Circadian Friendly Light Bulbs with Daniel Ebbett
"Are your light bulbs making you sick? Discover the shocking truth about artificial light and its impact on your health in this eye-opening episode of the Quantum Biology Collective podcast. Host Meredith Oke dives deep into the world of circadian-friendly lighting with guest Daniel Ebbett, founder of Block Blue Light. Daniel shares his personal journey of overcoming insomnia and migraines by optimizing his light environment. Learn why artificial light at night is a toxin, the dangers of blue light, and the harmful effects of flicker and EMFs. But Daniel also reveals the solution; circadian-friendly light bulbs that address all these issues.
Quotes:
"I'm not even like sleeping. I'm kind of like just being tranquilized and then waking up feeling like so much worse." - Daniel Ebbett (06:08)
"Warm white, cool white, whatever white, as long as it's an LED standard conventional light, it's got lots of blue light in it. It's not good for us." (29:25 | Daniel Ebbett)
"On sub-level to our cells, it's like a strobe light or something, where it's just like this really intense stimulation that we're not consciously aware of, but it's still affecting our physiology on some level." (31:19 | Daniel Ebbett)
"So big picture, what we're trying to do is to keep our indoor lighting as close to possible as sort of what's happening outside, which is like a gradual change in the brightness and a gradual change in the color temperature of the light." (45:09 | Meredith Oke)
"We're not designed to stay awake hours and hours past sunset. We're artificially being kept awake by the lighting that we turn on and use to see, right? So it's quite interesting when you see people that are used to that and they're like, no, no, no, I'm like a night owl. And then they start trying this and like, holy, I just can't stay awake in the evenings. I'm so tired. And it's like, that's how you're supposed to feel." (50:54 | Daniel Ebbett)
"So the rule of thumb with the blue blocking glasses is ‘A’, if they're genuinely blocking blue light, they're going to have dark orange or reddish lenses. And ‘B’, you only want to wear those dark orange or reddish lenses when it's dark out or as it's getting dark, because it's going to tell your body it's nighttime. So if it's daytime, you don't want to wear them, even if you're on your computer or in harsh lighting." (1:00:07 | Meredith Oke)

The Quantum Secrets of Bees with Amber Hargroder
Discover the connection between bees and quantum biology in this captivating episode of the Quantum Biology Collective podcast. Join host Meredith Oke as she delves into the world of bees with guest Amber Hargroder, a modern-day Renaissance woman with a deep understanding of beekeeping and quantum biology. Through the metaphor of bees, Amber explores key principles of quantum biology, highlighting the importance of our connection to nature for our health and well-being. Learn how bees communicate through light, navigate their environment, and create structured water, all while embodying a sense of love and unity within their hive. Uncover the fascinating parallels between bees and humans, and gain insights into the regenerative power of bees when left to their natural instincts!
Quote:
"Consider each hive a cell and each bee a mitochondria. The honey is structured water that the mitochondria produce." (12:08 | Amber Hargroder)
"The bees teach us how to listen to that [vibration and frequency]. And, you know, quantum biology principles and structured water aside, I think one of the things that the bees teach us is what love means." (18:04 | Amber Hargroder)
"So, if you're a conventionally kept hive, the pollen that you're getting is not going to have the diversity that it would normally have. And so even being mixed with these enzymes, and again, they don't have the genetic diversity, so they don't have a diversity of gut bacteria either." (36:00 | Amber Hargroder)
"So, they are in complete relationship with the sun at all times and they are bringing that… and if light is information that is the information they are also bringing back into the hive to teach their young." (40:59 | Amber Hargroder)
"If you want to help bees just plant native plants. The best thing about planting native plants is they want to be there. So you don't have to baby them. You don't have to worry about them. They'll just do their thing. And I think that's more the direction, you know, trust your own instincts, trust yourself, trust that nature has got it, like just give it the tools that it needs to succeed. And it will do that. And the same thing as with your health, it's taking away things that are preventing you from being healthy while giving you, kind of setting you up for success, with small lifestyle changes that may seem inconsequential, but they do add up." How To Be Your Own Quantum Health Detective With MovNat Coach John Warner
"I did everything wrong for about 48 years of my life… I used to be the guy that could eat anything, I avoided the sun, I drank a pot of coffee every day, and I lived in an environment with cell phone towers and radiation," says John Warner.
In this episode of the podcast, host Meredith Oke welcomes guest John Warner to share his personal health journey and the transformative insights he gained along the way. John's story begins with a family history of cancer, including the loss of his father and several aunts and uncles. Faced with the devastating reality that the medical community had no answers, John embarked on a quest to uncover the truth about health and wellness.
John's journey started with the typical approach of focusing on food and exercise. He adopted fasting and a healthy diet, which did have some positive effects on his well-being. However, it wasn't until he discovered the importance of sunlight and circadian rhythms that his health truly began to shift. John realized that his family's lack of sun exposure and excessive artificial light exposure may have played a significant role in their cancer diagnoses.
With this newfound knowledge, John made intentional changes to his lifestyle. He started watching the sunrise every morning, soaking up the healing rays of sunlight. He also prioritized high-quality sleep and mitigated his exposure to artificial light after sunset. The results were remarkable. John experienced improved sleep, increased energy, and a greater sense of well-being.
But the journey didn't end there. In a surprising turn of events, John received a cancer diagnosis himself. However, armed with his newfound understanding of quantum biology and the power of light, he faced the challenge head-on. John opted for surgery to remove the tumor on his kidney, knowing that he had the tools to support his body's healing process.
Through his story, John reminds us that our health is not solely determined by our genetics. Environmental factors, such as light exposure and lifestyle choices, play a significant role in our well-being. By embracing the principles of quantum biology and harnessing the power of sunlight and circadian rhythms, we can take control of our health and potentially prevent or overcome serious illnesses.
Quotes:
"I started digging into blogs, podcast, and I figured out my food was pretty good. I was eating right. But I started eating seasonal and local." (13:30 | John Warner)
"I just lay in the sun all day and then I'd get an ice bath. So I'd get in 45, 50 degrees ice a couple of times a day." (22:22 | John Warner)
"So I go the next morning, get an MRI. And I have a tumor on my right kidney, about a six month tumor." (00:30:55 | John Warner)
I'm cancer free. I still get in the sun all the time. Now, I'm human. There's days where I I'm busy. I've slowed down since I've had surgery. So I can spend more time in the sun. See, a lot of people don't want to change their paradigm or their, how they live. They just want to keep doing the same thing, you know, and I, you can't get sick, can't get well in the same environment you got sick in. And you can't get well, keep doing the same thing that got you sick. You have to be able to change. And so I've even changed my work and my schedule so I can be outside more, so I can be with my family more, so I can be in a nice bath more. I don't have to travel as much and drive around as much. So you just, you have to be willing to change. And most people aren't willing to change nowadays. They're just doing the same old thing. (51:12 | John Warner)
“Science is very complex. The application of it is very simple.” (45:29 | Meredith Oke)

