Dan, Ethan, Hunter, and Taylor discuss the missing rite of passage in our culture and explore the current situation of manhood in our society. Points of discussion include:
• The silence of men in church and in society at-large, and our stifling anti-man environment.
• Homeschooling as a means of combating that environment for the next generation.
• The Rite of Passage in the West.
• Rethinking your own upbringing.
• The mental and spiritual depravity of our educational system.
• The hypocrisy of the elite class – their children are not raised in the system they created.
• Our passive and ambiguous rites of passage: ages 13, 16, 18, 21, and 25, etc.
• Our unreasonable rites of passage: fighting in war, making over $100k per year.
• Examples of other cultures’ rites of passage.
• An unfortunate alternative to wimpy men: abusive men.
• Examples of manhood: Christ the ultimate, and godly men subsequently.
• Taylor’s unforgettable plans for his boys.
• University: one of America’s failed rites of passage.
• The weight of the rite of passage is first on the fathers then the sons.
• The need for grace towards young men from their elders.
• Noble rites and systems that are loosing their meaningfulness.
• No skin in the game.
• When thrown to the wolves, you may become a wolf.
• Not yours to give.
• Final challenges.
Corrections and Clarifications:
• The account regarding the local school student using a litter box appears to be a hoax. A sadly believable one nowadays.
• The land diving in Vanuatu does function as a rite of passage for men, but that is not its sole or primary purpose, as it also serves other social functions. Additionally, the tower is constructed by many men, not solely by the youth preparing for the rite of passage. There are not towers of various heights for younger jumpers, but there are platforms on the tower at various heights for the same.
• The Maasai people live primarily in Kenya and Tanzania, not Sudan.
• The Jewish Bar Mitzvah is traditionally at 13 years old, and among some Jews, 12 years old, but not 14.
• The Nietzsche quote could not be verified.

David, Ethan, Jack, and Laynce explore the proper channels for dealing with a corrupted political system. They also go on a myriad of tangents along the way. Points of discussion include:
• The roadmap of redressing grievances – what do we do when government goes bad?
• Thought experiment: the FBI and the first amendment.
• The balance of independence and strength in unity.
• Reasons for not rushing actions that could lead to violence.
• When is enough enough in a tangible way?
• LGBTQIA2+ escalation with the modern targeting of children.
• Step 1: email the president to address the FBI activity (Jack did). If that fails…
• Step 2: implore Congress to impeach the president for his inaction with the FBI. If that fails…
• Interlude: our institutions proving themselves untrustworthy, and our unlikely windfall with Elon.
• Step 3: implore attorneys general to sue the Federal Government in the Supreme Court. If that fails…
• Step 4: vote in good representatives that will impeach. If that fails…
• Interlude: what if our elections are not trustworthy? See the Kari Lake law suits in Arizona.
• Step 5: urge state legislatures to call a Convention of States. If that fails…
• Step 6: urge your state to secede. If that fails…
• Step 7: move to a place that will secede. If there are none…
• Interlude: are there any better countries to move to? …Apparently not.
• The carrying of guns in various places.
• Step 8: if all else fails: off to the hills or stay and suffer.
• Step 9: build the resistance: establish trusting relationships and influence your area.
• The current state of our family culture. Parenting, homeschooling, LGBTQ youth, etc.
• The human need for being included in a group.

Sold Cloak | Episode 4 - Vigilante Quandary

Episode URL: https://www.soldcloak.net/episode-4
Subscribe URL: https://www.soldcloak.net/subscribe
After a start as smooth as butter, the expert podcasters (Dan, Ethan, Hammond, and Jack) continued on to tackle vigilante justice. Points discussed include:
• What is a vigilante? Is vigilantism ever appropriate?
• Vigilante justice vs full revolution.
• The odd coincidence of lopsided justice in a politicized atmosphere.
• Biblical example of vigilantism – Simeon and Levi kill the men of Shechem.
• Honesty in justice as apposed to deceit.
• Biblical example v2 – Absalom kills Amnon. The cheese gets a little more binding.
• Why did David do nothing? What should Absalom have done?
• Is vigilante justice simply necessary sometimes, regardless of what is right and wrong?
• Kyle Rittenhouse tangent.
• George Floyd Autopsy.
• Should vigilantes free the Jan 6 detainees? Reasons why that might be a problem.
• King John’s anecdote, and forcing authority before rebellion.
• The difference in “punishment” vigilante justice and “deliverance” vigilante justice.
• Is there a quality to local vigilante justice not found in the judicial system?
• Caning in the town square.
• How dare you escape?
• A teaser on redress of grievances.
• Some wonderful parting advice from Dan.
Corrections:
• 1 Chronicles does not say that the birthright went to Judah. Judah prevailed over his brothers, but the two sons of Joseph received the birthright (1 Chronicles 5:1-2).
• Clarification: shoplifting less than $950 in California was made a misdemeanor via Proposition 47 in 2014. It was not made nonprosecutable; though, one could argue that it had the same effect since misdemeanors are often not prosecuted. Other states have enacted similar laws.

