Ep 27: "The Night Stalker" (1972) Kino Lorber Blu-ray & Film Review (Moonjumper's Amazon Reviews #4)
It's the 50th Anniversary of the 1972 TV horror classic, "The Night Stalker," starring Darren McGavin in his first appearance as one of his most beloved and iconic characters, Carl Kolchak, a bumbling newspaper reporter on the hunt for vampires, werewolves, ghosts, and demons--and stop them from acquiring more unsuspecting victims. "The Night Stalker," the ABC made-for-TV movie, which pit Kolchak against his first vampire foe, was followed by a second film, "The Night Strangler" in 1973, and finally the TV series, "Kolchak: The Night Stalker," (1974-1975) which remains in syndication to this day, including on the classic TV broadcast channel, MeTV. However, while many are familiar with the TV series through its reruns, the two original pilot movies are rarely seen. Film preservation company, Kino Lorber, has recently released remastered high-definition Blu-ray editions of both original films, as well as the complete TV series, in three separate box sets. In this latest segment of "Moonjumper's Amazon Reviews," Moonjumper discusses the excellent quality of these Kino Lorber blu-rays, the original film, and its lasting legacy.

Ep. 25: Continuity Fact Check: Spock's Mind Meld with La'an (SNW 1x04) (Reply to TrekCulture)
#StarTrekStrangeNewWorlds #StarTrekSNW #TrekCulture
Moonjumper respectfully replies to a recent episode of TrekCulture (Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44rA4rISm3g&t=972s), regarding "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds," Season 1, Episode 4, "Memento Mori." As always, it was a very fine review by Sean Ferrick. However, Moonjumper has one minor quibble regarding a common "fanon" misconception when it comes to Spock's first on-screen mind meld in the TOS episode, "Dagger of the Mind" and its relation to "Star Trek: Enterprise" and now SNW. Meanwhile, there's also the matter of the Gorn! Buckle up! It's Continuity Fact Check Time on this short episode of "Who Cares What I Think!?"

SE24-02: When did Star Trek's Eugenics Wars actually take place?? (Plus: THE BIONIC WOMAN!?)
Moonjumper delves into the fictional history of the Star Trek universe and asks: When did the Eugenics Wars actually take place? The Original Series and “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan” are both equally unambiguous in their clear statements that this now anachronistic, high tech, global conflict occurred between 1992 to 1996—the same year the highly advanced interstellar sleeper ship, S.S. Botany Bay, was secretly launched into space with the cryogenically suspended Khan Noonien Singh and his genetically augmented followers. That is canon, pure and simple, and not something so unnoticeable to retcon, considering that Khan is unquestionably Star Trek’s most iconic villain of all time. And yet, there are those who wish to do exactly that—to rewrite the Star Trek’s alternate history of the future to fall more in line with our own present-day reality. Current Star trek producer, Terry Matalas, is even quoted by Memory Alpha suggesting that, “Maybe Spock was wrong [about the date]?”—ignoring that Khan himself stated the same dates (not to mention that “Star Trek: Picard,” Season 2 is set in an alternate 2024, which portrays humanity as far more technologically advanced than we currently are).
This video utilizes an excerpt from Moonjumper’s recent review of “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.” In discussing the history of The Eugenics Wars, Captain Pike seems to be suggesting that the conflict of supermen will now take place in the 2020s or later, contradicting previous canon—or does he? The excerpt is bookended with Moonjumper’s new and updated thoughts on the topic—including how (according to novelist, Greg Cox) the Six Million Dollar Man and the Bionic Woman may have played a role in Star Trek’s most mysterious war!

SE24-01: 21st Century DISCOVERY SHUTTLE in World War III??
Alex Kurtzman's Secret Hideout LOVES their "Star Trek: Discovery" shuttles! They put them everywhere! Pre-TOS, post-TNG, post-post-post-post-TNG, 930 years in the future in the 32nd Century! And now, in "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds," after the Kurtzman camp has been dragged kicking and screaming into designing a legitimate pre-TOS shuttle design reminiscent of the iconic TOS Galileo shuttlecraft from TOS, they couldn't help themselves. If they can't have their prized anachronistic Disco shuttles buzzing around Starfleet Headquarters anymore, then why not sneak them into OUR century!? Logical, ain't it!? This video uses a clip from Moonjumper's latest full episode of "Who Cares What I Think!?," his deep dive analysis of the first two episodes of the new Star Trek prequel series, "Strange New Worlds" (linked down below) followed up by some updated thoughts and comments.