How To Feel Truth In Your Body: A Conversation with Perri Chase
"The truth is a thread. It's like a river that runs through everything," says Perri Chase.
In this episode of the Quantum Biology Collective podcast, host Meredith Oke engages in a deep conversation with “accidental” spiritual teacher, Perri Chase. The episode delves into the process of modern-day spiritual awakenings and the importance of cultivating inner light for physical healing.
Perri shares her powerful message of cosmic truth in simple and direct language. She emphasizes the importance of energetic mastery and understanding the laws of energy that surround us. Perri encourages listeners to open themselves up to their higher and highest selves, bringing that higher self into their lived experience.
The conversation between Meredith and Perri is filled with authenticity and vulnerability. They discuss the unraveling process that often accompanies spiritual awakenings, likening it to unraveling a sweater. Perri and Meredith encourage listeners to trust their intuition and follow their own unique paths. They emphasize the power of holding space for truth and not getting caught up in debates or trying to convince others. Instead, they advocate for embodying truth and allowing it to speak for itself.
Quotes:
"We are in a time of mass awakening. People are having awakenings and they're living in a world where that awakening does not make any sense." (10:24 | Perri Chase)
"The practice of staying open in the body and going slow and continuously being committed to that opening is a very important part of healing." (21:11 | Perri Chase)
"The truth sort of speaks for itself. You just kind of hold it and represent it. You do not need to bang it over people's heads. It just is. It's an ‘is’-ness. And they don't have to accept it for it to be true." (37:34 | Perri Chase)

Change Your Lightbulbs, Change Your Life? Meredith Oke & Kelli Ritter: Why Circadian Rhythms Matter
We're doing something different this week by airing an interview that the lovely Dr. Kelli Ritter of the Nourished Soul podcast did with our own Meredith Oke. Listeners have been asking for an episode that covers the basics of starting in a circadian lifestyle, and this episode does a great job of sharing Meredith's very own journey.
Meredith realized that traditional health advice wasn't working for her. So she decided to look into alternative ways to improve her wellness and address her chronic fatigue. This search led her to quantum biology and the important role of light in our health.
During the episode, Meredith discusses the core elements of a lifestyle that aligns with our body's natural rhythms, which includes smart light habits. She also talks about living in different countries and how she managed to stay healthy despite various challenges. Throughout the episode, Meredith encourages us to keep an open mind and follow our gut feelings. She encourages listeners who are ingesting lots of health and wellbeing content to be patient with themselves and start with small, easy changes like spending more time outdoors and using softer lighting in the evening to better align with our body's rhythms.
This is a great episode to learn more about following your intuition, and using excellent resources, like The Quantum Biology Collective Podcast and leveraging resources like the experts within the Quantum Biology Collective to help you understand the powerful impact of using your natural circadian biology to enhance your health.
Quotes:
"I somehow decided to just hand my life over to my intuition and not to that part of our minds that wants to plan everything and make it fit in boxes." (02:34 | Meredith Oke)
"I didn't become protective of my indoor light till I learned really more about the circadian biology and understanding quantum biology." (27:18 | Dr. Kelli Ritter)
"So we just started very slowly making videos and interviewing as many experts as we could find on the topic and organizing the information for people who were not in a place where they were going to spend like hundreds of hours sifting through." (31:48 | Meredith Oke)

Does Our Environment Matter More Than Our Genes? With Sara Pugh, PhD
"The genes sort of load the crossbow and the environment pulls the trigger," says Sara Pugh.
In the latest Quantum Biology Collective podcast, Meredith Oke teams up with returning guest, Sara Pugh. Sara has a degree in Biochemistry Genetics, a PhD in Molecular Mechanisms, as well as training in Functional Neurology, Pilates, and Hypnosis. Sara and Meredith dissect the interplay between our genetics and our environment and provide a great orientation for QBC listeners who are newer to the topic.
Dispelling the notion that genes alone shape our health, Sara introduces the environment as a crucial activator, determining gene expression. Zeroing in on light, she reveals how our skin and eyes capture different light wavelengths, influencing our genes and the vital mitochondria.
Sara underscores the ripple effects of light on our health, showing how misaligned exposure can contribute to conditions like obesity or mood disorders. Advocating for alignment with natural rhythms, she emphasizes morning sun exposure and genuine nighttime darkness, and natural unprocessed food.
Sara offers actionable insights, suggesting ways to mitigate modern lifestyle pitfalls, from grounding oneself to harnessing natural light indoors. There is an illustrative story in this episode which involves a truck driver whose outdoor meals ignited a significant health turnaround!
Quotes:
"The important thing to understand is that the genes sort of load the crossbow and the environment pulls the trigger." (02:04 | Sara Pugh)
"Our bodies go into chaos and they don't know what to do when we give an incorrect signal, like bright light when it's supposed to be dark or darkness when it's supposed to be day." (11:37 | Sara Pugh)
"So in the old paradigm, their genetics determine everything. And then the old paradigm, like an ice cream cone is an ice cream cone. It has this many calories and this many grams of fat and that's that. But in the quantum paradigm, walking to the ice cream parlor and getting an ice cream and walking outside in the sunshine while you eat it has a different effect than eating an ice cream cone at home, watching television when it's dark outside and you're being bombarded by even though the ice cream may have the same calories and the same fat, the effect on your body is totally different depending on the environment and the actions that you're taking while you're eating it." (31:20 | Meredith Oke)
"We want to increase the signals that create coherence in the body. Those signals tend to come from nature and natural food, things that nature produced." (43:28 | Sara Pugh)
"The light and other frequencies give the signal to our bodies to be in coherence and that when our bodies are in coherence, we feel better." (45:44 | Sara Pugh)