Dan, Ethan, and Jack actually do talk about recovering from collapse in this episode. Good on them. Points of discussion include:
• Assuming there has been a collapse, how would we handle it?
• Ethan’s hypocrisy in adjusting his microphone.
• Just as there are stages of preparation, there are stages of recovery.
• Texas’ more primed posture for secession (er, cot… [https://www.ercot.com/] oops).
• Rebuilding from the smallest unit (individual, family, or homestead), and expanding.
• Going Galt: the anecdote of the missing honest handymen.
• The aging workforce of regular, blue collar jobs, and the shift in public education away from blue collar work.
• Your group, its members, and their skill sets and locations.
• Dan’s droopy mic stand.
• A disadvantage of the “grab the go bag and flee to the lake house” plan compared to the homesteading plan.
• The Walking Hungry – the urban fallout after instant collapse.
• The unfruitful fruit of our modern produce.
• “Apocalyptic” does not mean everyone is dead.
• The long-term fate of the cities.
• Rebuilding Republic: discerning when to connect with other groups, and when not to.
Corrections:
• Ethan stated that Vermont was independent for a couple of weeks. However, the State of Vermont was technically independent for 14 years [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vermont_Republic] but sought to be annexed by the United States and never intended to remain independent.
• Ethan was mostly correct regarding the Texas secession bill, but some of the details were wrong. The results of the referendum would have been non-binding. Even if the people voted to secede, the Texas legislature could still decide not to.
• Ethan needs to catch up on the last 2,355 years of history; the city of Tyre used to be as he described: old city on the coast, new city on the island. However, Alexander the Great built a causeway that eventually became an isthmus making the island a peninsula. The city has spread beyond those ancient bounds. Minus a serious history point for Ethan.

Sold Cloak | Episode 2 - The Breaking
Website URL: https://www.soldcloak.net
Episode URL: https://www.soldcloak.net/episode-2
Subscribe URL: https://www.soldcloak.net/subscribe
Dan, Ethan, Jack, and Mark discuss social, economic, and political collapse in this highly-anticipated second episode (we were going to talk about recovering from collapse, but we really only talked about an overview of collapse, and some priorities on preparing for it. Recovery will need to be a future episode). Points of discussion include:
• An overview of collapse (market collapse, soft political collapse, and hard social collapse).
• The difference between collapse and authoritarian regime, and the possible future of our system.
• Agenda’s for islands of authoritarian order within a greater collapse: Agenda 2030 [https://unsdg.un.org/2030-agenda], 15 minute city [https://www.15minutecity.com/about], WEF [https://www.weforum.org/] (Davos Group), etc.
• The waning effectiveness of the U.S. Military.
• The breaking of the human psyche.
• Car-less inner city life, and the interstate exodus.
• The concept of the preparation checklist.
• Life in the interim: the balance of societal involvement, and working in society when the crisis is not fully emergent to possibly avoid the crisis entirely.
• Self sufficiency at a trustworthy scale.
• Emergent crisis versus looming crisis: don't drink the Kool-Aid.
• Improving personal skills. It can help in collapse, and today.
• The Next Prep: Multiplanetary (AKA, us getting into the weeds).
• Slowly becoming mentally tougher, and setting your convictions.
Corrections:
• Ethan implied that France, Brazil, and many South American countries were technically enemies of the USA for using a Chinese and Russian backed economic system. He was really meaning Russia and China themselves being the enemies.
• Dan said six Soviet submarines were deployed; that would be six Russian submarines.
• Ethan called the surrounding agricultural countryside of an ancient Greek city an “Agora”, but the correct word is “Agros” [https://www.blueletterbible.org/lexicon/g68/kjv/tr/0-1/]. An agora is the public square of an ancient Greek city. Minus another point for Ethan.
• A Bonneville [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pontiac_Bonneville] is a Pontiac, not a Chevy. Minus a point for Jack.

