Air Rifle Restoration
I rescued this old Daisy Powerline 1101WS I rescued from being thrown out. I tested it to see if it worked first of course, and I was impressed! It fires the standard .177 air gun pellets at 1100 fps. It is a single shot air rifle that functions with a break barrel, spring-powered cocking system, and has a manual thumb safety that automatically engages when the rifle is cocked. The rifle is nice and hefty for an air rifle and has a heavy solid wood stock. Other than being very dirty, it had a little rust on the outside of the metal parts. Mostly the stock was beat to heck. I cleaned the rifle, took it apart, sanded and refinished the stock.
In the end we got a free air rifle that works great and all it cost was a can of stain and lacquer!

Army Sidearms: the M1911 vs M17
I am far from an expert at handguns. Throughout my military service I've fired more rounds through M16 and M4 and even the M249 SAW than an M9, M1911 or M17. There are plenty of experts out there that can tell you the exact specifications of each, yet this review is my simple take on how I like M17 vs the M1911.
While I can't say definitively which Army Service Pistol is best because I like them both. The 9mm Sig Sauer does win out in a few categories. It is interesting though after over 100 years of service the M1911 is still used today by some in the military and police forces. While the M17 has many advantages you still can't beat good ol' American 20th century ingenuity!

RIA 1911 Rock Standard Review - 9mm vs 45 ACP
For a budget 1911 the Rock Standard is a pretty good shooting pistol. We have one in each 9mm and 45 ACP. I compared them both through a few simple tests just to see for myself which caliber is best in the 1911.
I am far from an expert at handguns. I've fired more rounds through an M249 SAW than a 1911. There are plenty of experts out there, yet this review is my take on how we like our pistols so far. I tested close range (10-15yds) and longer range (about 40yds).
While I can't say definitively which caliber is best because I like them both. The 9mm does win out in a few categories. I also tested the infamous ProMag in the 45.

Escort SDX12 Review - 12 Gauge Semi Auto Magazine Fed Shotgun
This is a gun I love to hate! There is a lot I like about the SDX12 but it has some problems. Once you get past the issues, it's a fun shotgun to have. For around $500 you get what you pay for. However, a comparable AR12 style shotgun would cost you 2x that!
I'll go through the pros and cons I've discovered with this gun in this review.

South Dakota Grouse Hunt
This year grouse hunting became something of an obsession for us. It may be a lot of work for such a small bird but grouse hunting is a lot of fun. They are a tasty little bird about the size of a Cornish hen. They are much easier to spot in the late season but can be a lot of fun earlier when you scare them up from a corn field.
In this video I go through one of our favorite grouse spots in western South Dakota and a short cooking tutorial.

22LR Review - Rossi RS22 vs Ruger 10/22 Takedown
I wanted a good kid rifle to teach proper shooting techniques. Rather than blasting away with the semi auto Ruger. A magazine fed bolt action like the Rossi RS22 is the perfect rifle for young shooters.
Of course when I say I "bought a rifle for my kids" what I mean is I bought a rifle that I keep and store for them to use only under adult supervision.
The 22lr is the perfect round for kids, it's cheap with zero recoil and noise. We took both to the range to compare and contrast the shooting experience.

Sig P320 Review - Two Guns in One
Sig P320
I found the perfect full size pistol! After trying a few other full size pistols, I shot a friend's Sig M17. I instantly knew I wanted one! All my gun store had was a P320 XCompact version. All I had to do was buy the M17 module and trim it down to fit. Now I have two guns in one!
This is my review after owning the P320 for a few months. I go through how to swap out modules and my favorite holsters and accessories.

Lever Guns: Henry vs Marlin 30-30
We love our lever guns! We found this awesome 45 year old Glenfield Model 30A at our local gun store. We just had to pick it up, then we decided to put it up against our two year old Henry .30-30.
I talk about both guns and a little history behind each and we fire them both together at the range to find out which one comes out on top!
What's your favorite lever action rifle? Maybe it's one of these or a Winchester, or the newer Ruger made Marlins, or something else. Let us know in the comments!