The Healing Power of Light: A Journey to Health for a Child with Down Syndrome with Nicole Hartman
"We all feel better when we're outside." says Nicole Hartman.
In the latest episode of the Quantum Biology Collective podcast, host Meredith Oke welcomes Nicole Hartman of Circadian Family Wellness. They delve deep into Nicole's journey of understanding the intrinsic rhythms of our bodies and the crucial role of healthy light habits, particularly beneficial for her son with Down syndrome.
Nicole and her husband, both immersed in physical education, consistently valued health and wellness. But their son's Down syndrome diagnosis introduced a unique set of health challenges. As he grew, autoimmune disorders like thyroid issues and type 1 diabetes became apparent.
In pursuit of effective solutions, Nicole ventured into quantum health, uncovering the profound connection between our body's natural rhythms and holistic well-being. By embracing strategies like morning sun exposure and minimizing blue light at dusk, she noticed a significant uplift in her family's health. Sleep became more restorative, and her son's cognitive and communication skills sharpened.
Exploring further, Nicole recognized the benefits of red light therapy and molecular hydrogen. These treatments bolstered her son's mitochondrial function and were aligned with the body's natural cycles. Her experience underlined the challenges that individuals with Down syndrome might face concerning optimal body rhythms. Yet, with lifestyle adjustments that echo our intrinsic rhythms, their quality of life can see marked improvement.
This episode highlights the interplay between our health and the body's natural rhythms, emphasizing the transformative potential of even minor adjustments. By aligning with nature's cues and creating rhythm-conscious environments, we can pave the way for heightened health and vitality.
Quotes:
"Gut health amongst people with Down syndrome is extremely sensitive, just like the rest of their body is extremely sensitive to any light, any chemical, anything that's creating chaos, because it almost seems like there's chaos in the body to begin with, which you would probably attribute to like poor mitochondrial function is where I would go with it." (8:00 | Nicole Hartman)
"I think ideally all humans would would be in a in a better health state if we if we lived by light and dark - the natural light and dark cycles. (18:22 | Meredith Oke)
"It's saying that I have, or we have, a hand in his health and we're not going to just throw our hands up. And like you said, it's not it's not a life sentence because he has a beautiful life. And we're just choosing to interact with nature and use that to bring about health. And that gives you a little more hope." (38:52 | Nicole Hartman)

Natural Movement, Breathwork & Holistic Well-being with Fitness Legend Erwan Le Corre
"If your biology isn't taken care of, you can't live optimally. You cannot have the highest quality of life possible." - Erwan Le Corre
In his decades long exploration of natural physical movement, Erwan Le Corre, the founder of MovNat, has pioneered trends in physical conditioning and taught people all over the world how to move outdoors naturally, reclaim their vitality and become strong and vibrant. In this episode, Meredith Oke and Erwan dive into Erwan's wilderness wisdom and discuss the transformative power of natural outdoor movement.
Think back to our childhood movements – crawling, rolling, climbing, and hanging. Our bodies inherently knew how to navigate the world. Erwan and Meredith address these foundational natural movements, often overshadowed in modern fitness routines, emphasizing their importance not just for physical freedom but for holistic health. They also explore the physical and spiritual aspects of breath-hold work, practices Erwan believes can fortify our bodies and minds, fostering resilience, calm, and well-being.
Erwan's approach isn't just about movement and breathwork; it's a whole-life philosophy of physical, mental, and spiritual connectedness and intention. He calls us outdoors, advocating for a connection with nature, the magic of fresh air, and the therapeutic benefits of natural light. He advocates for deep reflection over quick solutions and encourages a commitment to self-awareness so that self-care can follow. As we declutter our lives of junk and distractions and realign with what is truly fulfilling to us, energy, vitality, and overall life satisfaction become more available.
Quotes:
“When you talk about the natural movement of animals, they're obviously outside all the time. And humans evolved doing these movements outside. So we are limiting ourselves in this, both in the scope of our movement and in the inputs that we're getting by doing those limited movements inside in an artificial environment without all the inputs of nature.” (11:22 | Meredith Oke)
“But if your biology isn't taken care of, you can't live optimally. You cannot have the highest quality of life possible. And so what is biology is to understand energies, frequencies, movement, influences, everything that can affect how you feel, how your energy system is expressed, or is nourished, or is nurtured. These are not just some pretty words. It's very important. Sleep, sun, earth, movement, food, relationship to others, mental life, emotional life, spiritual life, all of that all together. Everything needs to be taken care of and to connect and to be aligned." (12:22 | Erwan Le Corre)
“Find what's deeply satisfying. And typically what's deeply satisfying is really healthy. That it is a connection with nature. A connection with loved ones. A connection with the spirit that is everywhere within us, around us, above us. That is God. Realize the profoundness of life. And don't settle for less." (28:52 | Erwan Le Corre)
“You're not supposed to be indoors all day. You're not supposed to be sitting all day. You're not supposed to feed yourself with junk all day. You're not supposed to put that junk in your body. You're not supposed to put that junk in your mind. You're not supposed to deal with that junk. There's junk everywhere. It's toxic. Just clean that up.” (32:58 | Erwan Le Corre)

Circadian Scientist Dr. Martin Moore-Ede - How Artificial Light At Night Leads To Diabetes & More
"I don't think it's an exaggeration to say the majority of breast cancer cases today in the Westernized world are related to light exposure, seeing the wrong light at the wrong time, which is huge." - Dr. Martin Moor-Ede
In this episode of the Quantum Biology Collective podcast, host Meredith Oke interviews Dr. Martin Moor-Ede, a leading expert on circadian clocks and the health problems caused by artificial light at night. Dr. Moor-Ede, a former professor at Harvard Medical School, shares his journey into circadian medicine and the groundbreaking discoveries he made about the impact of light on our bodies.
Dr. Moor-Ede explains how exposure to blue-rich light at night disrupts our circadian rhythms, leading to a range of health issues including sleep disorders, fatigue, obesity, diabetes, and even cancer. He emphasizes the importance of regulated circadian rhythms for overall health and highlights the need for greater awareness and education on this topic. He also discusses the challenges in the lighting industry and the urgent need for better lighting solutions that prioritize our health. This conversation sheds light on the practical strategies and feasible actions we can adopt to protect our circadian rhythms and improve our human health.
Quotes:
"The trouble is the people who know this stuff and know the science already, and maybe in the lighting industry, you know, all talk to each other. But the rest of the world is pretty unaware of some of this and it’s really important for everybody to understand." (01:53 | Dr. Martin Moor-Ede)
“And around 2007, the World Health Organization came out with this finding that was stunning. The conclusion was, looking at all the research, including the work I mentioned, it was pretty clear that that light at night was a carcinogen. And that it was related to exposure to light at night and it suppressed melatonin and it precipitated or accelerated cancer.” (15:36 | Dr. Martin Moor-Ede)
"Blue light during the day - you are sitting outside there with a beautiful daylight coming in. You're getting bathed in a lot of blue. That is critical to keeping the circadian clock synchronized today. As soon as it is dusk, you want to get rid of all the blue." (23:45 | Dr. Martin Moor-Ede)
"Blue light does a number of things. It interferes with our glucose metabolism. We developed something called insulin resistance. That was the body does not respond to insulin and hence insulin has to be pumped out more. And this is an effect you can get immediately the first night you expose to blue light." (29:03 | Dr. Martin Moor-Ede)