Ep. 23 "Silent Running" (1972) HD Blu-Ray & Film Review (Moonjumper's Amazon Reviews #3)
MOONJUMPER'S AMAZON REVIEWS #3:
“Silent Running” marks its 50th anniversary since its 1972 release. To celebrate, Moonjumper reviews the remastered HD Blu-ray edition of this science fiction classic from Universal Pictures. Just based on its general description, it would be easy to dismiss this flower child space opera as a boring, heavy-handed environmental lecture—and these days, who wants that? Haven’t we all had enough of the woke? However, that is NOT what this movie is at all! Indeed, quite the opposite. Academy Award nominee Bruce Durn delivers a chilling performance as a sociopathic astronaut driven to murdering his entire crew to protect his prized green houses on the outer edges of our solar system. A dark sci-fi thriller in the traditions of Alfred Hitchcock and The Outer Limits, this film is a surprisingly compelling visual masterpiece and cautionary character study of a man whose ideology goes way too far.

SE21-01: Why Stacey Abrams' Appearance on Star Trek: Discovery could mean SCANDAL for CBS, Abrams
This video features an excerpt from "Who Cares What I Think!?" Episode 21: "Discovery Goes Full Partisan." (The full episode is linked down below.) The fourth season finale of "Star Trek: Discovery" includes an eyebrow raising cameo appearance of the 2022 Democratic Party nominee for Governor of the State of Georgia. Could this partisan appearance represent a potential conflict of interest for Paramount and the Abrams Campaign?
Moonjumper is neither a lawyer nor an authority on Georgian campaign finance law, and this is not an expert legal analysis, but it seems shady enough to ask the question.

Ep. 21: Kirk on SNW (Retcon Alert!); and Stacey Abrams on Discovery (Campaign Finance Violation?)
Moonjumper takes on two topics in this episode of “Who Cares What I Think!?” First, it’s a Retcon Alert as Moonjumper examines potential continuity issues in the upcoming TOS prequel, “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds,” including Cadet Uhura, Nurse Chapel, La’an Noonien Singh, and a prematurely promoted Captain James T. Kirk played by 40 year old Paul Wesley. Then, Moonjumper shines a spotlight on the season 4 finale of “Star Trek: Discovery,” featuring a cameo appearance of 2022 Democratic Georgia gubernatorial candidate, Stacy Abrams—in what amounts to a very sleek campaign ad for her campaign. Is this an in-kind campaign contribution? Could this present ethical, even legal problems for CBS?

"WHO CARES WHAT I THINK!?" 20TH FULL EPISODE!
Moonjumper examines and compares rising YouTube rival, Rumble, to Google’s mainstream video-sharing juggernaut. Once dismissed as a fringe echo-chamber of right-wing zealots, Rumble is now emerging as an increasingly mainstream alternative for moderate voices, disillusioned by YouTube’s alleged history of partisan censorship. Rumble is becoming a home for major mainstream personalities and commentators, as well as offering an alternative opportunity for smaller YouTube channels seeking to grow and monetize their content—resulting in the newer platform’s meteoric growth. While Rumble’s stock rises on Wall Street, Google executives are becoming nervous, as fault lines beneath Silicon Valley are beginning to vibrate. Does YouTube have a true competitor on its hands?

