Why don't Eclipse happens twice a Month???
It's not often that we get a chance to see our planet's shadow, but a lunar eclipse gives us a fleeting glimpse. During these rare events, the full Moon rapidly darkens and then glows red as it enters the Earth's shadow. Though a lunar eclipse can be seen only at night, it's worth staying up to catch the show. The next lunar eclipse visible from the western hemisphere will take place in the early morning hours of April 15, 2014, from about 2:00 am - 5:30 am Eastern Daylight Time (EDT).

Why Moon Turn Red???
The phenomenon of a red Moon, often referred to as a "Blood Moon," occurs during a lunar eclipse when the Earth comes directly between the Sun and the Moon. The Earth's atmosphere scatters sunlight in all directions, and during an eclipse, the only light that reaches the Moon has to pass through the Earth's atmosphere. Here's why the Moon turns red:
Rayleigh Scattering: The Earth's atmosphere scatters shorter wavelengths of light (blue and green) more effectively than longer wavelengths (red and orange). This is known as Rayleigh scattering. When the sunlight passes through the Earth's atmosphere, most of the blue and green light is scattered away, leaving the longer wavelengths to dominate.
Red and Orange Hues: As a result of Rayleigh scattering, the remaining light that reaches the Moon consists of red and orange hues. This is why the Moon takes on a reddish or coppery appearance during a lunar eclipse.
Sunset and Sunrise Effect: The red Moon is reminiscent of the colors we see during sunrise or sunset on Earth. This is because the same scattering effect occurs when the Sun is near the horizon, leading to the warm, reddish tones we associate with these times of day.
Atmospheric Conditions: The exact shade of red can vary from one eclipse to another, depending on atmospheric conditions. Particles and pollutants in the Earth's atmosphere can affect the color and intensity of the red hue.
In summary, the Moon turns red during a lunar eclipse due to the scattering of shorter wavelengths of light by the Earth's atmosphere, which allows the longer wavelengths, such as red and orange, to reach and illuminate the Moon. This stunning celestial event is a result of the interplay of sunlight and Earth's atmospheric conditions during an eclipse, creating a captivating and memorable sight in the night sky.

Above the Earth, Below the Surface: (Water Quality)
Only 3% of water on Earth's surface is fresh - a vital resource for electricity, farming, and life. As global temperatures rise, disruptions like algal blooms, glacial melt, and drought threaten our aquatic ecosystems. Safeguarding these resources is crucial, and while scientists use a variety of ground-based techniques to gauge water quality, the Landsat program has provided water quality data from orbit for decades. Here are just a few ways Landsat satellites lend us a hand when it comes to monitoring water quality.

How to Safely View an Annular Eclipse
On Oct. 14, 2023, an annular solar eclipse will cross North, Central, and South America. Visible in parts of the United States, Mexico, and many countries in South and Central America, millions of people in the Western Hemisphere can experience this eclipse.
Eclipses are a wonderful experience, but it’s important to carefully follow safety procedures. During an annular eclipse, there is no period of totality when the Moon completely blocks the Sun. Therefore, it is never safe to look directly at the annular eclipse without proper eye protection specially designed for solar viewing. Do not use standard binoculars or telescopes to watch a solar eclipse without safe solar filters attached to the front of the device. Regular sunglasses are NOT safe for attempting to look directly at the Sun.

Black Hole destroying Star
For the first time, NASA’s planet-hunting Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) watched a black hole tear apart a star from start to finish, a cataclysmic phenomenon called a tidal disruption event.
The blast, named ASASSN-19bt, was found on Jan. 29 by the All-Sky Automated Survey for Supernovae (ASAS-SN), a worldwide network of 20 robotic telescopes. Shortly after the discovery, ASAS-SN requested follow-up observations by NASA’s Swift satellite, ESA’s (European Space Agency’s) XMM-Newton and ground-based 1-meter telescopes in the global Las Cumbres Observatory network.
The disruption occurred in TESS’s continuous viewing zone, which is always in sight of one of the satellite’s four cameras. This allowed astronomers to view the explosion from beginning to end.
This video shows images of a tidal disruption event called ASASSN-19bt taken by NASA’s Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) and Swift missions, along with an animation illustrating how it unfolded. Because ASASSN-19bt occurred in the TESS continuous viewing zone, the satellite observed the full duration of the event.

Neptune’s Disappearing Clouds Linked to the Solar Cycle
Recent observations from the Hubble Space Telescope show that Neptune's clouds are almost completely disappearing!
Astronomers report that their continual monitoring of Neptune’s weather uncovered a link between its shifting cloud abundance and the 11-year solar cycle, where the Sun’s activity waxes and wanes under the driving force of its entangled magnetic field.
At present, the cloud coverage seen on Neptune is extremely low, with the exception of some clouds hovering over the giant planet’s south pole. A team of astronomers discovered that the abundance of clouds normally seen at the icy giant’s mid-latitudes started to fade in 2019.

in 2024 Lucy Spacecraft Will Slingshot Around Earth
NASA’s Lucy mission is heading to the Jupiter Trojans – two swarms of primitive asteroids trapped in Jupiter’s orbit that may hold clues to the formation of the planets. Lucy launched on October 16, 2021. After a year in orbit around the Sun, it is returning home on its launch anniversary for the first of three Earth gravity assists. On October 16, 2022, Lucy will fly by the Earth like a partner in a swing dance, boosting its speed and elongating its orbit around the Sun. At 7:04 am, Eastern Time, Lucy will make its closest approach at just 219 miles above the planet: lower than the International Space Station. This exceptionally close shave will increase its velocity by four-and-a-half miles per second, setting Lucy on track to gain even more speed when it returns to Earth for its second gravity assist in December 2024. #10funfacts #ytshorts #solarsystem #viral #jupiter #saturn #titans

Gravitational Waves: Ripples In Space-Time
Gravitational waves are invisible ripples in the fabric of space-time. They are caused by some of the most violent and energetic events in the universe.
These include colliding black holes, collapsing stellar cores, merging neutron stars or white dwarf stars, the wobble of neutron stars that are not perfect spheres and possibly even the remnants of gravitational radiation created by the birth of the universe.
In this video, Dr. Padi Boyd explains gravitational waves and how important Hubble is to exploring the mysteries of the universe.
