WW2 German sniper training film [English Subtitles]
This German Sniper training film is one of the few surviving training films from the nation during WW2. A film like this, would be to show new recruits, a more basic understanding as to the tactics and typical blunders made, and what to avoid.

This film is meant for educational purposes only, and a quick stop-gap while I build a back-log of regular videos for the channel. This film, was merely one of the many documentary/training films that I had collected over the years in a digital format.

Ireland during WW2 was pitted against the interests of possibly revenge against Great Britain and the understanding that it was a buffer of sorts between two great powers. This period of time was refereed to as the "emergency" in Ireland, and the newly independent nation was still at risk of losing all it had fought for depending on the decisions made.

The first written report of settlement of Iceland was from the Norwegians during the mid 9th century,. Some Sagas do make mention of Papars that had met the Norwegians as they landed and these were reported to have lived on the land since the mid 8th century. Papars were a group of Irish or Scottish monks referred to as the “Holy men of the north” by other Gaelic peoples. Some other sources claim these people to be monks from the Hiberno-Scottish missions however, little archeological evidence exists for either of these claims. Some cabins have been found in the Southern sections of the island that would collateral with these times but many agree that they were used as outposts only. Iceland was a commonwealth and a vassal under the Norwegian crown from the 10th century until the 13th and it was pretty much completely autonomous for most of it's existence when it came under union with the Norwegian crown.
Iceland had been under the control of two main powers during it's settled existence. Norway had control of the island for years while still a sovereign nation, When Norway was listed as a Danish Province in 1536 then the lands that were under Norwegian control were shifted to Danish control. Once Sweden gained Norway in the Treaty of Kiel in 1814, the previous Norwegian possessions were kept under Danish control. Iceland was given home rule in the 1860's and in 1918 Iceland was given independence from Denmark but was kept under personal union with the King of Denmark. On 9 April 1940, German forces launched Operation Weserübung, invading both Norway and Denmark. Denmark was subdued within a day and occupied. On the same day, the British government sent a message to the Icelandic government (as they were a personal union at this time), stating that Britain was willing to assist Iceland in maintaining her independence but would require facilities in Iceland to do so. Iceland was invited to join Britain in the war as a belligerent and an ally. The Icelandic government rejected the offer opting to stay neutral. kidtrjkpdtkptgftgf9349054890

Andorra is a small nation situated between the French and Spanish border. The small nation has existed for over 1,000 years and left pretty much un-chanced since it's creation in the late 8th century.
Before 1095, Andorra did not have any type of military protection and the Bishop of Urgell, who knew that the Count of Urgell wanted to reclaim the Andorran valleys, asked the Lord of Caboet for help and protection. In 1095 the Lord of Caboet and the Bishop of Urgell signed under oath a declaration of their co-sovereignty over Andorra. With the passage of time, the co-title to Andorra passed to the kings of Navarre. After Henry of Navarre became King Henry IV of France, he issued an edict in 1607 that established the head of the French state and the Bishop of Urgell as co-princes of Andorra. In 1812–13, the First French Empire annexed Catalonia and divided it in four departments, with Andorra being included. The annexation only lasted until 1814, when Andorra regained it's independence. Andorra declared war on Germany during World War I, but did not actually take part in the fighting since it's extremely small military was meant for only ceremonial reasons.. It remained in an official state of war until 1939 as it was not included in the Treaty of Versailles. kidtrjkpdtkptgftgf9349054890

Hello everyone.
This is a short little series that I created just to have something coming out. I'm currently in the process of working on a larger project.
Information of Afghanistan during this period in time isn't that forthcoming. That's the usual with these nations I found out. Not surprising but with my lack of time this is what I was able to figure out.
With the advent of Operation Barbarossa in June 1941, Afghanistan found itself rocked by a more serious international shockwave. The Soviet Union the great opponent of the British Empire in central Asia and ally of Afghanistan's German friends suddenly became an enemy of the Germans and a friend of the British. There was no longer any hope of playing the British against the Soviets. Soon afterward came the joint Anglo-Soviet invasion of Iran, an event which thoroughly alarmed the government, and at which point Afghanistan was surrounded by Allied-controlled territory. It became all too apparent to Kabuls government that it could suffer the same fate as its western neighbor and the government had no choice but to accede to the joint Anglo-Soviet demand in October 1941 for the expulsion of all Germans and Italians. Although due to Afghanistan's officially neutral status small diplomatic staffs were permitted to remain, by the end of the month 206 Axis nationals had departed for neutral Turkey. Some additional Italian and German diplomatic personnel were expelled in September 1943.
Afghanistan retained its neutrality but, surrounded by the possessions and occupied territories of the increasingly powerful Allied states, it became a neutrality which was as much enforced as chosen. Kabul never declared war on Germany and never broke diplomatic relations with Berlin unlike a good many other powers did near the end of the wat. Had the Wehrmacht defeated the Soviet Union, however, and had panzers appeared on its northern border, Afghanistan would not have hesitated to declare war against the Allies to gain all it could from British India. kidtrjkpdtkptgftgf9349054890