[ARCHIVE 8-29-2020] In Memory of Chadwick Boseman (1976 - 2020)
[THIS VIDEO WAS UPLOADED TO YOUTUBE, AUGUST 29, 2020.]
ARCHIVAL NOTE: I don't often do tribute videos. Actors pass away all the time, actors whom I have deeper emotional connections to than even Chadwick Boseman, who was a relative newcomer. However, this was such an unexpected shock. This was a young man who had just starred in some of the biggest blockbusters in history; he had more films lined up; no one even knew he was ill. He didn't die in an accident, he didn't self-destruct; he died of cancer when hardly anyone knew he was ill. And out of nowhere, he's gone. He faced the disease with such quiet bravery; he didn't want to advertise it; he didn't virtue signal it. Indeed, he quietly continued to support sick children out of view of the camera, while he was ill himself. That is profoundly admirable. I was compelled to comment on it. Rest in peace, Chadwick.
ORIGAL DESCRIPTION: Chadwick Boseman, star of Marvel Studios "Black Panther," has died of colon cancer at the young age of 43. It was only seven years ago, in 2013, his first major starring role in "42" as baseball legend Jackie Robinson, made Hollywood first take notice of his poignant acting style, but it was his worldwide blockbusting debut as Black Panther which made him a global superstar. His time in the spotlight was brief, but his star will forever shine. In this video, Moonjumper shares his thoughts.

SE19-03: Was the Federation EVER Really a "Utopia?"
If "Star Trek: The Next Generation" were the only Star Trek series you ever watched, you might be inclined to believe that the United Federation of Planets is and has always been a Shangri-La, free of corruption, greed, inequality, or internal strife. Thus, many TNG devotees are shocked and offended by the dark, cynical nature of the Federation portrayed in the TNG sequel, “Star Trek: Picard.” But has the Federation ever actually been a true utopia? Has humanity really evolved to a near godly morality? Or does the very notion stem from 24th century state propaganda in the early days of TNG? The Federation of The Original Series never claimed to be a utopia—and there are plenty of examples of just how humanly fallible people still are in the 23rd century. And Deep Space Nine? Utopia? What are you talking about?? Life-ling TOS Trekkie, Moonjumper, peals back the Federation’s squeaky-clean façade to reveal the dark side of the United Federation of Planets--including a look at the Federation planet of Ardana, where the elite cloud dwellers of Stratos ruled over an underclass of miners, slaving in dangerous, inhumane conditions (TOS: "The Cloud Minders"). Yes, in the Federation!

SE19-01: In Defense of Star Trek's VISUAL Canon
In this EXCERPT from Part II of Moonjumper's ongoing series, "Star Trek: Discovery vs. Picard," Moonjumper examines the varying tastes of the Star Trek "Generations" (the differences between the general likes and dislikes of TOS fans, TNG fans, and DSC-era fans)--but more specifically, in this clip, Moonjumper makes the case for old school TOS fans as to why so many old school fans believe that visual canon matters as much as story canon, that they are indeed one and the same.

Ep 14: Gene Roddenberry's Genesis II / Planet Earth / Strange New World Trilogy (Blu-ray/DVD review)
[THIS VIDEO WAS UPLOADED TO YOUTUBE, NOVEMBER 7, 2021.]
MOONJUMPER'S AMAZON REVIEWS: Why waist a good written review on Amazon, when you can reuse it on YouTube and Rumble? Moonjumper reads two of his own reviews posted on Amazon regarding Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry’s trilogy of made-for-TV movies, “Genesis II,” its sequel “Planet Earth,” and spin-off movie, “Strange New Worlds,” which aired on CBS and ABC from 1973 to 1975. Starring Alex Cord, John Saxon, and host of major stars, Roddenberry and Warner Bros. hoped to launch a new weekly series in the spirit and tone of Star Trek, but against the backdrop of a post-apocalyptic Earth—where hero, Dylan Hunt, must help rebuild civilization. This character and scenario would later be reworked into “Gene Roddenberry’s Andromeda,” starring Kevin Sorbo as Dylan Hunt, captain of the starship Andromeda Ascendant.
The third and final film, “Strange New Worlds” contains two episodic adventures, including a story which would later be reworked into an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation, “Up the Long Ladder,” and a loose remake of the Star Trek TOS episode, “The Omega Glory.”

SE19-02: Why I Prefer "Star Trek: Picard" to "Discovery"
In this excerpt from WCWIT Ep. 19 "Star Trek Generations? (Discovery vs. Picard, Part 2)," Moonjumper explains why he, as an old school TOS fan, prefers "Picard" over "Discovery"--while also pointing out some of the TNG sequel's flaws which understandably upset many TNG fans.