Quotes
"I remember standing in the hospital telling my mom, ‘I'm going to do this with my life. I'm going to become a doctor and I'm gonna help other people keep their people that they love around for a long time’. And so that's what I set out to do." (Candice | 02:29)
"Our job is to get the hell out of the way and let this thing run the way it's supposed to run. And the problem is that so much of what's present in the modern world interferes with that. And so what we see as quote unquote aging is really a malfunction in the system that is supposed to repair and keep us young." (Candice | 27:45)
“My job is to teach patients how to listen to their body and get their body to heal them themselves by creating that trust that we have lost.” (Candice | 30:30)
"Empowering aspects of [medicine], it wasn't necessarily even about having all the answers. I felt the responsibility of having all the answers, but I always imagined what a doctor was because I saw what happened with my grandfather... It's like, I have to have a tribe. I need other people that think like me." (Candice | 1:15:10)

From Pharmaceuticals To Photobiomodulation With Rebel Scientist Sarah Turner
“I'm targeting the blood, I'm targeting the mitochondria, I'm also targeting the water. And by using four distinct wavelengths, you are maximizing your chance of hitting a chromophore that's going to have a therapeutic effect,” explains Sarah Turner, a neuroscientist turned biohacker and host of the Rebel Scientist podcast. Sarah’s experience working in pharmaceuticals led her to begin exploring quantum biology, specifically photobiomodulation or red light therapy. Her background in neurology informed her desire to research how light may be able to impact the brain, particularly in people with neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson’s. In this episode, Sarah speaks with host Meredith Oke about her company CeraThrive and their new photobiomodulation device for healing along the gut-brain axis.
There is a common misconception that it is entirely dark within the skull, but light does penetrate into the brain. While it is a small amount of light that makes it through, it is still enough to provide significant therapeutic effects. Photobiomodulation takes advantage of the body’s many natural light receptors, using four distinct wavelengths to target the blood, mitochondria, and structured water. When people are exposed to the correct light frequencies at the right times of day, this light aids the body with its repair processes. With CeraThrive’s red light therapy system composed of both the device and a convenient app, people can regain control over their own health and healing without the need for pharmaceuticals.
Whether you are suffering from a neurodegenerative disease like Parkinson’s or simply want to improve your overall health while also reducing chronic pain, red light therapy devices like CeraThrive can help. When combined with circadian lifestyle changes like grounding and seeing the sunrise and sunset, photobiomodulation promotes optimal brain functioning and full body healing.
Quotes
“It's a small amount of light that actually penetrates through and gets onto the surface of the brain. However, it is enough to have a therapeutic effect.” (26:15 | Sarah)
“I'm targeting the blood, I'm targeting the mitochondria, I'm also targeting the water. And by using four distinct wavelengths, you are maximizing your chance of hitting a chromophore that's going to have a therapeutic effect.” (28:29 | Sarah)
“We've evolved under natural light. We're meant to be exposed to certain light frequencies at certain times of the day… It's actually a very natural thing.” (34:41 | Sarah)
“We really are just animals that have taken ourselves out of our environment. The more we can kind of put ourselves back there in that natural environment, potentially, the more benefit we can get from it.” (37:02 | Sarah)

Strongman Robert Jacobs On Circadian Timed Eating & Exercising
“You have to change your lifestyle. Otherwise, nothing else is going to change,” explains Robert Jacobs, strength and conditioning coach and competitive strongman. As a coach and competitor, Robert has firsthand experience on the benefits of proper strength training and conditioning. Even non-athletes can benefit tremendously from basic strength training for increased muscle mass and longevity. As a big proponent of the incredible power of small changes for influencing bigger long term change, Robert prefers lifestyle changes over short term, band aid type solutions like supplements. In this episode, Robert speaks with host Meredith Oke about the benefits of circadian timed eating and exercising for overall health and wellness.
Small changes like getting up and seeing the sunrise each morning can lead to huge improvements in health. The busy way modern people live is often completely out of rhythm with the natural way the human body was designed to work. People worry so much about what they are eating, that they do not realize ‘what’ is only part of the picture. In many cases, when you eat actually plays a larger role on your body than what you eat. Your body is meant to follow a diurnal rhythm. When you eat dinner after dark or snack on carbs late at night, you are confusing your body’s signals and reducing your ability to rest and recover during sleep. When you align your eating habits and exercise times with the natural circadian rhythm, you will gain muscle mass, lose weight, sleep better, and perform better throughout the day.
Everyone knows that eating right and exercising are essential for a healthy lifestyle. What people may not realize is that the timing of when you eat and exercise may actually play a larger role in your overall health and fitness than what you are eating or the types of exercise you are doing. If you are looking to improve your health, start with small changes. Even the littlest change in your habits can have big results.
Quotes
“You have to change your lifestyle. Otherwise, nothing else is going to change.” (31:33 | Robert)
“The majority of your carbohydrates should be in the afternoon because that is instant energy.” (34:49 | Robert)
“A metabolically normal individual is essentially pre-diabetic after sunset.” (36:29 | Robert)
“As you move through non REM and REM sleep, you are paralyzed. You're not supposed to be processing food.” (41:22 | Robert)
“When you eat matters as much if not more than what you eat.” (48:12 | Robert)
“Intense difficult exercise on an empty stomach is worse for you than it is better in the long run.” (1:14:37 | Robert)

