#goldenknights #usarmy #fiesta This is a cell phone video taken as part of the Fiesta celebrations at the San Antonio Country Club. The US army's Golden Knights paratrooper team landed on their golf course as part of a choreographed appearance. Unfortunately, the SD card in my Minolta camera decided to go belly up at the worst moment, so I used my cell phone to record this for you.

On Day 2 of the 3rd Annual South Florida Drone Meet-Up at Jensen Beach, one of the long anticipated events was chasing @maxair420 as he flew a fixed wing RC plane around the area. At one point, there were at least 6 drones chasing him, but nobody collided or crashed into the impenetrable scrub below in the dunes. This (not so) short video was taken by our DJI Avata FPV drone, being flown in Sport Mode (not acro / manual mode). The camera's stabilization settings were set for Horizon Leveling, so that's why you won't see the usual FPV tilting of the horizon as the drone cornered or banked as it turned. Next year's 4th Annual South Florida Drone Meet-up is scheduled for April 6th-7th, with the usual pre event gathering held at STIX Billiards in Stuart, Florida, on the evening of Friday the 5th, a charter fishing trip on Monday, the 8th, and perhaps a semi-organized trip to the Florida Keys on Tuesday, the 9th and/or 10th. What does a drone pilot do when they have spare time on their hands? They power up their drone, turn on their goggles & controller, then get in the air. We had a nasty line of thunderstorms come through our town last night, causing property damage, uprooting trees and breaking tree limbs. So I decided to take a quick peek around the main HOA facility to see if there was anything noticeable besides minor limb damage. their in-house landscaping crew had already cleaned up the broken limbs that I had spotted earlier.

if you've never been down to the Florida Keys, you are missing a very scenic experience. There is only 1 road in and out, so avoid going during heavy tourist season if you don't want to wait up. Fill up your gas tank, because there weren't many gas stations available and those were much higher priced than on the mainland. Michael with @txarchdroneguy4731 was with us on this trip, exploring the Florida Keys after we had spent several days up at Jensen Beach for the South Florida Drone Meet-up event. @KeyLargoDude gave us some great suggestions for places to fly, which is why we got such great footage. We met up with several Canadian snowbirds, one of which was drone pilot Linda Gadreau, who appears at the end of this video. Linda was a very talented pilot and photographer. This is a short, but funny, video from the hotel lobby at the Hampton Inn & Suites, in Stuart Florida, the official hotel for the South Florida Drone Meet-Up event. We were flying our DJI Avata FPV drone thru the lobby & out into the parking lot on Saturday night, entertaining ourselves and others. The little boy in the video was fascinated by the drone. We let him watch on our connected phone, while we flew it around some more. When Matty's daughter learned that he had lost his first drone on its first flight, she retrieved her new toy drone, that she had been given earlier in the day during the Meet-up, and gave it to the boy instead. We gave him a landing pad to go with it, then talked with his Dad about the TRUST online test and some basic tips about how to prevent a fly away next time. Just a short video from the DJI Avata FPV drone as we buzzed around the Jensen Beach Causeway and the nearby Boat Mooring area.

While we were in Stuart & Jensen Beach Florida around the first of April, we spotted a sidewalk sign advertising "Cars & Coffee" in a local shopping center. We zipped around the block and stopped in to say hello. After asking permission to fly around the cars, we put our DJI Avata FPV drone in the air and recorded this video. Because this was both "Cars" and "Coffee", we had to fly thru the Googan Coffee Shop's drive thru and tried to order a Cappuccino from them. Alas, coffee (or any liquid) isn't very good for a drone, so we left without it. Our thanks to the group for letting us fly and record this video. Just a short drone video of the Sunshine skyway Bridge, just south of Tampa Florida. We got there just before sunset and I think it turned out pretty good. We've got another video that we'll post later, that was taken before sunset.

