Davinci Resolve 18 - POWER BINS 🔥 Use Media Across ALL Projects
Power Bins save you SO MUCH TIME in Davinci Resolve, and allow you to edit faster 🔥
#davinciresolve #videoediting
Power Bins are essentially bins that carry over to every project. So that means you only have to import the media once, and it will be available in every new project you create.
For example, if you are always using the same sound FX, call-outs, logos, or video clips - it can take time to import those files in every new project.
But, if you put them in a Power Bin instead, all those files would already be in Davinci Resolve, and ready to use.
Plus you can have multiple Power Bins. You can name them whatever you want, so you'll always be able to quickly find what you are looking for, without searching your hard drive for the files.
If you create videos for different YouTube channels, you could create a Power Bin for each brand, and import all the assets for each brand into individual Power Bins.
Then when you create a new project, all the common media files you always use will already be in Davinci Resolve.
If you have certain music or sound FX you always use, again, simply create a Power Bin called "Audio" or "Sound FX", or whatever you want, pull in your files - and they will be there, ready to use in all projects.
You can even drag in complete folders from your hard drive, and a Power Bin will be created for you, and it will inherit the name of the folder!
Power Bins will save you so much time, and help you to edit faster.
Plus, they are easy to setup.
And yes, Power Bins work in the free version of Davinci Resolve 👍

DAVINCI RESOLVE 18 - How To RECORD and EDIT a Voiceover 🎤
How to record and edit a voice-over in Davinci Resolve 18. Everything you need to know 🎤 This works in the free version of Davinci Resolve and the paid version - so everyone can do this.
Whether you need to record a microphone for a gaming video, documentary, tutorial, YouTube video, or any other kind of video, you can do it ALL within Davinci Resolve and Fairlight.
#DavinciResolve #videoEditing
You don't need a DAW in order to record and edit audio for your videos if you're using DaVinci Resolve. And that's because DaVinci Resolve has a DAW built-in called Fairlight.
DAW means: Digital Audio Workstation by the way (i.e. Pro Tools, Studio One, Logic, etc...)
If you need to record narration for a video, you can do it directly within Davinci Resolve. You can even record while watching the video! Or you could even record your voice before shooting your video, whatever you want.
BUT, it's more than just recording. You can also EDIT and MIX the audio and use PLUGINS! Also known as Audio FX. Since I come from an audio background, I refer to Audio FX as plugins.
So that means you can record audio into Davinci Resolve from the Fairlight page using your favorite microphone. Then you can edit the audio, such as: cutting out mistakes, re-arranging, adjust levels/clip gain, add fades, etc...
And then you can add your favorite VST plugins, AU plugins, or use any of the built-in Audio FX to make your track sound professional. Add things like EQ, Compression, Noise Reduction, Gate, De-Esser, whatever you want 👍
You can use any microphone you want too. So if you want to use a USB microphone like the Shure MV7, or Blue Yeti - it will work no problem.
If you want to use an XLR microphone like the Shure SM7B, Rode Broadcaster, etc... along with an audio interface, you can do that too.
Or if you don't have a microphone, you could also use the mic in your webcam - so you have plenty of options to record your voice into Davinci Resolve.