Dr. Max Gulhane on Why Light Is The Key To Regenerative Health
“Getting your feet on the bare earth and watching the morning sunrise is the cheapest health intervention in maybe the history of the world,” explains Dr. Max Gulhane, MD. As a family physician and host of the Regenerative Health Podcast, Dr. Gulhane is teaching people all over the world about the importance of a healthy circadian rhythm. His own experiences with trying to heal from terrible acne in his 20s led Dr. Gulhane to recognize the critical blind spots of traditional Western medicine. The strong pharmaceuticals he was prescribed left him with undesirable psychological side effects and the widely recommended plant-based diet only made his condition worse. When he discovered the low carb lifestyle and carnivore diet, his health improved dramatically, but there was one component still missing - light. In this episode, Dr. Gulhane explains how natural health interventions like regulating circadian rhythm are the key to regenerative health.
Without a biologically attuned light environment, your body does not have the opportunity to regenerate its health. This is because without the cues from the absence or presence of sunlight, the brain is unable to send the correct signals to your body that let it know when it is time to wake up, sleep, and eat. Nowadays, people typically live in homes overrun by artificial light sources and EMF waves from WiFi. These conditions are not biologically appropriate for health as the human body has evolved over thousands of years to work in alignment with the sun. When you surround yourself with artificial light and miss out on watching the sunrise and sunset, your body misses critical cues which leads to circadian dysfunction like the inability to create enough melatonin. Without melatonin, you may suffer from insomnia, making it more difficult for your body to recover.
Sleep provides a much needed opportunity for health regeneration. When sleep is interrupted by a toxic light environment, people begin to experience more serious health issues. If you are looking to heal your body holistically and have only focused on diet, start looking at your light environment and lifestyle to see where you can make circadian improvements.
Quotes
“Food diet, light diet. Optimal health lies somewhere in the middle.” (14:40-14:45 | Dr. Gulhane)
“Just like there is junk food, there's also junk light.” (17:01-17:04 | Dr. Gulhane)
“Morning light is critical, because it's essentially setting you up not only to start the day, but it's also setting you up for that night's sleep later in the day.” (30:17-30:29 | Dr. Gulhane)
“Getting your feet on the bare earth and watching the morning sunrise is the cheapest health intervention in maybe the history of the world.” (42:14-42:24 | Dr. Gulhane)

How A Holistic Movement Specialist Used Quantum Health Strategies To Recover
Full Title: How A Holistic Movement Specialist Used Quantum Health Strategies To Recover From An AutoImmune Nightmare
“I worked with all of these different things for about a year and a half. And when I had another blood test, those autoimmune antibodies were gone,” shares Rachel Tudor, True Nature Movement Specialist. Rachel is a former ballet dancer turned quantum practitioner and internationally recognized presenter on bio tensegrity and fascia. In 2021, her health went completely haywire due to an adverse reaction to a heavily recommended pharmaceutical injection. Discovering the circadian lifestyle and understanding the gradual healing process of the body ultimately gave Rachel the quantum health strategies necessary to heal from her body’s debilitating autoimmune reaction. In this episode, Rachel explains how she paired holistic movement with quantum biology to recover her health.
When Rachel’s autoimmune nightmare began, she was experiencing a multitude of symptoms including severe and immobilizing vertigo, neurological changes that mimicked a TBI, histamine reactivity, chronic pain, and extreme fatigue. She tried nearly every suggestion to heal herself, from supplements to medications, but she continued to get worse and worse. Everything started to change when Rachel discovered quantum health and began following a circadian lifestyle. Since she was fully immobile, her husband carried her outside daily for UVA and UVB exposure, where she engaged in healing frequencies through wiggling her fingers and humming. After months of doing this, she became strong enough to return to Jin Shin Jyutsu, an energy healing art that ended up dramatically improving her vertigo. She understood that repatterning the fascia in her body would take time and consistency. Sticking to the circadian lifestyle and combining it with holistic movement ultimately paid off, healing her body’s autoimmune reaction and drastically improving her quality of life.
It takes time to change your body’s habits and the patterning of your fascia. By leveraging your external environment and aligning your lifestyle to your natural biology, you can help move the repatterning process along. Even though Rachel’s autoimmune reaction was largely a mystery to doctors and there was very little information available on how to treat it, she did not give up. Instead, she fully committed to living a circadian lifestyle and applied quantum health modalities to the healing power of movement, stunning her doctors with a complete reversal of her autoimmune dysfunction.
Quotes
“You're just one whole integrated being, and that's all you've ever been.” (6:33-6:37 | Rachel)
“It’s not like, go outside and do this for a week and bam, you’ll be better…slowly but surely, like I was saying, things started to improve.” (39:54-40:29 | Rachel)
“The efficacy of those kinds of modalities is increased if you're also living a circadian life.” (41:06-41:15 | Rachel)
“You can be looking at six months to two years to really bring on long lasting change in terms of the structure of your fascia.” (44:46-44:58 | Rachel)
“I worked with all of these different things for about a year and a half. And when I had another blood test, those autoimmune antibodies were gone.” (55:13-55:25 | Rachel)

How To Be Your Own Quantum Health Detective with Wellness Practitioner Laura Kissmann
“We are batteries made out of water charged by sunlight,” explains Quantum Health Clinician and Educator, Laura Kissmann. Without exposure to natural light, the circadian rhythm that controls all the biological processes in the body will become misaligned. Although Laura now spends her time performing energy healing through quantum health practices such as red light therapy and access bars, she did not start out this way. Laura spent decades serving in the Canadian military as well as four years in an underground bunker surrounded by EMF while working for NORAD. In this episode, Laura shares her career and health history for a side by side analysis of what her environmental conditions were at the time each of her symptoms developed.
Environmental conditions that are out of alignment with the body’s biological needs are at the root of all disease. Although it would be decades before Laura understood the connection between her environment and her numerous physical symptoms, she began to put the pieces together much earlier that something about her lifestyle was negatively impacting her health. When Laura began her military career, she was a young, healthy athlete. Then came decades of being forced to wear shoes that caused her to develop plantar fasciitis, followed by spending twelve hours per day in an underground bunker under fluorescent lighting, surrounded by EMF signals. After the birth of her first child, Laura was sicker than ever, experiencing symptoms that turned out to be hyperthyroidism, leaky gut, intestinal parasites, and chemical sensitivity.
Looking back through Laura’s health history alongside her environmental conditions gives valuable insight into how circadian dysfunction caused her health to decline. When you take the time to analyze your physical and mental health symptoms through the lens of quantum biology, the immense impact of your environment on your health will become more and more clear. Be your own quantum health detective and see where your own environment may be misaligned with your body’s natural biology.
Quotes
“Sometimes people can't fully get well, if they don't address the traumas, the mental emotional stuff.” (3:13-3:21 | Laura)
“With Access Bars, at worst, it's a relaxing massage, and at best it changes your whole life.” (9:27-9:33 | Laura)
“The environment that we put our body in and the type of exposure that our body receives in that environment is the absolute most critical thing.” (35:58-36:07 | Meredith)
“Circadian rhythm controls every process in the body, and circadian rhythm is controlled by natural light.” (44:02-44:08 | Meredith)
“You want to be synced with the sun. If you're not synced with the sun, it's going to lead to disease in the body.” (58:22-58:30 | Laura)

