Erwilian – Whiteout (Verge Studios Sessions)
We’re excited to share Whiteout, the next installment of our live ‘Verge Studios Sessions’ series, recorded in real time right here in Seattle. Even more exciting is that we were lucky enough to have Verge Studios’ founder George Varghese join us on guitar!
Whiteout, from our forthcoming release ADVENT (coming in August), is an homage to the 1910 Wellington Disaster, which occurred near present-day Stevens Pass, Washington, when during a fierce snowstorm an avalanche swept two passenger trains down the mountain. 96 people perished, and to this day it remains the most devastating avalanche in United States history.
Nearly all of our live arrangements feature numerous instrument changes (even trades) but Whiteout stands as something of a rarity in which we all finish the song with the same instrument we started with. There is something remarkable about this dynamic, as every note and phrase here is played using only eight instruments, the varying textures and voices are crafted by using sometimes unconventional methods.
Recorded live at Verge Studios in Seattle, Washington, USA

Erwilian – Carol of the Bells (Verge Studios Sessions)
Together with our friends at Verge Studios, we are pleased to present the first of our series 'Live at Verge Studios!' We're so passionate about acoustic music and are thrilled that the folks at Verge Studios share our excitement to create music made by hand, breath, and touch... in real time.
This is our take on Leontovych’s beautiful ‘Carol of the Bells’ melody, featuring three hammered dulcimers built by our friends at Dusty Strings right here in Seattle, Washington. These handmade instruments date from 1979, 1981, and 2005.