DAVINCI RESOLVE 18 - How to use Audio FX (VST & AU Plugins) EVERYTHING YOU WANT TO KNOW 🔥
How to use VST and AU audio plugins in DaVinci Resolve. This also works for the included Fairlight Audio FX. EVERYTHING you need to know in one video.
#DaVinciResolve #VideoEditing
We are using Davinci Resolve 18 (the free version) for this video.
DAVINCI RESOLVE 18 can use VST2 and VST3 plugins on Windows. And VST2, VST3, and Audio Units (AU) plugins on Mac.
Before you can use VST plugins in Davinci Resolve, you must first add the path in Preferences.
*AU plugins do NOT have to be manually added.
Since most modern plugins are VST3, I would suggest that you only add the VST3 path. If all of your plugins are not available in Davinci, then feel free to add the VST2 path(s).
For Windows, VST3 plugins will always be at:
C: - Program Files - Common Files - VST3
VST2 plugins could be anywhere on your Windows system, common places are:
C: - Program Files - VstPlugins
C: - Program Files - Steinberg - VstPlugins
C: - Program Files - Common Files - VST2
For Mac, VST3 plugins are at:
Library - Audio - Plug-ins - VST3
And VST2 plugins on Mac are usually at:
Library - Audio - Plug-ins - VST
After you add these paths, you will need to restart Davinci Resolve.
When Davinci opens again, it will scan all of these new audio plugins, and this first scan could take A LONG TIME!
After the first scan, Davinci will open much faster.
If you still don't see your plugins after one restart, you should close Davinci Resolve and restart your computer. Then launch Davinci Resolve again and your plugins should be there.
There are several ways to use Audio FX in Davinci Resolve. You can use them in the Edit page, use them in Fairlight, and use them in the Cut page.
You can put plugins on Tracks, or put plugins on Clips.
It's essential to understand the difference between putting an Audio Effect on a Track vs. putting an Audio Effect on a Clip.
If you put a VST plugin on a Track, it will effect EVERY piece of audio on that track.
If you put a VST plugin on a Clip, it will ONLY effect that single clip.
Beyond that, there are several other awesome features when using VST/AU plugins in Davinci Resolve. You can bounce the effect to disk, or cache the effect to save processing power, you can use Paste Attributes to copy a plugin and settings to another audio clip, and more.
This video will cover everything you need to know to get up and running with Audio FX in Davinci Resolve.
Whether you want to use VST plugins in the Timeline (Edit Page), or in Fairlight, it's all covered here.

➡️GREEN SCREEN mentioned in video (affiliate link)
https://amzn.to/3N117eQ
In the past, you would have to use the Color Page or Fusion in order to chroma key (colloquially known as 'green screening') in DaVinci Resolve.
But now, we can easily remove a green screen or blue screen right from the Timeline on the Edit Page by using the 3D Keyer effect. And, this effect works in the FREE version of Davinci Resolve!
3D Keyer works amazingly well. It really only take a few seconds to pull a clean key. But, if you need further refinement, there are plenty of built-in parameters to clean your mask to perfection.
And it's not just Green! You can key ANY COLOR! Green, Blue, Orange, Purple, Black, etc... Although I would highly suggest you use a green or blue screen for your work - since those colors are the farthest away from skin tones.
If your green screen does not cover the frame, no problem. You can use the built-in Garbage Matte or simply crop the video. If you make tutorial videos, podcast, or are a gamer, you need to know how to crop the walls and ceiling from your green screen, because most people won't have a green screen that fills the frame. We'll show both ways in the video.
▶️CHAPTERS

0:38 - How To Green Screen on the EDIT Page
4:32 - More 3D Keyer Options
6:08 - Key a Green Screen that doesn't fill the frame
8:13 - Garbage Matte
10:27 - Crop instead of Garbage Matte
11:55 - Add a still image behind you
13:34 - Achieve Smooth Playback with Render Cache
14:30 - Green Screen Example 3
18:44 - Key ANY Color (not just green or blue)
19:54 - Key News Presenter
23:16 - Key a computer screen
24:32 - Key Green Screen & Crop again
26:44 - Key and Rotate Horizontal clip
While the 3D Keyer will work for the majority of your work, it's always a good idea to know more than one way. Check out the video below to learn how to Green Screen in the Color Page and Fusion. You should especially know how to green screen in Fusion since the Delta Keyer offers even more options than the 3D Keyer.

Put Yourself In a Circle - DAVINCI RESOLVE 17 ⭕
How to create a circle overlay for your camera track in DaVinci Resolve using the Color Page. #DavinciResolve
For many tutorial style videos, you'll see the presenter overlayed on top of the screen capture track.
Instead of simply sizing the video track of the presenter down and sticking it in a corner using rectangular dimensions, a popular thing to do today is to use a circle mask over the webcam video track.
And this is super simple to do in the Color Page by using a Power Window and creating an Alpha output.
But you can also use this technique for many more effects as well, so feel free to experiment.
*Davinci Resolve 17.4.4 (the free version) is used in this video.
