Certinia analytics star Joe Thomas explains how AI is changing everything through augmented insight
From pragmatic AI bringing certainty to the business of services, while augmenting insight in ways that are anything but artificial, intelligence is more than machines learning, and more than just another hype cycle. Analytics evangelist Joe Thomas analyses it all with me, and more - so please watch, and read on!
Certinia, https://www.certinia.com formerly known as FinancialForce, describes itself as delivering "a Services-as-a-Business platform that powers and connects all aspects of services operations, from services estimation and delivery to customer success management and financial planning and accounting."
Working exclusively in the Salesforce ecosystem as "the first, best enterprise ERP for the Salesforce platform", https://certinia.com/partners/salesforce-alliance/ Certinia offers Professional Services Automation (PSA), Customer Success, and ERP solutions—delivered on Salesforce’s impressive cloud platform.
The company started in 2009, embraced AI as it existed in 2016 (and has only grown since), and has over 100 customers in Australia, with 1300+ more in 30+ countries - and in December 2023, announced new advanced AI capabilities https://certinia.com/resources/certinia-elevates-services-business-efficiency-and-predictability-with-new-certinia-ai-forecasting-accuracy-and-resource-management-capabilities/ and a wide range of enhancements to its Services-as-a-Business platform.
The company introduced its new "Certinia AI" platform, billed as "the most advanced purpose-built AI for services businesses available today with state-of-the-art predictive modelling seamlessly integrated across the portfolio", with a deeper dive into this new release available to explore here. https://certinia.com/blog/a-deeper-dive-into-certinias-winter-2024-release/

Joe helmed a roundtable discussion titled "Collaborative strategies for embedding pragmatic AI
into your service delivery process to deliver tangible value for the business", underscoring Certinia's #PragmaticAI approach, with that video interview is above - so please watch, and read on!
The company explains its pragmatic approach "significantly reduces the risks commonly associated with AI adoption by embedding AI directly into existing business processes, providing users with the insights they need, precisely when and where they need them.
"Models are trained on customers’ own data to deliver actionable insights. Users can view the attributes of the model, its accuracy, and understand how it can be continually improved. Over time, the model assesses the accuracy of its predictions against actual outcomes, enhancing its reliability.
"As a result, professional services teams now are more empowered than ever to harness AI capabilities to tackle practical, scalable, real-world use cases in finance and professional services."

BirdDog supercharges TV & video production with NDI enabled cameras, hardware and software: awesome!
The video industry has gone through a number of revolutions over the past 100+ years, and the last decade has been no different, with the 2016 NDI standard a catalyst for BirdDog's creation, resulting in dramatically transformed TV, video, production and workflow capabilities you need to know about, so please watch the video interview below and read on!
Technology is forever changing and improving, usually for the better, and when networking, the Internet, high definition, remotely operated and super flexible PTZ cameras converge with an award winning software and hardware platform that ties it all together - you start to get a glimpse into the remarkable BirdDog https://www.birddog.tv story.
At its simplest, BirdDog is an Australian-founded but now truly global video technology company that develops and manufactures high quality hardware and software solutions for all types of video productions.
These solutions greatly increase the quality, speed and flexibility of video that can be delivered over existing network infrastructure, be it existing Ethernet in a building or venue, via easily deployable single Ethernet cabling, wirelessly, or over the Internet to anywhere in the world.
As BirdDog explains, these solutions can be easily and effectively effortlessly "implemented without significant capital outlay, effectively democratising broadcast quality video content in an industry historically dominated by highly specialised operators."
Part of the special sauce, besides BirdDog's own advances in hardware, chip design and software, is NDI https://birddog.tv/ndi/ (which stands for Network Device Interface), a royalty-free software standard to "enable video-compatible products to communicate, deliver, and receive high-definition video over a computer network in a high-quality, low-latency manner that is frame accurate and suitable for switching in a live production environment."
The company explains it was first worldwide to develop a custom silicon chip to do NDI encoding and decoding - with a long list of world firsts that followed since, including first NDI hardware encoder, first NDI hardware decoder, first NDI cameras, first NDI Tally hardware, first NDI audio intercom solution, first NDI routing software, first NDI video scopes, first NDI auto-tracking for PTZ Cameras, and many more.
