Nigerian Head Of State Major-General Yakubu Gowon Presents The Nigerian Navy With Its First Colours
The Nigerian Navy owes its origin to the Nigerian Marine. Formed in 1914 after the amalgamation of the then Northern and Southern Nigeria, the Nigerian Marine, as it became known after 1914, was a quasi-military organization. This force expanded to become the Southern Nigerian Marine in 1893. A Northern Nigeria equivalent was formed in 1900. The two Marines were merged in 1914. Responsibilities included administration of the ports and harbours, dredging of channels, buoyage and lighting. It also operated ferry services, touring launches, and other small craft that plied the various creeks and other inland waterways.

Shocking Testimony!! The Liberia TRC Reunited My Family!!! (Gladys Arthur)
For much of its 164-year history, Liberia has enjoyed a special status among Africa’s nations. Founded in 1847 by freed slaves from the United States and the Caribbean, it was Africa’s first independent black republic, and people across Africa considered it both an inspiration and a beacon of hope. Nevertheless, the relationship between the African-American arrivals, known as Americo-Liberians or “Congo” people, and the many ethnic groups already present in Liberia, bore many similarities to European colonialism in the rest of Africa.

Former Charles Taylor SBU Ask For Forgiveness From The Liberia People (Eric Wongbeh TRC Testimony)
The First Liberian Civil War was an internal conflict in Liberia from 1989 until 1997. The conflict killed around 200,000 people and eventually led to the involvement of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and of the United Nations. The peace did not last long, and in 1999 the Second Liberian Civil War broke out.
Samuel Doe had led a rebellion that overthrew the elected government in 1980, and in 1985 held elections that were widely considered fraudulent. There had been one unsuccessful coup by a former military leader. In December 1989, former government minister Charles Taylor moved into the country from neighboring Ivory Coast to start an uprising meant to topple the Doe government.
Taylor's forces, the National Patriotic Front of Liberia (NPFL) battled with Prince Johnson's rebel group, the Independent National Patriotic Front of Liberia (INPFL) – a faction of NPFL – for control in Monrovia. In 1990, Johnson seized the capital of Monrovia and executed Doe brutally.
Peace negotiations and foreign involvement led to a ceasefire in 1995 that was broken the next year before a final peace agreement and new national elections were held in 1997. Taylor was elected President of Liberia in July 1997.

Guinea President Sekou Toure Discovers An Alleged French-Backed Plot To Overthrow His Government
President Ahmad Sekou Toure of Guinea announcing the discovery of an alleged French-backed plot to overthrow his government. He was speaking at the official opening of the Consultative Conference of the World Federation of Trade Unions and the Pan-African Trade Union in Conakry.
Toure told the delegates that dozens of civilian and military "traitors" had been rounded up and put in jail. He called on what he termed the "progressive parties" of socialist countries and revolutionary movements in the world to cooperate closely in the struggle against "imperialism".
The delegates came from Cameroon, Dahomey (later Benin Republic), France, Niger, East Germany, Finland, Malagasy, Sudan, Tanzania and Angola.
The alleged plot which came to be known as Komplot KAMAN-FODEBA was supposedly an attempt to overthrow his government using members of Guinea's armed forces. Sekou Toure had become suspicious of his military after the military overthrows of his regional allies Kwame Nkrumah in Ghana and Modibo Keita in Mali.
The alleged coup plotters were Fodeba Keita, the Secretary of State for Defence and Colonel Kaman Diaby, the Deputy Chief of Army Staff, and later the Secretary of Service Civique .

Traditional Krahn Music - Say Orjay Ngborjah 🇱🇷 🇱🇷 (Winston P. Karr) #africa #music #liberia
The Krahn are an ethnic group of Liberia and Ivory Coast. This group belongs to the Kru language family and its people are sometimes referred to as the Wee, Guéré, Sapo, or Wobe. It is likely that Western contact with the Kru language is the primary reason for the development of these different names.
The Krahn arrived in an area of Liberia previously known as the "Grain Coast" as part of early 16th-century migrations from the northeast and what is now Ivory Coast. This migration occurred due to pressure on local populations resulting from the emigration of ethnic groups from western Sudan after the decline of medieval empires, as well as an increase in regional wars.

Uprising In Katanga Against Mobutu White Mercenaries Take The Town Of Bukawu In The Congo - 1967
On 4 November 1967, the ANC launched an all-out assault on the mercenaries' positions in Bukavu. After a day of fighting, Schramme, his mercenaries and the Katangans retreated towards the bridge crossing into Rwanda. The next morning the rearguard crossed the bridge. Schramme and his followers were disarmed and interned by the Rwandan authorities.
In November 1967 President Joseph-Désiré Mobutu requested that the Rwandan government allow for the extradition of 119 mercenaries. The Rwandan government refused, citing resolutions passed by the Organization of African Unity. In response, Mobutu severed relations between the Congo and Rwanda on 11 January 1968. After several months of talks, the mercenaries departed from Rwanda on 24 April, and relations between Rwanda and the Congo resumed in early 1969.

Dr. Kofi Busia Interviewed In London About The State Of Ghana After The Overthrow Of Kwame Nkrumah🇬🇭
The National Liberation Council (NLC) having come into power following what is widely acknowledged as a CIA inspired and supported coup, was composed of four army officers and four police officers. It appointed a cabinet of civil servants and promised to restore democratic government as quickly as possible. The NLC decreed a ban on the formation of political parties which remained in force until late 1968, but activity by individual figures began much earlier with the appointment of a succession of committees composed of civil servants and politicians as the first step in the return to civilian and representative rule.
The leaders of the coup that overthrew Nkrumah immediately opened the country's borders and its prison gates to allow the return from exile or release from preventive detention of all opponents of Nkrumah. The National Liberation Council (NLC), composed of four army officers and four police officers, assumed executive power. It appointed a cabinet of civil servants and promised to restore democratic government as quickly as possible. The ban on the formation of political parties remained in force until late 1968, but activity by individual figures began much earlier with the appointment of a succession of committees composed of civil servants and politicians as the first step in the return to civilian and representative rule.
