Damon's Redemption | Round 3: Argentine Grand Prix Race | F1 World Grand Prix (Dreamcast)
In 1996, during his championship winning season, Damon Hill was uncermonously sacked by Williams and almost left without a drive for 1997. With limited options, we had a reigning World Champion lapping the circuit with a backmarker as Damon accepted a one year deal with Arrows.
In 1998, Damon now finds himself in a competitive midfielder in the form of Jordan Grand Prix, and is looking to show that he still has what it takes to be a force in F1, just a couple of years removed from being top of the pile. In this series, we will be taking control of the '96 champion as he takes on the field looking for redemption.
The story of the Brazilian Grand Prix was a move from the ridiculous to the sublime as we were one McLaren looking backmarker away from a victory at Interlagos! However, we are in definite 107% danger as we head to neighbouring Argentina for the Argentine Grand Prix at the dreaded Buenos Aires circuit, where merely qualifying would be a good result!

Tyrrell's Last Dance | Round 2: Brazilian Grand Prix Race | Formula 1 '98 (PS1)
In our last season we took control of Rubens Barrichello behind the wheel of a Stewart Grand Prix car in the debut season for that team in the 1997 season. This time out, we go to the other end of the spectrum as we try to give Tyrrell one last hurrah in Formula 1 before becoming the BAR F1 Team in 1999.
Formula 1 '98 has been described as one of the worst F1 games ever, despite being the follow up to one of the best ever! And to coincide with that, we are taking control of the much maligned Ricardo Rosset to keep the Brazilian feel to the playthroughs.
The season started off in interesting fashion last time out in Australia with a difficult qualifying session before steaming through the field to finish just outside the points after a disastrous spin on the last lap. But the Drift Master now travels to his home Grand Prix at Interlagos for the Brazilian Grand Prix where we are hopeful for a better finish!

Last time out, the Drift Master took his place in the Brazilian F1 Driver Mount Rushmore (move over Nelson Piquet!) as he took Tyrrell's first victory since Michele Alboreto's win at the Detriot Grand Prix in 1983! And now head to the dreaded Buenos Aires circuit for the Argentine Grand Prix as we look to complete the South American sweep in the last season that this race would take place. Can we keep up our momentum and prove we are a true title challenger? Let's find out!

Well, the last Grand Prix didn't quite go to plan, and Damon Hill's road to redemption hit a very large 107% Rule speed bump! However, that is in the past, and Interlagos is in the present and we are looking for a late start for Damon's redemption arc. So, we head to Sao Paulo trying to kick start our season, with little confidence but a lot of hope!

As is customary at this time, we head to Melbourne for the Australian Grand Prix. This is only the second time that F1 have been here to this point, but it has become a well known and well trodden path for me so hopefully that will counteract my lack of experience in this game, and on the Sega Dreamcast.
Oh, and this game contains the 107% qualifying rule...

Stewart's Debut Season | Round 18: European Grand Prix Race | Formula 1 '97 (PS1)
1997 was a year of change in Formula 1. We had the reigning World Champion racing for a backmarker, a GOAT PS1 game being released which still holds up today, and TWO brand new teams joining the grid in Mastercard Lola and Stewart Grand Prix.
One of these teams was more successful than the other, with Lola burning out so quickly that the didn't make the game...or even start a race! However, for those who don't know, the team we now know as Red Bull Racing got their start on the grid as Stewart Grand Prix all the way back in 1997. Drivers like Jan Magunssen, Johnny Herbert and, yes, Jos Verstappen, walked so Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen could run!
However, despite the advantage they had over their fellow rookie team, Stewart struggled in 1997 with only 8 finishes between both drivers and 9 Double DNFs in 17 races. So, in this series, we try to give Stewart a debut season more befitting of a team that would go on to much bigger and better things in the near and distant future, by taking the one and only Rubens Barrichello through the 1997 season in Formula 1 '97 for the Playstation.
After a monster last lap of qualifying, we are starting on the front row for the second time in this debut season! The laps were getting better as we went so I am hopeful that this excellent starting position can turn into an equally good finish in the race and to our season.

The less said about the Portuguese Grand Prix weekend the better, as we head across the border to Jerez in Spain for the season ending European Grand Prix at the Circuito de Jerez. Villen....eh, Williams Number One has wrapped up the World Championship so this will be nothing more than a victory lap for him, leaving an opportunity open for everyone else on a track that suits us very well.

We had reliability issues for the first time in a while which ended our qualifying early, and before we could get a good lap in so we start near the back of the grid on a difficult track for us. Back-to-back points finishes now looks like it's off the table but we will take the race one lap at a time and see what we can get out of this one.

We put in some excellent laps and we're legitimately on provisional pole towards the end of our run, before we got the shock of a high midfield starting place! But we are still in a good place to get some points in this race, at one of my favourite tracks to race so here's hoping for some good luck in this one!

Following a frustrating Luxembourg Grand Prix weekend, where we were unlucky to be caught up in a big Lap 2 incident and then a slow pit stop allowing a lot of the cars we were racing to pass us in the pit lane, we head to a fan’s favourite track, Suzuka, for the Japanese Grand Prix.
I think this track could favour us and the car, so I’m quietly confident of something good this weekend!

Reliability issues reared their ugly head again in qualifying, but our excellent early laps have given us a fantastic grid position for the race. Normally, having our qualifying cut short when we were finding some good pace would be extremely annoying, but not this time! Starting high up, with the pace that we showed, gives me massive confidence that we could score some serious points!

Much to my shock, we are REALLY off the pace here, so this race will be all about making the most of any chances we get. I am anticipating the usual car park at the first corner so we just need to be patient, take any opportunities as they come and see what happens.

Stewart's Debut Season | Round 11: Hungarian Grand Prix Qualifying | Formula 1 '97 (PS1)
Hockenheim almost brought us our best result, and whilst I can't grumble at another Top 10 finish, I was left feeling a sense of what could have been! But that was then, and a trip to Hungary is now as we head to the Hungaroring in Budapest for the Hungarian Grand Prix.

After an eventful British Grand Prix we head back to mainland Europe and Hockenheim for the German Grand Prix at the fast and fearsome Hockenheimring! Our bold strategy last time out saw us finish last of all the remaining runners but our raw pace has been pretty good all year so we are looking forward to the test this time out, on a circuit which is almost all full throttle!

After what I thought was a great qualifying session, we disappointingly start near the back of the pack. With the track being so high speed, the margins between grid slots are a lot lower than at other tracks so hopefully we can carve our way through the field and get a good finish.