It's really quite remarkable, and with its products widely used by professional video and corporate AV providers including broadcasters, live streaming, corporate installations, TV production, education, events of kinds including concerts, sporting matches and more, houses of worship, digital signage solutions and more, it is fantastic to see an Australian company taking on the world, and delivering world-beating software!
As as you'll see in the video interview with BirdDog CEO and Co-Founder Dan Miall https://www.linkedin.com/in/dan-miall-b070b313/?originalSubdomain=au above, BirdDog technology is now impacting the medical space for the better, too, enhancing surgical collaboration, and more, with Remedi! https://remedi.live
Below are two more videos from BirdDog's YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@BirdDogAustralia.
The second video is titled "Stories - Slash9 Productions at Rampage", and the third is the "BirdDog Cloud 10 Update and Demo", both of which are referenced in the video interview with Dan, and both of which I absolutely recommend you watch to learn more!

VIDEOS & INTERVIEW: Immersive Gamebox launches in Sydney with 11 top games and awesome group fun - it's a 21st century Star Trek-like Holodeck!
Being inside a room where three video walls are your view into a virtual world - but without the fiddly headsets - delivers an experience never before possible outside of reality, which is glasses-free VR - but truly social and tons of fun!

It's easy to trade in your petrol car at any BYD store with EasyAuto123 - Luke and Edgar speak!
LAUNCH VIDEOS: Secure your BYD EV with $3000 in NSW Gov't rebates, BYD to significantly expand in Australia
A NSW Government rebate of $3000 for new EV (electric vehicle) purchases ends on December 31, 3023. Along with a $500 rebate top-up from BYD if purchasing and taking delivery of a BYD Atto 3 by December 31, and either way, you have an excellent opportunity to go electric and never need to buy petrol again! Luke Todd joins me in a video interview - and more, plus news on BYD's impressive Australian expansion plans below.
Not only is BYD Asia Pacific management visiting Australia in early December 2023 to announce a considerable expansion plan in partnership with local distribution partner EVDirect, but the time to claim a generous $3000 rebate from the NSW Government to buy a new EV is running out!
In response to the NSW Government announcing that it will wind up its $3000 electric vehicle rebate on 31 December 2023 after the Victorian Government did the same on 30 June this year, BYD Australia www.bydautomotive.com.au has come to the assistance of purchasers in NSW.
The company is doing so with the assurance that everyone will have the ability to secure a BYD EV to take advantage of the limited rebate (capped at 25,000 since its inception) as long as they do not delay their purchase. BYD Automotive is also offering a further $500 Rebate top up on all Atto 3's purchased and delivered by the end of the year.
There's also more detail on BYD's expansion plans into Australia below, but until 31 December 2023, BYD Automotive has in place at its BYD Megastore in Alexandria, a dedicated rebate team (including a hotline and online response team), to accommodate what is expected to be a busy purchasing period for those looking to take advantage of up to $3500 off their EV purchase.
Full details are below, but first, here's the video of Luke Todd, https://www.linkedin.com/in/luke-todd-19348758/?originalSubdomain=au BYD Australia Executive Chairman, and Founder & CEO of EVDirect with the announcement:
https://youtu.be/R2B4GLDHRL8
To date, BYD Automotive Australia has sold over 12,000 EVs in the country with 301,833 sold just last month globally. It has also added two new models to the marketplace this year, including the BYD SEAL Sedan starting delivery from December 2023, and the BYD DOLPHIN which started deliveries in October.
Luke Todd, CEO and MD of BYD Automotive's Australian distributer EVDirect.com, says, “Just as we did for Victorians before their government's electric vehicle rebate ended on 30 June this year, it is important for us as a company to now rally for those in NSW ahead of the announcement that the rebate scheme will end on 31 December 2023. BYD will commit an unlimited number of award-winning BYD ATTO 3s for delivery to NSW buyers who are eligible for the $3000 rebate."
Mr Todd added that the BYD DOLPHIN and SEAL models will also be available to purchasers looking to take advantage of the $3000 rebate by ordering before 31 December 2023.
"What we've uncovered, is that many prospective EV buyers are not aware that the NSW rebate in capped at 25,000 across the state since it was first announced. We expect purchasing activity to ramp up over the next six weeks as a result of its' wind down, so we urge those considering going electric, to get in fast to avoid disappointment," Mr Todd concluded.
The announcement comes as BYD Automotive launched its own EV portable charger arm EVSwitch.com, which has further reinforced its mission to make EV ownership affordable for every Australian, with the chargers priced at just $499.
