Rare Wild Flamingo Sighting (Tampa Bay, Florida)
In This Beautiful Florida Flamingo Adventure:
Join us on this Adventure as we spot a rare sighting: A Wild Flamingo in Tampa Bay, Florida. Flamingo's became extinct in Florida during the early 20th century when they were hunted for their prized pink feathers used in hats and boas. The population is very slowly starting making a comeback in the Sunshine State but only in The Florida Keys, South Florida and Florida Bay so far. Its very rare to see Wild Flamingos above the Everglades (even then they are rare). See one live, in Front of Tampa Bay and the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. Join us on this rare Adventure!
Hurricane Idalia Brings Flamingo to Florida: Though American flamingos were once native to Florida, the birds were hunted to near-extinction at the beginning of the 1900s and make up a mere 1% of the global flamingo population, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Nobody knows how many Flamingos have returned to Florida but its estimated to be around 400 or so right now. Bird enthusiasts were shocked to see flamingos hanging out on the Florida panhandle as well recently.
Photos and video of the flamingos found in Florida have tags linked to breeding populations in the Yucatan "So, we do know those birds mostly came from the Yucatan Peninsula. And they, you know, they got caught up in the storm and just kind of went with it."
Flamingo Breeding: When Flamingos are about 6 years of age they are ready to start mating. This will take place within their own colony. Flamingos don’t mate annually. What has been discovered is that mating usually will take place when it rains. This is because the rain helps them to have supplies for building nests. It also helps to increase the food supply. Therefore when there is a drought the Flamingos are less likely to mate.
Both parents help to build the nest which can be up to 12 inches high when they are done. It is tedious work can take up to 6 weeks for the job to be done. Not long after the nest is made one egg is deposited by the female. The solo egg is very large and it is rare that more than one egg will be laid by any female Flamingo.

Steinhatchee Florida Damage after Hurricane Idalia
In This Steinhatchee Hurricane Damage Episode:
Hurricane Idalia is has already made landfall in the Big Bend area of Florida. We travel to this area of Florida in Steinhatchee, to inspect the damage and see if we can help any people in need in the future. Steinhatchee is a working class fishing town with over a 1,000 residents and plenty of trailers and RV spots to go round. We give a status update, and then prepare to help others in the aftermath. Watch to find out, we whave been covering this hurricane before, during, and now after. In person, and on the ground showing the real truth!
Hurricane Idalia: Was a Category 4 Hurricane which made landfall near Keaton Beach in Florida's Big Bend area on August 30,2023. The tenth tropical storm, third hurricane, and second major hurricane of the 2023 Atlantic hurricane season, Idalia formed from a low-pressure area that crossed Central America from the eastern Pacific Ocean. It slowly gained momentum and speed before hitting Florida's Big Bend area. Fortunately, the storm didn't hover over land causing more damage, it moved up through Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina before turning into the Atlantic Ocean.
Steinhatchee: Steinhatchee is a Gulf coastal community in the southern part of Taylor County, Florida, United States. Steinhatchee is 38 miles south of the county seat of Perry, which sits right where Florida’s Gulf Coast curves from being east-west to north-south.
This small town is a fishing village of about 1,000 people on the north side of the Steinhatchee River and is about 70 miles west of Gainesville - 1.5 hours by car. The even smaller village of Jena is across the river from Steinhatchee, and is usually included when folks talk about Steinhatchee. The Steinhatchee is one of Florida's most unspoiled rivers. Fishing is the big industry in town. Saltwater fishing is an important activity for both commercial and sport fishermen.
Florida's Hurricanes: The threat of hurricanes is very real for Florida during the six-month long Atlantic hurricane season, which runs from June 1 until November 30. The peak of hurricane season occurs between mid-August and late October, when the waters in the equatorial Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico have warmed enough to help support the development of tropical waves.
Storm/Hurricane Categorization:
Major Hurricane - A hurricane which reaches Category 3 (sustained winds greater than 110 mph) on the Saffir/Simpson Hurricane Scale.
Hurricane - A tropical cyclone in the Atlantic, Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico, or eastern Pacific in which the maximum 1-minute sustained surface wind is 64 knots (74 mph) or greater.

Live in Cedar Key Florida after Hurricane Idalia
In This Cedar Key the Aftermath Episode:
Hurricane Idalia is has already made landfall in the Big Bend area of Florida. We travel to this area of Florida starting with Cedar Key, to inspect the damage and see if we can help any people in need.
Cedar Key: Cedar Key is an island city off the northwest coast of Florida, in the Gulf of Mexico. It’s known for Cedar Key National Wildlife Refuge, a group of small islands with trails and rich birdlife. Cedar Key Museum State Park offers a nature trail, a 1920s home and artifacts depicting Cedar Key's history as a busy port. Cedar Key Historical Museum explores the town’s past through photos, documents and Civil War items.

Hurricane Idalia was a major Category 4 hurricane and the damage is extensive. Last year during hurricane Ian we did 6 missions (trips) down to Ft Myers, to pass out supplies that donated by our viewers directly, to the locals who were hit the hardest. We feel compelled to also help Hurriane Idalia surivivors if support continues. This is the beginning of our plan where survey the catastrophic damage and help where we can. Watch to find out, we will be covering these stories in person, and on the ground!

Please consider donating to help Hurricane Idalia survivors. We did 6 missions during last years Hurricane Ian in Ft Myers where we hand delivered much needed supplies like bottled water, batteries, food, trash bags, clean up items, dog and cat food, etc., directly to the needy. We would like to do the same for Hurricane Idalia Survivors. The majority of your donation will be hand delivered directly to the survivor (minus our gas and food costs so we can afford to deliver). In return, you will be able to see us deliver your gift in person, see the look on their faces, and hear the gratitude in their voices plus, hear survivor stories during our live video feeds! Hurricane Idalia 🌀 is Coming Our Way: Our Evacuation Plan and Route (Part 2)
In This Hurricane Idalia RV Living Episode:
Hurricane Idalia is now expected to be a Category 4 or higher which will mean, it will likely turn into a major hurricane before hitting landfall. Our RV is parked right on the beach and at the mouth of Tampa Bay and the hurricane will either make a direct hit or pass by us on the dirty side of the storm. Either way, major storm surge and high winds. We just got the emergency evacuation notice, we are planning our escape. This puts us in a very bad situation. What will we do? Where will we go? Watch to find out, we will be covering this hurricane before, during, and possibly after.
