Hogs are at the most optimal weight and the day has come to head to the processor. For y'all looking to get into raising pigs, you learn quickly that they don't anything they don't want to. So loading them onto a trailer at 250-300lbs can be a chore with a stubborn pig. We use two methods when loading our pigs that have worked very well. One is to incentivize movement with food rewards and the other is to use physical barriers. Since we cut the pigs food supply off 24 hours before loading, food is all they are thinking about. The physical barrier helps block their vision to focus on the direction you want them to go as well as limiting their ability to walk backwards. The heat of the summer is sticking around and the rain chances are hard to nail down. Now is the time for us to secure a better land for tomorrow. I are planting Bermuda and Bahia on roughly 4.5 acres. Some of that land will be used for our future livestock plans and the other will be planted in Pecans this coming February. Hey there, pig lovers! It's been a while since we've filmed a video, so we are trying to make up for it on this one. We added four new pigs to the property last week. We made some improvements to their pen. We talk about our vacation to Vogel State Park in Georgia. We got to hike around and found some real cool natural beauty in the trees, waterfalls, and of course the views. On our way back we picked up a new project that will help us automate feeding our pigs. Also we dove into a potential breeding plan to make more pigs and where our future shop will be built. This day ran pretty smooth given the fact that we had a very ruff start that morning around 3am when a storm came through our area and we lost power. Thankfully I know a few people who came by to help and eventually we found the problem.