You can see my video interview with Luke Todd embedded immediately below, which also includes information on the chargers.
https://youtu.be/Ez7g3FsmNpQ
There's also a great discussion between Luke Todd and Edgar from EasyAuto123, showing how easy it is to trade in your petrol car for a shiny new BYD EV - see the details below, after which are details of BYD Asia-Pacific's significant Australian expansion plans, please watch above and read on!

Alex talks Apple, AI, scams and more on the Chris Smith Show - Nov 29, 2023, TNTRadio.live
Thanks for watching and listening to not only TNTRadio.live, but also the excellent Chris Smith Show, which is on 3pm to 5pm AEDT every weekday. You can watch via https://www.youtube.com/@tntradiolive - it is also live streamed at TNTRadio.live, and at www.x.com/tntradiolive. Here is my weekly segment on the Chris Smith Show, on 29 November, 2023.
Full details of all these stories can be found at www.techadvice.life, but here are the headlines of what we spoke about:
1. Police around the world are issuing warnings on Facebook over Apple's new NameDrop feature, and telling people to turn it off, suggesting your data will be shared with others when your iPhone is near someone else's, but would privacy-obsessed Apple really enable such a feature without serious safeguards or?
2. Microsoft makes its Copilot AI free to use on the web, and will soon bring GPT-4 Turbo to users as well, so are there any catches and what is GPT-4 Turbo?
3. It's National Scams Awareness Week in Australia, running from Monday 27 November to Friday December 1, so how much money have Australians already lost, what are the most common scams, and how can people protect themselves against being scammed?
4. With the Australian government reviewing its unfair trading laws, Australian consumer advocacy groups are calling for strong new fairness laws to close gaps in Australian Consumer Law, as 7 in 10 people mistakenly believe businesses are already required to treat consumers fairly. There's also a petition Australians can sign to make unfair trading practices illegal.
5. Apple extends its emergency satellite SOS service for iPhone 14 users for an extra year, meaning those who purchased an iPhone 14 in 2022 get three years of free service, while existing iPhone 15 owners will get two years of service - and it's something no Android smartphone maker can yet match - why don't any of the Android smartphones offer this yet, Alex?
6. Elon Musk is launching Tesla's long awaited Cybertruck on Thursday, 30 November 2023. First unveiled in 2019, Cybertruck is coming!
Thank you for watching the Chris Smith Show, TNTRadio.Live and the weekly tech segment!

With new features and benefits something we’ve all been trained to expect and experience, it should come as no surprise to see DocuSign delivering a new feature too, with the launch of WhatsApp Delivery, which allows the users of the world’s most popular messaging platform (which counts 12 million Australian users https://www.meltwater.com/en/blog/social-media-statistics-australia and the 2.7 billion global users) https://meetanshi.com/blog/whatsapp-statistics/ to close deals faster.
As the company explains, its DocuSign eSignature integration with WhatsApp allows you to seamlessly reach signers through a preferred communication platform, while sending users real-time notifications that link directly to agreements, thus enabling quick, secure signing.
As most of us would clearly recognise just by our own smartphone usage patterns, Australian consumers increasingly rely on their mobile devices for both personal and business communication.
Thus, as consumer habits shift, speed and convenience are more important than ever before. To take advantage of this, businesses would be wise to continue investing in modern, flexible solutions that expedite transactions and give customers choice in how they want to receive information and sign contracts.
A company that did make the investment is Guzman Y Gomez in Singapore, with its General Manager, Josh Bell stating: “DocuSign has been fantastic for our HR team. They’re no longer having to worry about the admin and can focus on strategy, staff engagement, and finding the best talent for our business. The simplicity, the ease of use, and no need for training means our hiring and onboarding process is almost entirely automated.”
So, what are the key benefits of WhatsApp Delivery? They include:
· Increased Transaction Speed: Users can deliver real-time notifications to signer’s mobile devices with a direct link to complete a document. Agreements delivered via WhatsApp are processed nearly 7x faster than those sent via email.
· Expanded Reach: The addition of WhatsApp broadens the spectrum, ensuring that more than its 2 billion users can connect with nearly any signer using the mobile messaging platform.
· Enhanced User Experience: By offering another mobile-friendly method to process agreements, we’re giving users more choice and flexibility. Embedding alerts natively into the messaging application makes the signing process more convenient than ever.