A group of 11 drone pilots from the South Florida Drone Meet-up went on 1/2 day fishing trip on Monday after the event. We all had a great time. I got totally soaked by the spray over the bow of the boat and got a pretty strong sunburn out of the deal despite having the SPF 50 sunscreen on me. Note to self: sitting in the front of the boat when it's heading into some choppy weather, it's like sitting in the splash zone at SeaWorld. Great view, but I got totally soaked. @txarchdroneguy4731 and @Duranafy Both flew drones from the top deck of the boat. I highly recommend the captain of the Lady Stuart if you're wanting to go out and do a fishing trip in this area Florida. They were very accommodating. #sfdm #southfloridafishing #ladystuart

We got out there early, way before sunrise and waited for the sun to peek above the clouds. We had about a 60 to 70% cloud cover this morning. The winds were pretty calm and it was very beautiful and peaceful out there this morning. It got pretty windy though, in the afternoon, with winds sustained over 20 mph and gusting.

Just a short video where Scott, Jackrabbit FPV was flying his DJI FPV drone, being chased by two DJI Avata FPV drones flown by Barkley and myself before the South Florida Drone Meet-up got started on Friday, March 31st.

Almost 150 drone pilots are expected to converge for this event. They've got people coming from Canada and all over the US.

We were driving east on IH-10 through Mobile Alabama and discovered that they had a tunnel that goes underneath the downtown area. I sure would not want to drive this way if they were having a hurricane in the area or heavy thunderstorms.

Just messing around out in the parking lot at the South Florida drone meet up this afternoon and Barkley was showing us his LED light kit that he installed on the DJI FPV racing drone.

This video was made on the 1 year anniversary of this fire & reviews what happened in Medina County Texas on a lonely road one Friday night, March 25th, 2022, when a car broke down on the side of the road and caught the weeds on fire. Guess the driver didn't have a fire extinguisher available, but the resulting fire burned up over 1,000 acres and a handful of homes. Multiple nearby communities were forced to evacuate, while others downwind were placed on notice to stand by for possible evacuation. Fire crews worked thru the night, non stop, in rotating shifts to contain the fire and protect property. Our thanks to the @MicoGhostTheOldCodger for sharing his footage with us, taken during the fire. He was in one of the communities on standby, but was just outside the TFR (Temporary Flight Restriction) area, so was able to pop his Mavic 3 drone up in the air and take advantage of the awesome built-in zoom that this drone is so famous for having. We had about 30 minutes to "waste" while waiting for an appointment and spotted some activity at the construction site across the street from our location. Naturally, we put a drone in the air and went over to check it out. New Life Cosmetic Surgery & Wellness Center, based in McAllen, Texas, is now building a new office located in Boerne, Texas, on the corner of Waterview Parkway & Herff Road. We had some time to kill before our next appointment, so we put the DJI Avata FPV drone up in the air and chased around the building and parking lot. The answer my friend is blowing in the wind, or at least this drone was blowing in the wind. Yes, the lake still had plenty of water in it when we flew our drone nearby. Drone was the DJI FPV Racing drone, not the most stable drone in the wind that one could ask for, but it was the one we were flying at the time.

This revised short 2.5 minute video is from the 2023 16th Annual Fest of Tales event, sponsored by the San Antonio Parks Foundation and held in McAllister Park. This video includes footage from both the kite flying portion and the pooch parade / dog adoptions. This park is just north of the San Antonio International Airport, so we had to obtain special permission from them before we were able to fly in this park. Normally, you cannot fly in this area of the park. It is considered a No Fly Zone for drones.

This annual event was held in McAllister Park, just north of the San Antonio International Airport. It was sponsored by the San Antonio Parks Foundation and HEB. This video is of the pooch parade, where the dogs (and owners) were dressed up to participate. There were approximately 3 dozen entries in this free event this year. Temperature was in the high 80's at the time of the parade, so the owners were very careful to keep their dogs watered and let them rest in the shaded areas right after the parade. This video was taken using a camera, instead of a drone, due to the close proximity to the animals and crowd of people. We didn't want to irritate the dogs' sensitive hearing nor risk accidentally flying over people. Unfortunately, this camera didn't have the EIS function activated, so the image is a bit jerkier than our normal production.
