Strongest Animals in the World
In the constant war between predator and prey, size and strength can be a decisive factor to help an animal survive the cruel whims of nature. It’s a jungle out there - so many kinds of strengths it’s nearly impossible to pick a single animal as the strongest of all. So let’s look at some of the strongest animals in the world.
1. Crocodile
This reptile has one of the strongest biting forces on the planet. With its powerful jaws, the creature can instantly terminate almost any prey by exerting up to 5,000 pounds of pressure per square inch. For comparison’s sake, a human can only bite with around 100 pounds per square inch. The secret to the crocodile’s remarkable strength is its enormous jaw muscles.
2. The Grizzly Bear
Grizzlies are some of the most massive and powerful animals in the world. They are found in various habitats across Canada and Northwestern United States. Grizzly bears can stand at 2.5 meters and weigh up to 350 kg. They have a big head, 6-inch claws, and a muscular hump. They also have strong teeth with a bite force of 1200 pounds per square inch. Such a sharp bite could even crush a bowling ball. In fact, this immensely powerful animal can beat any animal in a fight.
3. Ox
They are a larger and stronger breed of cattle also known as Bullock in some countries. An ox is actually nothing more than a specially trained dairy or beef steer. Oxen have been working as draft animals since 4000 B.C. They have a body length between 2 to 2.3 meters and weigh up to 640 kg. Oxen are strong enough to carry a weight up to 800 kg. They are also considered a symbol of strength, stability, and determination.
Like horses, oxen are draft animals used for, among others, plowing and pulling carts or wagons. They are a great power source with relatively low costs related to the equipment they use and their upkeep.
4. Hippopotamuses
At first glance, the hippopotamus may seem like a placid, lumbering, veggie-munching, lazy bone. But when provoked, this is one of the most dangerous creatures in the animal kingdom. To understand just how dangerous they are, it is necessary to fully appreciate the hippo’s sheer size. The average hippo can weigh anywhere between 3,000 and 4,000 pounds. But scientists have recorded some individuals with twice that weight. With the ability to open its mouth at a 180-degree angle, the hippopotamus has a bite that exerts 1,800 pounds of force per square inch.
5. The Tiger
Tigers are the strongest and largest members of the cat family. They inhabit swamps, rainforests and grasslands across Southeast Asia. There are ten recognized sub species of tigers in the world. The Siberian tiger is the largest of the family. An adult Siberian tiger would measure 75-91 inches in length and up to 306 kg in weight. Tigers have mighty jaws and 30 teeth in total. The upper canines of the tigers reach up to 10 centimeters in length and are designed for tearing flesh. Tigers are fearsome hunters and can carry up to two times their body weight.
6. Wild Gorilla
Gorillas are the largest primates in the world. These cousins of ours can stand 1.75 meters tall and weigh up to 200 kg. Compared to human beings, the arms of gorillas are very large and strong. They can carry up to 2 tons of weight, which is ten times their body weight. The arm span of adult male gorilla’s measures between 2.2 and 2.6 meters. Gorillas employ knuckle walking, to balance their weight. Climbing and knuckle walking makes their arms stronger. In fact, an adult male gorilla is 15 to 20 times stronger than a human.
7. African Bush Elephant
These strong animals are the largest living land animals in the world and the largest of all mammals on earth. African bush elephants and African forest elephants are two different species. The bush species are bigger and stronger than Asian elephants. They can be 8 to 13 feet in height and weigh up to 7 tons. The bush elephants can lift up to 9 tons. Their trunk is also very strong. It contains more than 40,000 muscles and tendons and can carry 200 kg of weight.
8. Rhinoceros Beetle
Considering load to body-weight ratio, rhinoceros beetles are the second strongest animals on Earth after the dung beetle. They can carry objects that are 850 times heavier than their body weight. This is like an average human carrying a weight of 65 tons.
Rodger Kram, a physiologist at the University of California at Berkley, tested a rhino beetle’s strength in his lab. He found that they could lift 100 times their own weight, but could hardly move. With 40 times their weight, they could walk for ten minutes before reaching exhaustion.

Most Dangerous Animal Moms in the World
Animal moms are amazing and ultimate protectors of their children, no offense to our human moms, you’re awesome too. Out in the wilderness moms take extraordinary steps to protect, nurture and raise their young. From wild to not-so-wild, here are the most amazing animal moms in the world.
1. Wildebeest mom
A leopard is generally much stronger than a wildebeest, especially a calf. But this big cat ignored one important fact, the calf wasn’t alone. It was with its momma. When a mother is protecting the baby, the last thing you wanna do is mess with her or her child. This animal video shows how the big cat was attacking a six-month-old calf. What happened next was not only unexpected but also a sight to see. What the Leopard didn’t know was that the mother was watching her baby and she was more than ready to attack him. She counteracted with a precision horned-head-flip to the leopard's upper body. After being wounded pretty badly, the leopard ran away to save its life. The risk that the wildebeest took to protect its calf is astounding. Mothers are ready to sacrifice everything for their children after all.
2. Honey Badger mom
What do you think the odds are of a honey badger winning the fight against a giant leopard? Not much is it? Well, in the case of this animal mom honey badger protecting her baby, the odds of the normal animal kingdom don’t apply. This incredible incident happened at the Kruger National Park, South Africa when a spotted leopard tried to eat the baby of the honey badger. The mother honey badger came charging at the leopard not caring about the possibility of her becoming an afternoon snack as well. She just wanted to save her cute baby at any cost. The hissing and snarling big cat got started by this unexpected attack and lept high up into the air dropping the baby honey badger on the floor. But the mother of the baby animal wasn’t done teaching the leopard a lesson yet. She chased the leopard away into nearby trees by hissing angrily at it. Once she was satisfied that the attacker was at a safe distance from her injured babies, the honey badger ran back to them and stood guard to protect them until help arrived. The best animal moms protect their young against a wild animal.
3. Bear mom
Royal Bengal tigers may be royals in their own world but when they threaten an animal mother with her cub in her territory, there’s gonna be some trouble. That’s exactly what caused this 15 minutes battle in the Tadoba National Park in Maharashtra, India. In this tense face-off caught on camera, we can see a sloth bear desperately trying to protect her cub as the tiger attacked them. The intense animal attack continued for almost five hours according to Akshay Kumar as the bear kept charging at the tiger. Meanwhile, the bear cub ran away to save its life. Both the animals suffered multiple injuries during the fight.
4. Opossum mom
Kangaroos aren’t the only animals that carry their kids in their pouch until they’re ready for the world, opossum mothers do it too. However, unlike the kangaroos, the pouch is actually vertical not horizontal like we've seen in the Disney movies. When this opossum mother arrived at WildCare’s Wildlife Hospital, the baby opossums were just about the size of jelly beans. When the babies leave their amazing mothers' tummies, they don’t go about the world like other animals. They get into their mother's belly pouch where they get their milk. If anyone deserves a mother’s day wish, it’s the mommy opossum.
5. The giant pacific octopus mom
If anyone can beat the Harp Seals in dedication towards their children, it’s the giant pacific octopus. They’re the most dedicated mothers who save their babies at any cost, even if it means putting their own life to an end. These octopuses live in the darkest depths of the ocean and start their lives as tiny little blobs. During the next four years of their lives, they grow massive, reaching up to 272 kgs. The average weight of the giant pacific octopus is around 50 kgs which still makes them one of the largest species of octopuses. Once they reach adulthood, the males mate with the females and quickly after go through a behavioral change called senescence. It essentially means that they’ll starve until they pass away.
Which one did you find most protective? Have you ever seen any of them in real life? Let us know in the comment below.