• The firing of military officers under Obama [https://www.investors.com/politics/editorials/197-military-officers-purged-by-obama/].
• Obviously, the stated purpose of the 15-minute city is not nefarious. We are just considering the possible dangerous ramifications of it, as well as the possible underpinned goals of it. People are in the process of moving away from large cities in America, so the idea of implementing a plan to have most folks as cyclists and pedestrians is scary since it removes their ability to take part in this mass exodus.

Sold Cloak | Episode 1 - Capital Pilot
Website URL: https://www.soldcloak.net
Episode URL: https://www.soldcloak.net/episode-1
Subscribe URL: https://www.soldcloak.net/subscribe
Dan, Ethan, and Jack discuss capital punishment in this pilot episode. Points of discussion include:
• Is capital punishment a good idea theoretically?
• Under who's jurisdiction does it fall?
• "The preponderance of evidence" and "beyond a reasonable doubt".
• Corrupt prosecutors and courts not providing speedy trials.
• A Deepfake tangent.
• The insufficiency and delay of justice, and its relation to vigilantism.
• A possible Christian argument against the death penalty.
• The benefits of a swift death penalty.
• Sentencing in government collapse, and penalties mentioned in the Bible.
• Does a government need to prove its merit before gaining access to the death penalty?
• Speedy trials, the need for good local policies and community involvement, and the dangers of civil disengagement.
• Civics vs. Social Studies, and the shift in culture.
• The purpose for this show.
The hosts' ire was at points levied against the following nouns (and associated adjectives): Corrupt governments, Liberalism, the Catholic Church, Nancy Pelosi, the average juror, Kamala Harris, sex changes, Emmanuel Macron, New Orleans, Satanism, Communism, Australia, Canada, Sarah Palin (erroneously), the Patriot Act, Freemasonry, selective law enforcement, and thugism.
Corrections:
• Jack gives a rough account of Gary Plauché shooting his son's molester, Jeff Doucet. Most of the details were accurate, but a few were incorrect or reasonable assumptions. The incident [https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/lifestyle/1984/03/29/what-price-vengeancea-louisiana-town-weighs-the-issue-in-slaying-of-accused-kidnaper/e60b2557-5196-4ce0-b766-a132020ac8c6/] took place in 1984 at an airport in Louisiana. When police escorted the suspect (Doucet) by some pay phones, Gary Plauché turned and fired one shot striking Doucet in the head. Warning: graphic video [http://www.jodyplauche.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/Baton-Rouge-Airport-Shooting-Graphic-quwZhWgAFVs-3.mp4]. Plauché was charged very lightly [https://www.nytimes.com/1985/08/28/us/around-the-nation-man-sentenced-in-killing-of-suspected-kidnapper.html], but somewhat more than Jack remembered. As for the police officers' assistance in the shooting, that is not in any official statement, but there are reasons to believe it was the case. The officer escorting Doucet was personally known by Gary Plauché, and had communicated with him about the crime, and Plauché had told him beforehand that he would kill Doucet. Plauché learned of the time and location of the escort from a connection he had with the local news outlet that was planning to film the arrival.
• Yes, the Federal Government does have the power of capital punishment [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital_punishment_by_the_United_States_federal_government]. Also examples [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_people_executed_by_the_United_States_federal_government] do include crimes committed on federal property.
• Ethan cannot pronounce Abdulrahman al-Awlaki. Sue him.
• Ethan was mistaken about Sarah Palin calling for the death of Edward Snowden. However, Donald Trump [https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/395683702757662721] and R. James Woolsey Jr. [https://www.foxnews.com/politics/ex-cia-director-snowden-should-be-hanged-if-convicted-for-treason] did. Sarah Palin did initially condemn Julian Assange, but has since apologized [https://youtu.be/0h-KLfmgRwk]. Perhaps Ethan merged the two in his mind.
