Avril & I got married yesterday at Canyon Lake Texas with the sun going down behind us. The sun photo-bombed the video while Ray McLeaird officiated the ceremony. Avril is from Capetown South Africa and immigrated to America about 5 years ago, so what are the Las Vegas odds that we'd meet and get married? We both feel that the Lord had a hand in our meeting and falling in love with each other.

During a visit to Evansville, Indiana, back in October 2023, we flew around the Dress Plaza Riverfront in the downtown area, just playing aerial tourist. We checked out 2 war memorials, the LST325 Museum, the Vietnam War Memorial and the Four Freedoms Monument. The Ohio River flows past Evansville, with a width up to a mile or more, depending upon water levels. The other side of the river is the state of Kentucky. Back in October 2023, we were visiting Memphis Tennessee. We used the DJI Mini 3 Pro drone to take this video footage of the downtown Memphis Riverfront area. It is still very scenic, even though the water level in the Mississippi River was rather low due to the drought conditions. Universal City Texas has been putting on a Veterans Day Parade for over 40 years, usually on the Saturday before November 11th, to avoid conflicting schedules with neighboring cities. While the name of the local REACT Team has changed over the years as the different Teams have grown or combined into today's larger area Team, volunteer members of the Hill Country REACT Team have been helping the UC Police Department to control traffic access onto the parade route for over 30 years. River City Drift organizes monthly Drift events or Meetups in the San Antonio Texas metro area, year round, weather permitting. Driver skills ranged from the beginner to the experienced, but they had 2 different tracks set up in the parking lot of Rollings Oaks Mall. One track was for practicing drifting around a set of barrels in a multi figure-8 series of loops. But the main track was designed to allow the drivers to build up some serious speeds while burning their tires around the curves. Periodically during the day, the officials would halt the activities, to enable the field observers to reset the course barrels, barricades and traffic cones. That was needed on a regular basis, as the less experienced drivers tended to collide with them on the curves as they failed to stay on the marked route. We did obtain permission from the organizers to fly our DJI FPV Racing drone for a few hours during their event. There were several other FPV drone pilots out there a well, causing us to back off on some of the chases due to busy airspace above the track. You will see some of those other drones in this video. While on vacation in October, we stopped by to visit an old friend, who had moved to Tennessee near Chattanooga. LLoyd showed us his obstacle course that he had built out in the woods behind his property, where he played with his RC Truck in his spare time. Quite a track he's built out of spare pallets, paint stirrers, and other items. You can't see it from off his property because, as you will see, it's hidden out back. We enjoyed the visit and chased the RC Truck, with some help from Steve, the friendly German Shepherd dog that lives with Lloyd & his wife. We happened to stop in at the Bass Pro Shops at the Pyramid, located on the east banks of the Mississippi River, in Memphis Tennessee. Naturally, after making a trip up to the observation deck (at $8 a person) and having $$ dinner, my GF and I went back out in the parking lot and stuck a drone up in the air. We launched the DJI Mini 3 Pro drone to scope it out from a nearby vacant parking lot. But due to the extreme height of this pyramid, which caused some signal interference, we only flew the two sides. We spent the day out at the Texas Transportation Museum in San Antonio, Texas, on Wetmore Road, just north of the San Antonio International Airport. We obtained FAA LAANC approval to fly our drones in this normally Zero AGL (no fly zone) area and proceeded to chase real trains, model trains, and check out the Early Model Ford Show that was going on that Saturday. We spent a lazy Sunday morning out at a friend's property in the Texas Hill Country, north of Kerrville, Texas, just hanging out with his 2 dogs. Very laid back, no loud music or traffic noises to disturb our peace. No neighbors right next door either, but you do need a high clearance vehicle to access the property. While flying your drone at 250ft AGL, keep a sharp eye out for the winged neighbors who might object to your intrusion into their habitat as well. Music from Epidemic Sound. The River City Drift group had planned for their normal September night of exhibiting their drifting skills with their cars, but due to a last minute glitch in obtaining a permit (we think), they had to cancel the event. So Plan B was to come over to the San Antonio Karting Complex, in Marion Texas, to race in go-karts and have a lot of fun. They spent about 3 hours of racing after sunset and had a lot of fun. This video is about their fun night racing go-karts. We're not sure what happened to cause the crash, other than perhaps pilot error? But we were turning around at a decent altitude above the ground, trying to get a shot of the go-kart racer who had just spun out in front of the drone. Suddenly, the drone slipped to the left and lost control, hitting the ground and breaking one of the propellers. We were curious about the water level at Canyon Lake (TX), so after we made the trip up there for the Central Texas Drone Meet-up, we sought out the nearest public boat ramp (#1 of 25) and flew our DJI Mini 3 Pro drone from there. Not very crowded, since the ramp was closed to vehicles and boats on trailers. You could still walk past the barricades to launch non-motorized water craft (canoes, kayaks, inner tubes, paddle boards, etc.) We captured some footage of a couple floating on inner tubes and one lady on a paddle board.

