I am planning to post this video on my Birthday. First homework to you is to guess my age down in the comments below. I'm gonna like the comments that are correct. And I decided to make this video special. I decided to make it less educational and more fun. In this video, we are going to talk about fun facts about the English language so that the next time when you're in the company of other English learners and English speakers, you could be like: "Did you know that there are "more English speakers in China than in the US." If you're interested in learning those facts, continue watching this video.
A new word is added to the dictionary every two hours. That means that around 4,000 new words are added to the English dictionary every single year!

The average English speaker knows between 20,000 and 30,000 words.
Do you know what's the most used word in English? It's the word "I".
I don't know how useful it is but if you write down all the numbers as words (e.g. one, two, three...), you would not use the letter "b" until the word "billion".
The word "good" has over 380 synonyms in English which makes it a word that has the most synonyms.
After the American Revolution, people in America decided to make a language different from the British. They thought that British English had too many things that are not necessary, for example, the British "colour" transformed into American "color".
The word "queue" sounds the same even if the last four letters are removed.
The word "synonym" is one of the few words in the English language that doesn't have a synonym.
When we want to say "the day after tomorrow", we say "the day after tomorrow". But there's actually a word, one word for it which is "overmorrow".

15 Accidental Inventions You Can't Imagine Your Life Without
Some of the greatest inventions we use every day were created by accident. From the microwave to ice-cream cones, the accidental inventions on this list completely changed our way of life.
Sometimes things don’t go according to plan. But every now and then, it’s for the better! American chemist Roy J. Plunkett was doing research for the company Dupont to make fridges safer and invented a strange substance that was non-reactive, non-stick, and resistant to extreme temperatures. We all know it as Teflon. John Pemberton was a pharmacist trying to find a way to get rid of headaches. He came up with a simple recipe consisting of two ingredients: coca leaves and cola nuts combined into a syrup. It was later mixed with soda by accident and became a huge hit. Dr. Spencer Silver, a chemist for 3M Company, was trying to create a super strong adhesive but what he got instead was a “low-tack” yet high-quality adhesive only strong enough to hold up a piece of paper but durable enough to be relocated multiple times without losing its stick. We all know and love it as Post-it notes today. The first antidepressant was discovered in 1957 and was supposed to be a cure for tuberculosis. Wilhelm Roentgen unintentionally put his hand in front of an electron-beam tube back in 1895 and noticed that the radiation passed through solid objects and body parts leaving a shadow. And now we have x-ray imaging!

SUMMARY:
- It seems that a cup percussion ensemble is a pretty fantastic thing. Such a performance in Xi'an, China, earned a Guinness World Record on May 21, 2017. 2,398 people gathered together and performed the song "Pursuing."
- Have you ever entertained yourself by blowing peas? Then you have a chance of breaking the record of Coby Cotton from the US. He managed to blow a pea 26.24 ft. This amazing event took place on February 13, 2018.
- Silvio Sabba from Italy set a curious (and probably pretty painful!) world record on December 27, 2012. On this day, he clipped 51 clothes pegs to his face. It took him just one minute.
- Silvana Shamuon from Waterloo, Canada, became a famous record holder after she kicked 59 items off people's heads in one minute in 2016. Since then, nobody has been able to break her record.
- If you know how to keep your balance and you're on friendly terms with tennis balls, you can try to break another record of Silvio Sabba, the guy I've already mentioned. The Italian managed to hold a whopping 26 tennis balls in just one hand!
- The employees of the company made the longest line of sticky notes. In one line, there were 114,741 pieces collected from all over India. The length of the line was 5.18 miles!
- If you have a lot of space at hand and some moonwalking skills, you have everything you need to beat the next world record. The longest distance a person moonwalked in an hour is 3.54 miles.
- Ross McCurdy from the US cracked 32 eggs with one hand. So far, this has been the largest number of eggs cracked within one minute.
- Do you want your windows to be always clean? Then start training to break the world record for the quickest window cleaning! The current record is pretty impressive: 3 office windows in just 9.14 seconds! Nobody has been able to achieve better results since 2009.
- The fastest time recorded for a person drinking 16.9 oz of water was 1.75 seconds. It happened in London during the XFM Breakfast Show in 2014.
- Just how much time do you spend in the shower? The less, the better — at least if you want to break the world record for the shortest shower ever taken. The current record is 33.18 seconds.