Heather Crimson Explains How To Cultivate Energy, Confidence & Security Without Medication
“If you aren't embracing or exposing yourself to natural light or the principles of quantum biology, and all the things about ourselves as electromagnetic beings, it's going to compromise your health and that includes your mental health,” explains Heather Crimson, quantum therapist and experienced marriage and family counselor. The Western medical model heavily relies on prescribing medications even for mild and moderate cases of depression and anxiety. These pills act as a Bandaid rather than actually working out the root causes of the patients’ dysregulation. In this episode, Heather debunks myths about SSRI efficacy and shares her sunlight prescription for cultivating energy, confidence and security without medication.
There is a vast lack of knowledge within the medical community when it comes to the impact of sunlight on mental health. Due to busy modern lifestyles filled with artificial light, most people are living in a way that actively works against their body’s natural biology. Although there is no research showing that SSRIs help with depression or even that serotonin is the main driver for depression, they are the most commonly prescribed treatment, even for mild cases. These medications often cause damaging side effects and do nothing to treat the lifestyle factors that are at the root of circadian dysfunction. By getting morning sunlight, reducing artificial light exposure, and blocking blue light in the evenings, your circadian rhythm will begin to properly regulate itself and you will see a marked improvement in both mental and physical health symptoms, all without the help of any medications.
People are quick to discount the efficacy of self care, because it sounds too simple and it is easier to think of a pill as a cure. As electromagnetic beings, humans are designed to get their energy from the sun and nature. When you start to live in a way that aligns with your biology, you will be amazed at how much better you feel.
Quotes
“If you aren't embracing or exposing yourself to natural light or the principles of quantum biology, and all the things about ourselves as electromagnetic beings, it's going to compromise your health and that includes your mental health.” (4:41-4:55 | Heather)
“There's an energy problem in their neurotransmitter function, in their hormonal function; and that is the issue.” (13:27-13:35 | Heather)
“There's no research that shows that SSRIs help, or that serotonin is actually the cause of depression.” (14:15-14:22 | Heather)
“We're not living in a way that supports our biology.” (25:07-25:12 | Heather)

Preventing Heart Attacks with Quantum Cardiologist Dr Michael Twyman
“If you don't mind your mitochondria at night, it does not matter what you do the next day,” explains Dr. Michael Twyman, board certified cardiologist. Dr. Michael began working in traditional cardiology in 2012 and realized that there was a lack of focus on preventative measures to help stop people from having heart problems in the first place. In 2020, he opened his own clinic to address preventative heart health by applying quantum principles. In this episode, Dr. Michael shares his top tips for preventing heart attacks through healing mitochondrial dysfunction.
There are up to 5,000 mitochondria per heart cell. With so many mitochondria fueling the heart, it stands to reason that when the mitochondria are not getting enough energy to function properly, then heart health will decline. There are many preventative measures one can take to protect their heart, but at the base level, it all comes down to sunlight and sleep. Simply by seeing the sunrise each day and getting good quality sleep, you will significantly lower your risk for heart attacks. Sleep is key, because during sleep the mitochondria undergo the repair process. Issues like congestive heart failure and atrial fibrillation are linked to sleep apnea, so it is critical to mind your circadian rhythm and make improving your sleep a top priority.
Most people do not think about their heart health until something goes wrong. Instead of waiting for a heart attack to address your heart health, start taking preventative measures today.
Quotes
“My number one thing is, always see the morning sunrise.” (6:02-6:06 | Dr. Michael)
“A lot of heart rhythm issues such as A. Fibrillation are often associated with obstructive sleep apnea.” (12:22-12:28 | Dr. Michael)
“Sleep is not when you end your day. You have to think of sleep as when you begin your day.” (16:31-16:36 | Dr. Michael)
“Before light bulbs were invented, the only type of light you had at night was red light from a fire, so you're just trying to recreate that type of experience.” (26:17-26:25 | Dr. Michael)
“Since the heart is heavily dense in mitochondria, it stands to reason that if you could put more energy into mitochondria in the heart, things may work better.” (29:00-29:10 | Dr. Michael)

An Overview of Homeopathy, the Ultimate Quantum Modality with Heathar Shepard
“Sunlight combined with homeopathy transformed my health and my healing experience in huge ways,” shares Heathar Shepard, a New Mexico-based homeopathic health practitioner. After a car accident that left her with a traumatic brain injury, Heathar tried everything to get her health back on track. It was not until she discovered the quantum lifestyle and began incorporating more sunlight into her routine that she began to see dramatic improvements to her overall health. After only one week of watching the sunrise and improving her circadian rhythm, she was sleeping better and her migraines and dizziness were nearly gone. In this episode, Heathar breaks down how homeopathy works and the ways in which it can help to restore the body’s mitochondrial functioning, especially when combined with a quantum lifestyle.
People often have misconceptions about homeopathy, viewing it as just “sugar pills”. In actuality, homeopathic remedies are much more. They are a diluted energetic remnant of the original substance that can aid in curing a multitude of health concerns from acute pain and illness to severe chronic conditions like cancer and schizophrenia. After a traumatic event like an injury or illness, grief, shock, or witnessing something very frightening, the body’s electron spin rate changes. When homeopathic supplements are taken in combination with quantum lifestyle changes, dramatic improvements are possible due to restoring the electron spin rate to its original state.
Emotional states like grief can have a strong impact on a person’s overall health. This is why homeopaths tend to focus on healing emotional states first before addressing physical symptoms. As the emotional state is healed, the physical symptoms will begin to heal as well. If you are dealing with the aftereffects of an injury, grief, or any kind of shock to the body, and traditional modalities have not provided relief, consider visiting a homeopath like Heathar who can help get your mitochondrial functioning back on track.
Quotes
“Sunlight combined with homeopathy transformed my health and my healing experience in huge ways.” (9:27-9:33 | Heathar)
“Whether it's a shock or grief, or a really, truly frightful experience you witness, it can change the way the electrons spin in your body.” (13:14-13:27 | Heathar)
“Skin cancer rates have gone up 2 to 7% per year since the 70s when sunscreen was introduced.” (18:42-18:48 | Heathar)
“If we can get the organism to let it out in grief or in its all natural way, by using homeopathy, it can do huge things for people.” (46:04-46:14 | Heathar)

