Coffee With Jesus, S2 Ep. 11: Do Christians REALLY need to go to church?
Do Christians need to go to church?
Our host will address a burning issue in the 21st century: Do Christians REALLY need to go to Church? We could share many opinions about this matter. But, does the Bible say anything about it?
“Not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” -- Hebrews 10:25
What does “meeting together” mean?
Todd examines the text in the light of the early Christian culture and compares this “gathering” concept to what the church does nowadays. He also talks about the “why” behind gathering and its impact on the Christian life. During this episode, Todd also shares a few of his own experiences.
Listen to this episode to see a biblical perspective on this topic and discover why the place of meeting is not as important as it is meeting together.

Coffee With Jesus, S2 Ep. 10: The Gift of Christmas
https://www.coffeewithjesus.info
What does Christmas mean to you?
Countless movies have explored this question. Countless sermons have been preached on this question. Countless Bible Studies have been conducted on this question, but what does Christmas mean to YOU?
In The Gift of Christmas, our Host, Ms. Yilda Rivera and her Co-Host, Todd Uebele, discuss what Christmas means to them. They also talk about the greatest gift of all, God's gift to all mankind.
“For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
One way to see this verse is as a definition of the gospel. It starts with God’s motivation and continues with God giving us a gift.
This verse is an illustration of how much God loves us. He gave us a gift…His one and only Son...Jesus.
Join us as we talk about God's Gift, and take heart about the intensity of God’s love, His gift, and the extent of Jesus’ mission.

If God is an all-powerful God…
Why does God allow bad things to happen?

But why?
Why would God allow his people to go through storms?
Listen to this episode to find out why God would allow his children to go through difficult times.
Our host, Todd, will share with us three different reasons and discuss each one of them in the light of the Scriptures.

Coffee With Jesus, Advent Devotional: The Good News of Hope
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13
Anyone who takes a step into my house knows that I fully enjoy every aspect of Christmas. I go all out with the decorating at my house. Clark Griswald? He’s an amateur. While some may think that misses the point and the spirit of Christmas. There is a reason why I enjoy Christmas to its fullest each year. One year, I almost didn’t survive Christmas.

Coffee With Jesus, S3 Ep. 8: The Power of Prayer
What is the power of prayer? How does prayer comfort those who are anxious or sinking into the depths of depression?
In Mark 11:2, Jesus tells His followers:
“So I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”
There’s immense power in the prayer of a righteous Christian.
In Matthew 18:19, Jesus says:
“If two of you agree on Earth about anything you ask, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.”
Prayer can bring you calm your fears and comfort your anxiety. Join us in this episode of Coffee With Jesus, as our host shares how powerful prayer is, and why it is so powerful. Listen and be encouraged by the most powerful tool we have as Christians: the power of prayer.

Coffee With Jesus, S2 Ep. 6: Are We in the End Times?
Are we in the end times?
Join us as our host, Todd Uebele, guides us through this topic introducing the different schools of interpretation for Biblical eschatology. Then he takes us to Matthew 24:14-23 and Revelation 6:6. He then provides two key pointers to help us determine if we are in the end times:
1) Look at the scale of events around us.
2) Examine the history where we are.
Our host gives us a glimpse of the birth pains that Jesus mentioned in Matthew 24 and of the seven seals in the book of Revelation. He discusses some events and where we are right now in the light of the Scriptures. One point of emphasis he makes: even though nobody knows the time or the hour of Jesus' return, we know that He will return.
So, are we in the end times?
No matter how we answer this question, the implication is… Where do we go from here?
For the elect, Jesus’ followers, keep sharing in love the good news of the Gospel with those who are not followers; be watchful and ready. For those who are not yet followers, there is still HOPE. There's a refreshing gift of salvation, peace, and joy that Jesus already paid for.

Coffee With Jesus, S2 Ep. 4: God on the Fly
How does fly fishing relate to our life in Christ?
Join us in God on the Fly, as our hosts Rick and Sarah reflect on what fly fishing taught them about God and loving others. The serenity they experience in fly fishing allows them to connect with the majesty of God, and the interaction with the fish speaks to them about how to value and be sensitive to the people around us. They both relate those fly-fishing experiences to their day-to-day life in their Christian journey.
Accompany Sarah as she takes you on a guided fly-fishing trip in Montana. She was looking for the opportunity to quiet her mind and center herself rather than catching a lot of fish. As she connected with nature, she got less concerned about the perfect casting technique and let the fishing rod do the work. That was when she caught the most fish. Similarly, in our walk with Christ, we need to take time to be still, let go of control, and let God do the work in us. She recalls Psalm 46:10, “Be still, and know that I am God.”
Contemplate the ripples in the water with Rick. Those ripples remind him that beneath the surface of people, a lot is going on that we don’t know. Rick talks about the need for us to be sensitive to other people’s ripples and how to cast and share our true hope with them in love.
Listen to this episode and take delight as you navigate with our hosts through vivid stories of how they found the beauty in fly fishing, which is all about interacting with the fish rather than about throwing the perfect cast. In the same way, there is not a perfect technique to be fishers of men. We only need to love others as God loves us and look for the interaction.
Let’s be still, seek those ripples, cast, and let God do the work through us.

