How to change to decora outlet without turning power off. In this video, I show you how to change a duplex outlet to a decora outlet without turning the power off. If you are on YouTube trying to learn how to do this, you really shouldn't be doing it live. With that said, I was too lazy to go find the right breaker to turn off and because I am an electrician with 30 years or so of experience, it's not a big deal for me and I did it live. Over the course of the video, I give you some pointers on where the dangers are and how to avoid them. I also talk about standard procedure, what tools you will need, and a little about the National Electrical Code. If you choose to do it live, peed at your own risk, I told you not to do it. Just some pointers on making cuts and using fencing pliers with garden wire.

Quick and easy way to tackle inside miter cut measurements, or measurements that ar longer than your tape.

I'm installing baseboards in that room, and where the boards meet in the corner, you cut the end of the boards at matching angles so that there is little to no gap at the joint. A lot of people assume that the corners in their house are 90 degrees, so they cut 45's and then when they install the boards, there is a horrible gap because none of the corners are true 90's. In the video, you can see that my corners are more than 90 degrees, or they are open, as we say in the trades. So, if I cut them at 45, they would meet at the back, but not meet in the front.