The Quantum Chiropractor: Dr. Lauren Dodds On How Cellular Hydration Benefits Our Bodies & Minds
“It's not just drinking water. It’s making sure that your mitochondria can generate that structured water, that exclusion zone water, that is really what is hydrating you,” explains Dr. Lauren Dodds, quantum chiropractor and founder of South Alabama Quantum Health where she combines her work in upper cervical chiropractic care, craniosacral therapy, and the Arvigo techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy with her deep understanding of quantum health. In this episode, Dr. Lauren discusses cellular hydration and why it is so important both to the structural integrity of the body as well as to one’s mental and emotional states.
Cellular hydration refers to your mitochondria being able to generate enough structured or exclusion zone water for all of the body’s processes. In this case, cellular dehydration occurs anytime there is a dysfunction within the fascia or in the quality or quantity of available structured water. When your body doesn’t have enough structured water, the flow of electrons in your body will be disrupted. This can lead to an array of symptoms from brain fog and fatigue to gastrointestinal problems and muscle pain. In order to keep your mitochondria hydrated, it is critical to fix any dysfunction in your circadian rhythm by getting enough sunlight, observing the sunrise and sunset, and avoiding artificial light at night. You can also help your body out by improving the quality of your drinking water through filtering out toxins like fluoride and adding minerals like electrolytes.
Drinking water is not enough to ensure healthy levels of cellular hydration. Your mitochondria need the infrared light from the sun and free electrons from the Earth in order to generate enough structured water to maintain good flow throughout the body. If you have been suffering from the effects of cellular dehydration, consider working to improve your circadian rhythm and being mindful about the quality of your drinking water.
Quotes
“Fascia and water go together. If one is dysfunctional, then the structure is not going to work.” (10:42-10:48 | Dr. Lauren)
“The water that we drink is called bulk water…doesn't have the same structure that the water that our mitochondria makes.” (11:36-11:58 | Dr. Lauren)
“It's not just drinking water. It’s making sure that your mitochondria can generate that structured water, that exclusion zone water, that is really what is hydrating you.” (12:46-12:57 | Dr. Lauren)
“Making sure that you're getting good sunlight during the day, and then making sure that you're blocking the artificial light at night, I think are two of the biggest things that you can do for your mitochondrial health.” (17:28-17:40 | Dr. Lauren)
“A lot of things come back to dehydration and not enough of that structured water. And then when you start to repair that mitochondrial function, to create that good water, it seems like a lot of things start to take care of itself.” (47:09-47:25 | Dr. Lauren)

Dr. Kelli Ritter, PhD, On The Quantum Biology of Emotional Health, The Gut Brain Axis & Anxiety
Often people are surprised that their immune system is so connected to their emotions,” shares Dr. Kelli Ritter, quantum-certified anxiety coach and host of The Nourished Soul podcast. As a former professor and mental health focused nutritionist, Dr. Kelli has a lot of experience with the gut brain axis, or the connection between mental health and digestive health. She believes that circadian rhythm is the missing link to regulating not only physical health, but emotional health as well. In this episode, Dr. Kelli talks about the impact emotions can have on the immune system's ability to function optimally and the ways that sunlight can be used to heal physical and emotional health concerns alike.
The vagus nerve runs all the way through the entire body and plays a major role in the communication process. This communication process can be interrupted by circadian dysregulation, as without enough sunlight the mitochondria are unable to produce adequate amounts of structured water and ATP. This can lead to health issues like fatigue, insomnia, digestive difficulties, and anxiety. When it comes to healing mental health conditions like anxiety, the best place to start is with circadian signaling. This means doing things like eating only during the day, sticking to seasonally appropriate foods, watching the sunrise each morning, and steering clear of harmful, artificial light sources, especially before bed.
When you regulate your circadian rhythm, not only will your physical health improve, but your mental health will as well. If you struggle with anxiety or any associated digestive health difficulties, it might be time to take a look at your relationship with the sun and begin to regulate your circadian rhythm.
Quotes
“Food can be a big piece, but not nearly as important as quantum health strategies.” (39:11-39:17 | Dr. Kelli)
“Resilience is staying curious about what's actually happening.” (57:45-57:48 | Dr. Kelli)
“Often people are surprised that their immune system is so connected to their emotions.” (1:00:20-1:00:27 | Dr. Kelli)
“When you're trying to shove things down, you'll get more immune system responses to things.” (1:00:27-1:00:32 | Dr. Kelli)
“Love is the medicine and these safety signals are the way to have the frequency of love.” (1:07:32-1:07:38 | Dr. Kelli)

Nature Informed Homes That Heal Our Bodies and Souls With Interior Designer Mahwish Syed
“Of course beauty matters and aesthetics matter, but your environment affects your health,” explains Mahwish Sayed, interior designer, student of Applied Quantum Biology and cancer survivor. In this episode Mahwish discusses how to create beautiful spaces that fulfill our need to connect to nature and natural light cycles. Mahwish talks about windows and lightbulbs - as well as the mythology and symbolism of ancient cultures and how they support our healing on a subconscious level. This is a beautiful and fun conversation that will inspire a deeper connection to our day to day surroundings. And as always, we do not advertise on this podcast so do hit the 5 star review button and help us to continue our organic growth and to stay in touch click the link in the show notes for our monthly newsletter.
Mahwish shares that her cancer journey opened up doors for her to view her environment through an epigenetic lens. As an interior designer, she was already familiar with the ways the environment can impact one’s emotions and health. She began to see that the modern environment most people live within is built in a way that prioritizes things like energy-saving and aesthetics over harmony with the body. Even the way windows are made is done in a way that reduces the spectrum of light that can get through to your skin and eyes. The LED lights that are so commonly used to save energy are known to be quite harmful to the body, causing complications like epileptic seizures.
To create a truly beautiful environment, it is important to look not only at beauty and aesthetics but also at the way the environment impacts your health. When your environment is well balanced and in alignment with your body, then that makes for a truly beautiful experience.
Quotes
“Of course beauty matters and aesthetics matter, but your environment affects your health.” (2:25-2:31 | Mahwish)
“Starfire glass is the right glass to use (for windows) if you can get your hands on it.” (9:07-9:12 | Mahwish)
“Our environment is an ecosystem, but we forget that the ecosystem is between our bodies and our environment.” (20:29-20:37 | Mahwish)
“I'm not against saving energy. What I am against is what is packaged as saving energy actually kills bodies.” (20:54-21:06 | Mahwish)
“The word disease, right? ‘Dis-ease’ is dissonance. It's actually if our cells are vibrating, we are not in harmony with ourselves or the environment or vice versa. So if we are able to combat ‘dis-ease’, then we have to seek ways in which we're becoming more harmonious.” (29:02-29:28 | Mahwish)