Coffee With Jesus, S1 Ep. 11: Set Me Free
“To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you.”—Lewis B. Smedes
How do you go about forgiving someone who has wronged you? What about forgiving someone who has wronged those you love?
Countless sermons have been preached on the importance of forgiveness and our relationship with God. Countless books and commentaries have been written about how forgiveness brings healing to one’s soul. But how do you actually rid yourself of the anger that weighs your heart down?
In this episode “Set me Free,” Todd Uebele bluntly describes a season in his life where he was burdened with unforgiveness and anger toward someone who wronged him and his family while he was stationed in Afghanistan. An insatiable thirst for revenge was consuming him. Forgiveness was so irrational at the time, and unattainable.
Listen to the podcast to discover how, with God's help, Todd was able to overcome his thirst for revenge and step into the restorative experience of forgiveness.

Coffee With Jesus, S3 Ep. 7: It's OK to Not be OK
"Make haste, o God, to deliver me; make haste to help me, O Lord." (Psalm 70:1).
God is our deliverer and our strength. When times are tough, we can rely on him. With your feet firmly planted on the rock, you will not be moved, even in the fiercest of storms. While we may know this on an intellectual level, internalizing this knowledge can be tough. When going through hard times, you may still be down, stress or anxious. That's ok. It is ok to not be ok.
In this episode, our host shares his own struggles, how he tried to cover up his stress and how talking things through finally helped him. Listen and be encouraged. Learn from the mistakes of our host and reach out to your brothers and sisters in Christ when you need help.

Coffee With Jesus, S1 Ep. 10: Courage Under Fire - Overcoming Worry and Fear
How can you overcome worry and fear? How can you be filled with a peace beyond your understanding?
Through a battle with cancer, Yilda Rivera found the answer to the questions above in this verse:
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."—Philipians 4:6-7
In this episode we have a very special guest, Yilda Rivera. Yilda is a cancer survivor, a wife, mother, engineer and author of the top selling book: Courage Under Fire. In her book and in this episode, Yilda opens up about her battle with breast cancer. The intensely personal story leads us from the cancer diagnosis, through the sometimes painful process of treatment and through to a surprisingly successful outcome. This outcome doesn't have to do with overcoming cancer, but about overcoming fear and worry. Join us as she describes how God was her rock, helping her overcome fear and worry.

Coffee With Jesus, S1 Ep. 9: Here Am I, Send Me!
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”
And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” -- Isaiah 6:8
Most people called by God have one of two reactions. Isaiah's, where they enthusiastically embrace what God has called them to do, or Jonah's. Jonah hopped on a boat and went the other way. It took getting eaten by a whale and being spit up on shore for him to do God's will. In this episode, Todd explains how he is more like Jonah, but hopes you are more like Isaiah. He keeps it real and hopes you will too.

"He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock" ~ Psalm 40:2
God is always there to help us when we get bogged down in in the mire. It may not be on our timing, but it will be on HIS timing. When we are going through our storms and are stuck in the miry clay, it is important to trust HIM and know that He will rescue us, help us and make us secure. God will provide for us and meet our needs, all we need to do is trust Him.

Coffee With Jesus, S1 Ep. 2: God is in the Details
When I was leaving the navy, I was due to fly to Houston from Japan. I decided I would try a little experiment. Previously, I would fret every little detail, praying for help as every little problem arose. While there is nothing wrong with praying for help, I did so more out of anxiety then I did out of faith. This time, I told God that I would trust to be in control. If any problems came up during the trip, I would not fret or get anxious, I would simply trust in Him.

Coffee With Jesus, S3 Ep. 5: Praising God in the Valleys
Hurricane Katrina took away all his possessions and left him only with three changes of clothes and a car to temporarily live in with his family. In the middle of the chaos and the aftermath of Katrina, our host was longing for God’s comfort; he just wanted to be held by the Lord.
But then something happened that prompted him to praise. Wait. What? Praise? During the storm? Praising was something he didn’t want to do at that moment, but later discovered that he needed to.
In this episode, our host—Todd—talks about those moments when praising God is hard. He discusses the meaning of “a sacrifice of praise” in Hebrews 13:15-16, in part asking how can praise be a sacrifice?
Indeed, there are times when praising God is difficult; the storm is too harsh, and we don’t find the energy to elevate praises. But when we do, an infilling of strength and comfort helps us push through the storm. And we find ourselves being held by Jesus.
Listen to this episode to learn how Todd found the strength and comfort he needed through a sacrifice of praise—when praising God is the sacrifice. Listen to his account to know what happened afterward.

Coffee With Jesus, S3 Ep. 4: God Is ALWAYS With You
Do you ever feel like you are all alone and by yourself? Like the storm just won't end, and the waiting is too heavy to bear?
When things don’t go well, we sometimes withdraw into ourselves. After all, it’s not easy to be vulnerable…not with others; even less with God. But when we retreat into ourselves, we may miss God’s promise in Romans 8:38-39.
In this episode of Coffee With Jesus, our hosts, Sara and Todd, talk about how they were able to experience God’s presence in the middle of emotional distress and anxiety. How did they experience God’s presence and comfort when God seemed so distant?
They each make themselves vulnerable and share their stories, their stresses, their anxieties. They share how God was with them, even when it was tough to feel his presence, and how God did show He was with them.
Listen to this episode to discover how to avoid staying trapped by burdens and feelings that you are all alone. This episode will encourage you to know that no matter what is troubling you, God is waiting at the door for you to invite Him into your situation.
And if you need prayer, let us know how we can pray for you.
