Kokanee Salmon at Soldier Creek, Strawberry Reservoir, Utah May 2021. It was early morning trolling for Kokanee Salmon at Strawberry Reservoir on the Soldier Creek side. We trolled dodgers, followed by a squid for the early morning fish. We found the Kokanee near the surface about 20 ft. depth. We caught one salmon first thing in the morning and then went awhile before we started picking up Rainbow trout and Cutthroat trout. We moved around, trying a few different spots until late afternoon when we started catching Kokanee again. We managed to catch three Kokanee Salmon on into the evening. We headed back to the Soldier Creek marina, pulled the boat out and headed home just before dark. Kokanee fishing was slow but we did manage to pick up some nice fish. We had nothing to worry about because the Rainbow and Cutthroat Trout fishing kept us entertained all day. All in all the fishing was great. Spending time with the boys in the outdoors is always worth it. Stick around un til the end of the video to see how we like to filet our fish.

Our first time out on the ice this winter. We had a great day. The lake was partially frozen over. We used pink and green soft plastic jigs tipped with meal worms, wax worms and night crawlers. HOT FALL FISHG | High Mountain Lake pt. 2 | Fishing for Rainbow and Cutthroat trout Strawberry UT. So we were on our way home from Currant Creek. We wanted to stop at Strawberry and cast in a line. We fished for a hour or so with good luck, on three big Cutthroats and a nice Rainbow trout. We used a bobber and a worm near the surface. A Rattle Trap and a Countdown Rapala. HOT FALL FISHING on a high mountain lake fishing for rainbow and cutthroat trout | Currant Creek. RES We thought we'd head up to Currant Creek and campout. Originally we planned on fishing there and working our way to Strawberry, but the fishing was so good that we stayed. It was so cool to get up there and see the snow. Can't Believe She Walked Up To Us!! Kokanee Salmon Catch Clean Cook Fishing Camping Strawberry Soldier Creek. We headed to Electric Lake to fish for Kokanee Salmon and when we got there we saw how low the lake was. The water was way below the launch ramp and we did not want to get stuck in the mud. So we headed to Schofield Reservoir where we found it eerie when we pulled in and no one was there. No campers, no one at the pay station and only a couple of boats on the lake. We launched the boat and found out why the place was empty of people. We then saw the algae blooms on the water motoring around for 15 minutes before getting out of there. The boat cleaning technician told us that there wouldn't be any contamination issue with going to another lake. So then we headed towards Price, up Indian Canyon to Duschene and then westbound to Strawberry, Soldier Creek Dam area and got a great spot among the Quakies at Aspen Grove campground. That evening we fished from shore and caught Crawfish. The next morning we got out early fishing for Kokanee. Right away we started catching Rainbows and Cutthroats and some Kokanee. We were fishing with dodgers and squid. We basically did the same the next morning on the water by 5 am. Few more Rainbows, Cutthroat and Kokanee. Fishing was a bit tough with the full moon and we didn't quite have our technique dialed in just right. But we had a great time. One of the highlights of our trip was meeting Notch the Deer. Can't Believe She Walked Up To Us!! She wandered from campsite to site and would eat right out of your hand and let you pet her. All in all a great trip and would do it again without the detour. We went out to Farmington Bay. Motoring around looking for waterfowl we noticed the water level was the lowest ever. Researching on the Utah.gov website, https://water.utah.gov/cloudseeding/ , we can not find any information for Cloud Seeding being done since the 2019/2020 winter season. Question is why? Utah has been cloud seeding since the early 1950s to help augment the state’s water supply. The Cloud Seeding Act of 1973 gave authority to the Utah Division of Water Resources to oversee state cloud seeding projects. Ground-based seeders shoot silver iodide into winter clouds where it helps form ice crystals. The seeders are placed along foothills and higher elevations where the release of the cloud seeds is timed so that air currents carry them high into the cloud. This process is effective because clouds are formed by water vapor and dust. Under certain natural conditions those water droplets will freeze together around the dust or other particles and, when heavy enough, will fall from the sky as snow. Often, there is more snow that can fall but limited by the number of particles around which ice crystals can form. That is why adding particles, or seeds, facilitates and accelerates the process which may lead to more snow falling than would have under natural conditions. Its surprisingly inexpensive, only $200,000 per year, according to the Utah Division of Natural Resources. ****The public is invited to participate in the public review of the 2021 Water Resources Plan here: https://water.utah.gov/2021waterplan/ We really need to get involved in every arm of our government . Hungry for Fish Tacos we started out building our own custom curly tails and jig heads. Then headed down to Utah Lake for some fun fishing with the kids. My nephew Bryan showed up after a while. We started out fishing early in the morning, trolling bottom walkers and worm harnesses for walleye. We started picking up walleye right away, the morning bite was great with four nice ones and a few small ones that we released. The wind picked up pretty early in the morning and blew all day. Gaining speed and changing direction thru out the day. We changed spots and started picking up more walleye and started catching some perch that we release. We changed spots again looking for a calmer place to fish, we moved down lake to an area that was better but there was really no escaping the wind. Right as we set out our lines we started picking up fish again, we caught quite a few walleye and a couple of nice wipers also more perch, we caught some using a curly tail tipped with a worm. We heard that the DNR is wanting to reduce the amount of fish in the lake because of low water levels. So we kept nine fish and brought them home for dinner. It was a windy day but a great day, we had loads of fun fishing together. We appreciate being able to come and fish we would like to thank the DNR and the Utah state parks sincerely Freakin Outdoors. So we headed south down I-15 Saturday morning on our way camping to Fish Lake, UT. We went down there for a three day fishing/camping trip and to tour the Pando Forest. This is a high mountain lake, with the elevation of 8,900 ft. As soon as we started approaching the steep climb, you could see the desert quickly turn to beautiful Aspen and pine forest and you could feel the temp. drop nicely. Our camp sight was surrounded by a beautiful grove of Aspens mixed with sagebrush and pine trees. At Doctor Creek, Mackinaw, and Bowery Haven Campgrounds right by the lake, camp sights can be reserved but they also have quite a few that are first come first serve. There is also lodging at three private resorts, the Lakeside Resort, the Bowery Haven Resort and Fish Lake Lodge offering camping and fishing supplies, RV parks with hook-ups, cabin and boat rentals, limited groceries, dining facilities, laundromats and showers. They offer a variety of activities including fishing, hiking, mountain biking, camping, picnicking, wildlife viewing, scenic byway, and photography. Twin Creeks is a really cool day use picnic area that has a great boardwalk where you can see the fish swimming around. The Pando Forest is really amazing. It spans over 106 acres. It is the largest single living organism, weighing nearly 13 million pounds. Pando is an aspen clone that originated from a single seed. The exact age of the clone and it's root system is said to be difficult to calculate but is estimated to have started at the end of the ice age. Some trees currently in the stand are over 130 years old. Fish Lake was such a great place to get away and spend family time . We had so much fun fishing. We caught so many Kokanee Salmon, loads of Rainbow Trout and even a Splake. It's a beautiful lake with beautiful clean water. It was like going back in time.