[ARCHIVE 3-31-2020] Ep 2 (Pt 1): Surviving The Panic Pandemic [WARNING: CONTAINS OUTDATED INFO]
NOTICE/WARNING:
THIS VIDEO WAS UPLOADED TO YOUTUBE, MARCH 31, 2020.
BE AWARE: It was made NEAR THE BEGINNING OF THE PANDEMIC AND THE LOCKDOWNS. It contains some OUTDATED INFORATION and IDLE SPECULATION from a layman's perspective, based on what little I knew then--which wasn't much. Indeed, few of us understood what was going on, other than a basic common sense that a PANIC is never helpful (which is what this video was about).
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION:
Moonjumper takes an unexpected and emotional drive through his small hometown as it, along with the rest of the world, is shattered by the coronavirus pandemic. He fully admits that he doesn't know what he's right or wrong about--or who is telling the truth. On one hand, Moonjumper is suspicious of the timing in an election year, troubled by people in power poised to use this crisis as an excuse for an unprecedented power grab, and mistrustful of a partisan media that seemingly WANTS to foment a mass panic that will push this nation and the world, not just into a recession, but a second, full blown great depression (while advocating their agenda as our only salvation). On the other hand, Moonjumper is alarmed at just how fast (and how close to home) the disease is spreading...as some of his own family members become infected. But there is one thing Moonjumper does know: As store shelves become bare, food and supplies are scarce, and his own small community is devastated by mass unemployment, what FDR said all those decades ago during the last great depression remains true today: We have nothing to fear but fear itself. Join Moonjumper for this very special, heart-felt edition of "Who Cares What I Think!?" on a journey that is part commentary, part personal soul-searching, and part documentary--as Moonjumper both observes and experiences the plight of terrified townsfolk, left without even the most basic food and supplies for their families--in "COVID-19: The Panic Pandemic" (Part 1 of 2).

NOTICE/WARNING:

BE AWARE: It was made NEAR THE BEGINNING OF THE PANDEMIC AND THE LOCKDOWNS. It contains some OUTDATED INFORATION and IDLE SPECULATION from a layman's perspective, based on what little I knew then--which wasn't much. Indeed, few of us understood what was going on, other than a basic common sense that a PANIC is never helpful and a well justified suspicion that the left would try to use the crisis as a power grab (which is exactly what ended up happening).
Sure, there's some things I got wrong. For example, I predicted that Democrats would use covid as an excuse to institute electronic balloting. Instead, they did something WORSE! They instituted universal mail-in balloting! I also said that this wasn't some global conspiracy in which whole groups sat in a room planning, but that like-minded leftists would certainly take advantage of the situation (which they certainly did!). I thought I was being sober and reasonable. However, NOW I'm not so sure that it wasn't a global conspiracy between the CCP, the Great Resetters, and people like Fauci. Hell, maybe it WAS all planned! I don't know that for certain, but one can't help being suspicious!

WHO CARES WHAT I THINK!?
EPISODE 2 (PART 2) – COVID-19: THE PANIC PANDEMIC:
THE POLITICS OF THE PANIC PANDEMIC
It’s not exactly a “conspiracy theory” when it’s the media’s very own headlines. Moonjumper didn’t write them; he’s simply pointing them out.
Yes, the COVID-19 Pandemic is REAL and DEADLY—we get it. We need to social distance; we need to do everything possible to stop it, up to and including a draconian, self-imposed shutdown of our entire economy (in an election year, no less) for a very LIMITED period of time, if that is what it truly takes to avert “the worst pandemic in 100 years.” Moonjumper is NOT arguing against that (for now). In fact, Moonjumper even runs the numbers to explain why COVID-19 is indeed more alarming than previous viral outbreaks, despite his initial suspicions of the timing (not to mention—because we’re not allowed to mention—the ironic, indisputable FACT that the regular seasonal flu has already killed over 30,000 Americans this year alone, with seemingly little concern—but we digress). Moonjumper AGREES that, due to the coronavirus’ alarming rate of infection, what we are doing out of an—extreme—abundance of caution is prudent in order to save countless lives...with the caveat that these—unprecedented—measures are TEMPORARY and not designed to become routine. Indeed, Moonjumper (should he become infected, himself) is concerned about passing the coronavirus to an ill, elderly parent he is personally caring for in his home...and is doing everything in his power to prevent that.
However, all that said… it is precisely dark times such as these when we must be fully alert to those with dubious agendas—those who seek any opportunity to hijack a very real crises (any crises) for their own political and power grabbing ends. Is “The Panic Pandemic” some kind of socialist, globalist conspiracy? Short answer: No. It is a deadly virus which doesn’t care about politics. COVID-19 does not discriminate between Democrats, Republicans, Liberals, Tories, Socialists, or outright Communists—it’s more than happy to kill any or all. But tell that to those who clearly view this as just one more opportunity to take down a president, seek unfair advantages in primaries and elections (or cancel them all together to simply "declare" a winner, not allowing primary voters a say), seek to blur national borders (at a time when borders are most needed to curb the spread), and shred the U.S. Constitution (the one document they most despise, because it was specifically and intelligently designed by the Founding Fathers to prevent what such people are seeking to do in their quests for governmental power). Such people love to refer to the Constitution as “outdated”—thus, the very reason we still need it.
Furthermore, although Moonjumper is currently supportive of the steps that have been taken (providing it is temporary), it remains disconcerting that we all are being asked to place our full faith and trust in the very same domestic and international ecosystems of dug-in, unelected (and make no mistake, partisan) bureaucrats (aided by their allies in an astonishingly incurious media/press), who have given us numerous reasons not to trust them in the past—as the "speak-truth-to-power" media/press famously used to not trust them, either. Strange times. Should this temporary setback begin to “mission creep” into a disturbing “new normal,” it should be understood that our patience—and our trust—is limited. Especially when those with autocratic agendas feel emboldened to PUBLICLY telegraph their real intentions!
Moonjumper is not a conspiracy theorist—and the worst pandemic in 100 years is not a conspiracy. Through a combination of commentary and satire, Moonjumper simply uses the partisan media’s very own headlines to illustrate what some groups and individuals are now demanding in their own words—in “Covid-19: The Panic Pandemic (Part 2): The Politics of The Panic Pandemic.”

Ep. 19 Star Trek "Generations?" TOS vs. TNG vs. DSC/Picard (Star Trek: Discovery vs. Picard, Part 2)
In the 1990s, it was Kirk vs. Picard. Then, Picard vs. Sisko. Now, entire generations of Star Trek fans are grappling, even arguing over issues of canon and continuity, style and tone, plot and storyline in the current age of Burnham and a far more elderly and frail Picard than the commanding leader of The Next Generation. In PART II of “Discovery vs. Picard,” Moonjumper examines, in a general sense, what may or may not separate whole generations of Star Trek fans: differences between their likes, their dislikes, and their expectations of a half-century old science fiction franchise. Are TOS fans more likely to like DS9 over TNG? Are TNG fans more likely than TOS fans to accept Discovery, but reject “Star Trek: Picard?” Are older fans gatekeepers? Are Discovery fans too dismissive of older fans’ concerns? And can we all get along? Moonjumper, an old school TOS Trekkie, takes a deep dive into the complex issues of “TOS Fans vs. TNG Fans vs. Discovery Fans.”

Ep. 18: Is Lazarus from the Mirror Universe? (Star Trek: TOS: "The Alternative Factor")
"The Alternative Factor" (Star Trek: The Original Series) is among the most maligned episodes in the Star Trek canon, however its underlying theme is one that bears an uncanny resemblance to another TOS episode, "Mirror, Mirror," and all the Mirror Universe episodes that would follow over the next fifty years. Is the alternate universe Lazarus from the Mirror Universe?

SE17-03: The "Roswell" Reboot (Why The CW is FOR SALE!)
Do you remember “Roswell,” the late 90s/early 2000s teen drama which introduced a young Katherine Heigl, helped make Dido’s “Here With Me” a hit song, and kept audiences on the edge of their seats regarding whether or not a group of teenage aliens from another planet would be found out? The CW’s woke reboot, now titled “Roswell, New Mexico,” is more concerned whether or not Max’s human girlfriend, Liz, will be hunted down by the raging racist residents of Roswell simply because she is Hispanic. This may be one of reasons why The CW is now up for sale by WarnerMedia and ViacomCBS. The CW has become so insufferably woke, what else could it do but go broke?