· Prioritized Privacy: DocuSign protects highly confidential information by encrypting and making every document tamper-evident. WhatsApp’s leading privacy features provide additional reliability, ensuring notifications are always delivered securely.
Shaun McLagan, the Group VP and GM of DocuSign in APAC and Japan emphasised the crucial role of WhatsApp eSignature delivery in DocuSign's mission to simplify the agreement process, and said:
"DocuSign is dedicated to enabling our users to reach signers wherever and whenever they are, aligning with their evolving preferences. In an era where customer choices are constantly changing,
“DocuSign stands out as the sole provider offering a range of e-signature delivery options, including SMS, email, and messaging platforms such as WhatsApp.
“This is yet another demonstration of our unwavering commitment to delivering a seamless, end-to-end agreement experience that caters to each individual's needs,” McLagan concluded.
This announcement builds on DocuSign’s multi-channel delivery strategy, following the introduction of SMS Delivery https://www.docusign.com/blog/esignature-sms-delivery earlier this year, which was an earlier feature drop that DocuSign users experienced.
Both SMS Delivery and now the new WhatsApp Delivery are welcome additions, because of the simple fact that many people are inundated with emails, resulting in slower turnaround times and lower response rates.
Of all DocuSign eSignature agreements delivered via WhatsApp, DocuSign tells us “more than 50% are completed in 15 minutes or less”, while adding that “sharing agreements via alternate modalities can dramatically accelerate the speed of transactions, enabling signers to quickly open and electronically sign documents wherever they are.”
So, when is WhatsApp Delivery set to become available?
It is now being sold globally as part of the Multi-Channel Delivery SKU, with this add-on available to eSignature customers in Standard and above.

Interview: Questacon's newest exhibition: Friend or Foe – the Rise of Artificial Intelligence
Questacon’s newly launched exhibition, Friend or Foe – the Rise of Artificial Intelligence, is a stimulating and immersive exploration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) generated artwork that asks viewers to consider the themes of copyright and ownership, the nature of creativity, and bias in AI, with Radio 2CC Weekender Host Tatjana Clancy and TechAdvice.Life Editor Alex Zaharov-Reutt talking to Luke and Dr Cerini about this fantastic exhibition!
Full article here: https://techadvice.life/2023/11/27/listen-to-the-audio-interview-digital-artist-luke-millanta-and-acting-questacon-director-dr-bobby-cerini-explain-questacons-newest-exhibition-friend-or-foe-the-rise-of-artificial-intelli/
Friend or Foe features more than 100 AI-generated artworks https://www.questacon.edu.au/whats-on/exhibitions/friend-or-foe-rise-artificial-intelligence curated by Australian digital artist Luke Millanta. https://www.linkedin.com/in/millanta/?originalSubdomain=au The centrepiece of the exhibition is a 11-minute digital artwork presented on the Questacon QMAX large format screen, along with a range of other stunning digital artworks that seek to interrogate society’s relationship with AI.
‘We are delighted to have partnered with Australian digital artist and technologist, Luke Millanta, to create this exhibition and present our visitors with the opportunity to navigate and explore AI,’ said acting Questacon Director Dr Bobby Cerini. https://www.linkedin.com/in/bobby-cerini-0b47574/?originalSubdomain=au
‘Over the past several decades we have seen AI technology become increasingly embedded within society. With numerous online tools released recently, AI has been embraced by everyday people across the world, who are using AI to complete a range of tasks from the simple to the complex.
‘As the National Science and Technology Centre, it is fitting for Questacon to be able to offer visitors an exhibition about AI and the debates that inevitably accompany its use,’ Dr Cerini said.’
Luke Millanta said that it is exciting to be able to present this exhibition at Questacon, Australia’s National Science and Technology Centre.
What Luke had to say is directly below the audio interview with both Luke and Dr Bobby from the 18th of November, 2023.
‘Instead of waiting to see how the dust settles on AI technology and reflecting on it, we can have conversations about ownership, copyright and ethics, as they are happening, in real time.
‘The feature artwork in Friend or Foe is narrated by an AI robot and presents the capability and shortcomings of generative AI, a particular type of artificial intelligence that is capable of generating text, images, or other media, using generative models. These models learn the patterns and structures of their input data and then generate new data that has similar characteristics.
‘The AI robot takes viewers through a series of prompts, that present artworks that mimic well-known artistic styles, portray gendered roles, question originality and include ‘mistakes’.
