How 3D Printing Is Disrupting The Space Industry
Establishing a base on the moon is nothing more than a matter of time. But how do we tackle the enormous traveling cost, environmental concerns, and sustainability in space?
The answer lies in 3D printing, which has become a valuable technology to promote sustainability and self-sufficiency for any space program national or international, short or long-term.
Moreover, with capabilities to detect, extract, process and utilize lunar resources (and later on Mars resources), achieving a stable and sustainable infrastructure is merely a cause-and-effect relationship that will indubitably become a reality.

World's First 3D-Printed Beef (Wagyu)
On August 24, Osaka University and Toppan researchers successfully 3D-printed Wagyu beef in their laboratory. They sought to improve the structure of 3D printed meat, which they say has so far struggled to adequately replicate the texture and layers of real meat.
#3dprinter #wagyu #innovation
the researchers took a cross-sectional image of a Wagyu cut to use as a model. It would display the required number of muscle, fat, and blood capillary cell fibers needed. According to the researchers, further improvement of their technology will not only make it possible to create complex meat structures that replicate the individual characteristics of different meat types and cuts but also to control the fat and muscle content of cultured meat.

Bitcoin Vs. The Environment | Are Cryptocurrencies Sustainable?
Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are quickly becoming a preferable alternative as a base for our financial system.
The problem: miners have the same energy requirements as a small country, introducing a very real concern for our planet’s future sustainability. With Tesla recently removing bitcoin as a form of payment for their cars, when will Bitcoin, Cardano, Ethereum, and Polka Dot truly make it to the mainstream?
In This segment, we introduce the topic of Bitcoin mining, its impact on the environment, and the future of sustainability within the crypto industry.

Proof of Work vs. Proof of Stake | What Is The Difference?
Cryptocurrencies have recently experienced a massive pullback, and right now could be a perfect time to dip your feet into the world of blockchain and cryptocurrency.
Whether you are interested in mining or simply investing in cryptocurrency, it is crucial to know the difference between the two major types, and what they mean for you. The creation and validation of cryptocurrencies and their transactions are organized into two different categories.
In this segment, we briefly describe the “proof of work” and “proof of stake consensus mechanisms.

Clearing The Great Pacific Garbage Patch | The Ocean Cleanup
Our world’s oceans are being flooded with trash. According to research by the World Economic Forum, 90% of the 80,000,000KG of trash in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch comes from only 10 rivers.
Boyan Slatt, a young entrepreneur from the Netherlands started “The Ocean Cleanup '', an ambitious non-profit with the goal of eradicating our rivers and oceans of non-degradable plastic. They believe that the waste still has value and that it should be put to use by being recycled and reintroduced into the production of new goods.
This Dutch Startup plans on tackling the 80% of plastics reaching the ocean, coming from only 1,000 rivers. To hit their target, some high-tech machinery was needed, so the Ocean Cleanup invented the river interceptor. This unit is incredibly effective at clearing waste from rivers, however, they wanted to set their sights higher, clearing the largest accumulation zone of plastic on the planet - the great pacific garbage patch.
Over the past year, The Ocean Cleanup has been testing their ocean garbage extraction method 002, named JENNY. It works by driving 2 Maersk ships in tandem, towing a 300m floating barrier between. The barrier is held up by massive floats on top, ensuring no garbage can escape from above. The net portion measures 3 meters deep, with an opening on the bottom allowing trapped fish to evade capture. The ships move at 1.5 knots and come together once a week to empty the retention zone and organize the materials onboard one of the Maersk vessels. Once organized and packaged, the materials can be sent to their corresponding recycling facilities and made into new, sustainable goods!
In mid-October, 2021, Boyan Slatt’s 12-week test campaign was deemed successful, achieving proof of technology. From nine test extractions, 28,659 kilograms (63,182 pounds) of plastic were removed from the ocean - with 9000 retrieved from a single haul.
Moving forward, The ocean cleanup plans on running their series 002 JENNY, until they launch the system’s sequel, the 003. At a length of 2.5km, system 003 is expected to be 3x larger than its predecessor. The next phase involves scaling the project, with the objective of getting 10 Jennys operational as soon as possible.
We wish The Ocean Cleanup success moving forward, taking on this insurmountable task!

Why Proof of Stake Beats Proof of Work
All consensus mechanisms are not created equal, and In this video, we will make a case for the superiority of the proof of stake system. This is a follow-up to our previous video explaining the difference between proof of work and proof of stake.
In this segment, we describe how proof of stake coins like Cardano, Tron, EOS, Tezos are better than proof of work coins in terms of transaction speed, environmental impact, accessibility, and security.
Proof of stake lifts the massive energy requirement from the network. One of the most limiting aspects of the proof of work mechanism is the energy consumed to run power-hungry mining rigs. Energy consumption associated with bitcoin equals out to around 130tWh per year according to the University of Cambridge. This is comparable to the whole of Ukraine or Argentina.
Speed is an important factor when considering the actual real-world viability of a coin. If a blockchain-based currency is going to support a future payment infrastructure, it needs to be able to handle a massive number of transactions reliably and cost-effectively. When using bitcoin in the real world, it is just too slow and much more difficult to liquidate for cash than a simple visa swipe or cash transaction. In addition, processing fees and price volatility can become very burdensome when managing many transactions.
More than 50% of the total bitcoin mining power is controlled by only 4 mining pools (most are coming out of china). This unfair system severely disadvantages smaller miners. If the miner is not able to compete in terms of computing power, they have no chance of winning.
The chance of someone fooling the network in a proof of stake system is possible but almost completely improbable. For someone to attack a proof of stake coin to this scale, the hacker would need to stake at least 51% of that cryptocurrency’s total available float. They would then need to go out into the open market and purchase more of that coin until they own 51% or more. This would drive the price up to the point where it would not make financial sense because the cost would be greater than the potential benefit of controlling the network.