Quantum Dentistry: What You Need To Know About The Dental Industry & Why Health Starts In The Mouth
“The oral cavity is so important. It's the external representation of the gut,” explains Kelly Bento, dental hygienist and certified student of quantum biology. As a dental hygienist for several decades, Kelly has seen it all working in both traditional dental practices and biological dental practices that offer a more holistic approach to dentistry. In this episode, Kelly discusses the ways that the mouth acts as a predictor of overall future health. She talks about the differences between traditional and holistic dentistry, the importance of a healthy light environment for dental patients, and the dangers of common dental practices like the use of metal implants and fluoride.
While there are benefits to seeing a holistic dentist rather than going to a traditional practice such as getting away from the use of harmful fluoride, Kelly explains that there are still areas of improvement that need to be made at holistic practices, particularly when it comes to the light environment. Overhead LED lights combined with powerful headlamps on dental loupes cause issues for both patients and dental practitioners alike. The use of metal implants is a real issue as implants not only inevitably fail, but also are known to cause health issues like autoimmune conditions and complications associated with intercepting radio and wi-fi frequency waves.
Natural light from the sun is the number one most important factor for mitochondrial health. If you are going to a conventional dentist and noticing negative health impacts, speak up and explain that the light bothers you.
Quotes
“The oral cavity is so important. It's the external representation of the gut.” (8:36-8:41 | Kelly)
“There is a massive rise in dental professionals struggling with macular degeneration.” (13:55-14:01 | Kelly)
“Even if you're in a conventional practice, say something. Ask them to turn off the overhead lights, ask them to use the shield, and just simply say that the light intensity causes you a headache.” (18:00-18:14 | Kelly)
“Just as they found out that every single root canal ultimately fails, every implant ultimately fails.” (23:34-23:42 | Kelly)
“The number one reason for implant failure is bacterial infection. Well, the mouth is the most bacteria laden part of the entire body.” (37:00-37:13 | Kelly)
“Don't ever bring your child into a conventional dental practice. Just walking in there. They are drilling amalgam that is just being vaporized into the practice.” (44:51-45:07 | Kelly)
“Teeth will either give up minerals to their environment or receive minerals if they need them. So the interesting thing about teeth is that they're constantly sort of undergoing this flux and so what you want to do is just continue to to provide them with proper minerals and teeth will absolutely re-mineralize.” (59:33-1:00:00 | Kelly)

How Victor Misfud Restored His Vision Using Quantum Health
“Going blind taught me what it really means to see, and just because you can't see it, doesn't mean it's not there,” shares Victor Misfud, the BlindBiohacker. Victor is a citizen scientist who has used quantum health to heal himself of multiple major vision problems that would have ultimately caused blindness. When Victor was 9 years old, he was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa. At 21, his vision deteriorated so much, he lost his driver’s license. He became severely depressed, thinking there was nothing to be done but prepare for going blind. Then he discovered several books on light therapy and neuroplasticity. He started researching and realized that what he had been told by doctors was not entirely true.
Victor explains that modern optometry does not want people to know that there are ways to improve their vision to be less reliant on glasses. However, using principles of quantum biology, he was able to improve his own vision by over 33%. In his research, Victor discovered that much of a person’s health comes down to their environment and also to unconscious trauma. By having a toxic light environment, people are cutting themselves off from the full rainbow of light while also suffering the negative health effects of an overload of blue light.
Even if traditional doctors may tell you otherwise, there is nearly always something you can do to better your health. Go back to the basics and fix your light balance by eating your colors, watching the sunrise, and mirroring your indoor environment to an outdoor one as much as possible. You will likely be pleasantly surprised by how much better your body feels when it is not deprived of the rainbow of light it needs to thrive.
Quotes
“I was told that nothing could be done about it. I just have to brace myself for going blind.” (8:29-8:33 | Victor)
“Before my cataract surgery, I was able to reduce my vision prescription by over 33% by doing a lot of the practices that I learned via Jacob Lieberman.” (12:20-12:30 | Victor)
“Modern optometry almost works like Big Pharma in a way where they want you to be hooked on their glasses.” (12:37-12:45 | Victor)
“Unconscious trauma actually plays a huge role in vision loss.” (13:53-13:56 | Victor)
“You can't get well in the same environment you got sick in. And so this is really about learning what environment means, and a lot of these things are the environment we can't see.” (15:40-15:50 | Victor)
“Going blind taught me what it really means to see, and just because you can't see it, doesn't mean it's not there.” (16:10-16:18 | Victor)
“I am here where I am now just because of not believing what these doctors said and kind of going beyond the system.” (20:57-21:06 | Victor)

Quantum Health Coach Nathan Walz How Bad Light Makes Us Sick & Tired & Why Good Light Gets Us Better
In this episode, we hear firsthand the negative impacts of artificial light and the ways good light can improve our health with quantum health coach Nathan Walz. After the first 10 years of his corporate career in DC, Nathan realized he had begun to burnout. He had less energy than before, increasing brain fog, difficulties sleeping, and indigestion. Eventually he found himself at a functional medicine practitioner who tested him for Lyme disease, and the test came back positive. He tried many supplements and antibiotics prescribed by the functional practitioner, but started to get even sicker. Then, he discovered Jack Cruz online, adding cold therapy and an epi paleo diet to his regimen, amazed when he began to feel largely better within only 3 weeks. Although he was improving, there was still one piece missing - good light.
“The challenge today is most of our jobs have moved indoors, and we're spending 90% of our waking hours indoors under artificial light. And in the past 20 years or so that light has radically changed,” explains Nathan Walz. The energy efficient light we are continually exposed to nowadays is actually more detrimental to health than the incandescent bulbs of the past. The sun exposes us to a range of light rays from every color of the rainbow, while our artificial bulbs cut the spectrum down to just blue light. This type of light disrupts the production of melatonin that we need to regulate our sleep patterns, raises blood sugar, and causes inflammation deep under our skin that reduces the ability of our mitochondria to produce energy.
People evolved over hundreds of thousands of years to be adapted to sunlight. Our bodies are not equipped to handle blue light in the same way. Exposure to the right kind of light is vital for regulating our circadian rhythm and enhancing our overall health.
Quotes
“The right kind of light enhances health.” (19:54-19:57 | Nathan)
“The challenge today is most of our jobs have moved indoors, and we're spending 90% of our waking hours indoors under artificial light. And in the past 20 years or so that light has radically changed.” (20:57-21:13 | Nathan)
“We're surrounding ourselves with this light that not only messes up our sleep, it raises our blood sugar and it does all these different things to our body. It actually causes inflammation not just in our eyes, but it also causes inflammation in our skin.” (23:21-23:36 | Nathan)
“Inflammation is the enemy of energy production.” (24:33-24:35 | Nathan)
“When you're exposing yourself to the wrong kind of light, guess what? You're actually decreasing your body's ability to make energy.” (24:44-24:52 | Nathan)