‘Visitors will be left considering, is it permissible for AI to mimic the work of human artists? Can AI be truly ‘creative’? Is AI reinforcing harmful stereotypes? And what are its limitations?
‘I hope this exhibition will ignite a dialogue about the role of AI in our lives and societies' values towards the attitudes presented by technology,’ Mr Millanta said.
The exhibition was officially launched today by the Hon Ed Husic, Minister for Industry and Science, to coincide with the launch of AI Month, an initiative of the National AI Centre, which sits within Australia’s national science agency, CSIRO.

Aera CEO Fred Laluyaux explains why AI-powered Decision Intelligence means better decisions!
Fresh from Aera Technology's AreaHub23 event last week, the company's first Decision Intelligence Summit, CEO Fred Laluyaux joined me to explain what Decision Intelligence means in 2023, how it benefits by and yet differs from the generative AI craze, the latest IDC research on how companies are making better decisions, why it is now a critical business initiative, and more!
Aera Technology https://www.aeratechnology.com is the Decision Intelligence company that is transforming enterprises with AI for decision automation. Aera Technology has been powering Decision Intelligence solutions since 2017.
I first met Aera's CEO Fred Laluyaux when he visited Australia in 2018, and wrote about our meeting and video interview in an article titled: "VIDEO Interview: Aera CEO explains the revolution cognitive AI technologies are bringing". https://itwire.com/business-it-news/business-intelligence/video-interview-aera-ceo-explains-the-revolution-cognitive-ai-technologies-are-bringing.html
We then spoke again last year in an article titled: "VIDEO Interview: Fred Laluyaux explains Decision Intelligence, how it helps and why it matters" https://itwire.com/business-it-news/business-intelligence/video-interview-fred-laluyaux-explains-decision-intelligence,-how-it-helps-and-why-it-matters.html
Both of those videos are embedded at the end of this article, but I also spoke with Fred earlier last week, on the back of the company’s AeraHUB 23 event https://aerahub.vesevent.com. Live from Manhattan on November 9, 2023, and now available to experience on-demand, the event brought together the innovators, thought leaders, and business champions who are at the centre of deploying AI for decision automation.
If you choose to watch the event, you'll see an exclusive presentation of new research from IDC on AI and decision automation, you'll see and hear Decision Intelligence success stories from practitioners and executive leaders at global brands, you'll get an overview of the new generative AI capabilities on the company's flagship "Aera Decision Cloud" - and more.
IDC's contribution was significant: its Aera-commissioned white paper titled "What Every Executive Needs to Know About AI-Powered Decision Intelligence” https://meet.aeratechnology.com/idc-what-every-executive-needs-to-know-ai, a global survey of Fortune 1000 companies which found decision velocity and AI-enabled decision making are key factors in value generation, revealing 75% of executive, VP, and director-level respondents expect to gain significant or very significant improvements if investments in Decision Intelligence initiatives are made.
More details on the white paper, Aera Technology, the AeraHub23 event and more, but first, let's watch my video interview above from last week with Aera CEO Fred Laluyaux!
In the white paper, IDC examines how enterprise decisions are made and the challenges and opportunities involved in achieving better decision making. The research identifies common characteristics of enterprises with decision velocity — defined by IDC as the speed at which a decision-making process can be executed within a set of enterprise controls — and the connection to business value and competitive differentiation.
Dan Vesset, https://www.linkedin.com/in/danvesset/ IDC's Group VP of Analytics and Information Management said; “While today’s headlines speculate about potential benefits and the future of AI, our research indicates that leading organisations are using AI, analytics, and data to generate value for their customers, employees, partners, investors, and communities.
“What unites these organisations are clear goals and KPIs to measure them, investments to accelerate decision velocity, and pragmatic use of enabling AI, analytics and data technologies and skills.”
The IDC research highlights responses from those that have connected or integrated IDC’s six steps of a decision-making process https://blogs.idc.com/2023/10/23/why-how-and-what-of-ai-powered-decision-intelligence/ (deemed “leaders”) — and those that have not (“followers”), uncovering the value of Decision Intelligence in enterprise AI initiatives. IDC cuts through the hype associated with AI, revealing findings that support Decision Intelligence and its ability to deliver return on investment in AI, analytics, and data.
More information from Aera Technology on the IDC research is at my article here:
