Bitcoin More Valuable Than Pound Sterling
Porkopolis Economics: Episode 101
Show Sponsors: trezor.io
Donations to Porkopolis Economics via BTCPay are appreciated: https://donations.porkopolis.io/
Porkopolis Economics covers macroeconomics, money, and sports from the creator of the Crypto Voices podcast, Matthew Mezinskis.
February 2024 was a momentous month in the history of Bitcoin. Besides screaming back to all-time highs in price, ETF flows, and record volumes, the market cap of Bitcoin is now at the level of the monetary base at the Bank of England.
The monetary base is the true "value" of the pound sterling, as it is in fact the monetary balance issued and outstanding from the central bank.
This means that, in terms of value, Bitcoin has caught up to the oldest fiat currency in the world, after only 15 years of existence.
This gives new meaning to the phrase, 'Gradually, then suddenly.'
If you have not yet, do give this freedom money another look.
As always, thank you for watching.
