A kayak fly fishing review of Lake Idyl in Winter Haven, Florida. If you are after bluegill and new to fly fishing, not a bad lake to try.

Looks like a heavier leader and tippet are in order.

No location, tactics., and very limited explanation of the flies used in this video. Why? I'm still competing in a year-long virtual tournament and this location saw six upgrades. I'm not telling anyone where it is for now.

Finally caught over 22 bass for the KBF Catch 22 Challenge for 2024. Now comes upgrading and culling - the real challenge.

21 out of 22 bass secured after fishing lakes Summit and Eloise. One more bass to go before upgrading.

I need five more bass for 22 bass total in KBF's Catch 22 Challenge 2024. Lake Annie let me down entirely, Lake Daisy picked up three.

Continuing on with KBF's Catch 22 kayak bass fishing challenge, Lake Annie contributed five bass. I wanted to stay longer, but am a soft touch when it comes to cats.

Wapsi sells dragon tails - an eight inch chenille worm of sorts. I thought I would try them out on an eight weight fly rod. They absorb way too much water and are too heavy to cast. Put a 1/8 inch tungsten bead head on them and they may work with a casting reel!

Trying to catch 17 bass in one day for a total of 22 for the bass fishing challenge. Way short with a potential a Little Debbie award.

A continuation of fly fishing in KBFs Catch 22 Challenge. This time it is at Tenoroc Fish Management Area in the company of rude lake lizards (gators).

10.75 Inches added to my tournament score. The lone fish was caught at Lake Florence. This makes my total score 44 points.

I made this video in 2021 and did not publish it. It was long, had poor lighting, and the audio too variable. I doctored it up the best I could - watch it if you have the time.
