As you know, we have always given fair, non partial events for over forty years. I pride myself on it. My events are great for new competitors, and those that have not participated in a while. During the life of legendary martial arts master Bruce Lee, he studied, trained in and taught a realistic system of fighting, he later called Jeet-Kune-Do. Unfortunately, their were many traditionalist from mainly Karate, that did not want to give him any real credit as a great martial artist. So much so, you get people decades later, such as Grand Master Victor Moore, who wanted to reduce Bruce Lee to a simple actor, who danced around ( and these were his own words). Master Moore also touted that he sparred with Bruce Lee in the sixties, after their speed contest, which Moore claims to have blocked Bruce Lee's punches. Moore also said that karate champions during that time, to include today would have beat Bruce Lee. There is no evidence of any karate guy, kung- fu or otherwise, that beat Bruce Lee in any real sparring match to include training. Instead, there were guys that trained with Bruce Lee, to include kickboxing champion Joe Lewis, who became a student of Lee's, and mentioned that Bruce Lee helped his fighting career immensely. It's funny, how fifty years later, some of these guys say they could have beaten Bruce Lee, but never stepped to him during the sixties and early seventies before his untimely death. Finally, Master Moore's claims on the speed contest, to include who he also stated that he beat during that time, has been refuted by two popular martial arts figures on Youtube. It is truly funny to me, how some so-called martial artist continue to claim that the legendary Bruce Lee was not a fighter, and simply an actor. Well the world has crowned him that, way back in the seventies, and he still remains the undisputed king of martial arts across the world. Yes, he is the most talked about and he has inspired millions to both join the martial arts and to pursue their already existing martial arts skill and knowledge. His very exploits on film displays his own martial arts system. That is, if you are not someone that is biased towards your own. This is to make mention of one of the most beautiful women, person's, martial arts student, and friend that I have had the pleasure of knowing, who passed away here recently. Purple was her most favorite color. Master Maxine Watson, will most definitely be missed.

If you look at the world of martial arts, you will now see, masters upon masters, upon masters and even Grand Master's of many arts and styles, all over the place. But, there is one question, Why so many Grand master's and masters under the same school roof? Here is my breakdown for those with common sense, who are not even sure. This may not be a subject well received by some of those, that study and train in the martial arts, but it reflects on the real truth of things. We must set certain standards, when we have students under us, and not stray from those standards. Some people think that personal self defense, against a possible attacker, is simple as telling them to Stop!, Or I Have a Gun!, but, it is much more involved than that, and it is not for the faint of heart. Here recently, I promoted several students in the Art of Jinen-Do. Most of them have been with me for several years, and I am proud to be their instructor. I don't take rank lightly. I believe in seeing what My students real capability is, and placing the burden of rank on them, to force them to work harder, and measure up to that new position. I am not any other instructor, so I don't follow any other style or systems dogma, to fit in with them. I see potential, spirit, dedication, and the hard work that each student displays, while knowing that we are all different and unique, so, I judge my students on their own individual merits. It has been talked about before, how great are actors, Jackie Chan and Jet Li, as martial artist and I want to give my honest take on the subject. Especially, when you compare them to the late great Bruce Lee. Everyone has their favorite, but we have to keep it real, when you put Bruce Lee's name in the mix.

Today, I address the issue of martial artist, to include instructors, that start out good, and over the years, end up fat, and out of shape due to lack of dedication to their craft as they age.

It is funny(odd) how people can be so immature about some of the most simple subjects, and this in my view is one of them. I have enough sense to know, that it is impossible to know everything in life, and to say with any real certainty who is the greatest anything, would be futile, at best. However, we all have opinions, insights, and personal views about virtually every subject, so this one on the late Bruce Lee has come to be one of those of some varied controversy. Let's let the world decide: Was Bruce Lee noted as the greatest martial artist of our time? The answer would be an astounding YES! Despite the trolls, and haters, Bruce Lee has made the martial arts more popular across the world, than any other personality. What do you say?