Since the Russian independence in the 15th century, land to the east was seen by many as a mythical place, homeland of the horse nomad, home to a secret power that great empires held, and fur... don't forget about the fur. Russian colonization of Siberia was a centuries long endeavor, and one that would catapult the state to have a massive stretch of territory, even though limited population existed the further east they claimed. The last major expeditions of this kind, was that of Semyon Dezhnev back in 1648. Dezhnev managed to sail around the eastern cape of Siberia, sail into the Bering strait, and go up the Anadyr River to found an outpost. A land-bridge between Siberia and the Americas, had been believed to have existed, and while Dezhnev was likely very un-aware of what was discovered, he proved that no such land bridge existed, and was the first recorded individual, to have sailed through the Bering straight. However, the debate still raged as to whether or not a land-bridge did exist, as his discover was not relied to the Russian government.
It wouldn't be until late 1724, when Tsar Peter the Great, once again called for expeditions. Early next year, was the first Kamchatka expedition, headed by Vitus Bering. This expedition, was set out to confirm if a strait existed between Asia and North America. This he managed to accomplished and had provided useful insights into the geography of Eastern Siberia. In total, the expedition surveyed more than 3500 km of the sea, which was later named after Bering. Its maps of the area were later used by all Western European cartographers.
But Berings work was not yet done, in 1733, Peter once again called upon his services, funding what would be known as the Great Northern Expedition. One of the largest expeditions within all of History. The expedition had a few goals, one being to find and map eastern Siberia, attempt to find a northern sea route from the Pacific to the Atlantic, and, if possible, explore the western shores of Northern America. All total, over 3,000 individuals were involved in this expedition, and it cost the Russian state 1.5 million rubles, one sixth of it's annual budget at the time. That very roughly translates to around 500 million US dollars in modern currency.
This expedition, discovered Alaska to the Europeans, as well as the Aluetin islands, four more island groups, and heavily mapped out the eastern Siberian and Kuril islands. However, the inability for Bering to travel above the North-Eastern tip of Siberia, did crush any dream, of a Atlantic, Pacific route, much to the dismay of Peter. Bering himself, work completed, did not get to enjoy any reprieve. After leaving the Alaskan coast in 1742, his ships were grounded in a storm and torn to pieces, the crew managed to winter over on an island, but there, Bering fell ill and died, buried, during his greatest discovery. The survivors of his crew, managed to return a year later, bringing back with them, high quality otter pelts, something, that interested many individuals indeed.

The US Presidents Before George Washington.
George Washington was not the first President of the United States. Even though he is denoted as being the first president that the nation ever had. Yet, nearly a decade existed, where multiple presidents were elected in the nation, and they played a somewhat major role, in the early formation and stability of the newly independent nation.

The first president of the United States under the Articles of Confederation was John Hanson from Maryland in 1781, who attempted to resign immediately after being elected. However, the articles didn't establish a way to nominate a successor, so he was sort of forced to stay on as president. Hanson was the Maryland's delegate to the congress and had been known for his role in financing the war in western Maryland, and was appointed to many financial positions. Maryland was reluctant to pass the articles of Confederation during this time, the main hold-up being, that many states had claims to land west of the Appalachian Mountains. As Maryland lacked any claims, they refused to sign on until the other states dropped their claims which the other states finally did, some stating that Hanson played a critical role in the compromise. Hanson being the individual to sign onto the articles, as Maryland's delegate. Being the country’s first full-term president under the Articles of Confederation meant that he oversaw programs that helped to establish daily life in the new country. For instance, Hanson held the position of president when the government started on the road to creating what would become the U.S. Post Office and the National Bank. The government also established a single, uniform currency throughout the states under his rather powerless watch. His administration also introduced the Treasury Department, the first Secretary of War, and the first Foreign Affairs Department. He led the fight to guarantee the statehood of the Western Territories beyond the Appalachian Mountains land that some of the original states owned. Following his tenure as president, Hanson died the following year in Prince George County, at the age of 62.
Elias Boudinot of New Jersey became the second president. He was originally a very successful lawyer prior to and during the Revolution. He played a huge in promoting enlistment in the area and loaning money to various commanders to be able to afford supplies that they despresetly needed. He also was a major figure in the in building up a spy network when the British occupied New York City. Later being a commissar for prisoners under General Washington's command. After being a New Jersery delegate to the National congress, he was appointed as President in 1782. His presidency coincided with the official end to the American Revolutionary War. Boudinot presided over the country when the Treaty of Paris was signed on September 3, 1783. However, the Treaty of Paris did more than simply end the war; it required that the United States be recognized as an independent country and no longer a part of the British Empire. Besides being president, Boudinot was also noteworthy for his era for advocating for the rights of both Native Americans and the black populace, as well as directly sponsoring various youth among these groups so that they could receive an education. When the US government was formed in 1789, Boudinot was elected to one of New Jersey's House of Representatives seats, A position that he'd hold until 1795, where he was appointed as Master of the Mint by George Washington.