We were out flying the DJI Mini 3 Pro drone on Saturday morning, checking out the low water levels at Canyon Lake (TX), when a military chopper flew over the lake and 4 paratroopers jumped out of a perfectly fine working helicopter and landed in the water, not on the shore. Of course, with the almost record low water levels in the lake, we're not sure that made much of a difference in the end. The drone was shooting 2x from about 50ft above the lake surface and over 1 mile away from the landing zone of these paratroopers. We were visiting Port Aransas the other weekend and decided to put the DJI Mini 3 Pro drone up in the air for awhile to watch the ferries traveling between Port Aransas and Aransas Pass. It's a pretty short trip, compared with the ferries between Galveston and Port Bolivar, for example. Most of the passengers stay in their vehicle for the short 5-10 minute trip across the water. The Kite Fliers from the Coastal Bend Flying Circus & Surfside Fliers Kite Club were out in force on August 19th to showcase their kites. Larie Gardner & her BF Tim Cook organized this event at Mile Marker 13 on the Port Aransas Beach. This is on the Texas Gulf Coast, near Corpus Christi. For this daytime video, we flew the DJI FPV Drone in winds 12mph-18mph, which caused the drone, & subsequent video footage, to tilt at an angle when flying sideways against the winds. This was also the first time that our GF Avril Rollison had experienced a "drone ride-a-long" by wearing a 2nd pair of drone goggles to be able to see what the pilot was seeing. We were very fortunate to spot these dolphins as they were escorting this tanker ship out of Corpus Christi Bay, via the Aransas Pass channel, out to the Gulf of Mexico on Sunday. The water was so clear, that the drone had no problems zooming in with the camera to follow them. We counted as many as 4 dolphins at one point, all leaping together, staying just in front of the huge tanker ship. We flew the DJI Mini 3 Pro for this flight, with an ND32 filter installed on the camera due to the bright sunlight and almost no clouds in the sky. Audio track was recorded live by us. Having fun flying & getting paid to do it... Flying 25-30MPH around the top circuit of the Alamo Dome in San Antonio. Couldn't find an available high school track, so did this instead. Yeah, right!

Six Flags Fiesta Texas has been putting on a combination Fireworks and Drone Show at their park on weekends during the month of July 2023. In August, the drone show is only happening on the first 2 Saturdays. This video was taken on August 5th. Unfortunately, the drone show's images were facing away from the La Cantera shopping center where I was parked. But if I had flown around to the opposite side of the park to see them correctly, I risked flying out of visual flight range and possibly even over people whom I couldn't see on the ground because it was dark. I compressed the "dead areas" of the video as much as possible, but it still ended up at around 15 minutes long. That's too long for most YT videos, but I'm going to leave it that way. The Drone Show portion starts at the 9:11 mark if you want to skip past the beautiful fireworks. This video was shot for fun and enjoyment. It is not authorized by SFFT. I did not fly over SFFT property, people or moving vehicles while recording this video. The DJI Mini 3 Pro was used to record it, using a wide-angle lens attachment. Race on Texas flies drones here & broadcasts the live stream of the races to the Internet for it's customers. This race car chasing activity had been on our bucket list of things to do with drones, ever since @maxair420 and @TammieJean started showing how to do this on their channels. Because of the live stream broadcast, this track normally doesn't let other drone pilots participate, but for some reason they decided to show mercy on us and allow it this time. So we thank the race track management and the owners of Race on Texas for allowing us to experience this wonderful activity. We flew the DJI Avata FPV Drone in Sport Mode for this video. This is the seventh in a series of race car chasing videos from that Saturday night down in Corpus Christi, Texas. It was possibly the 6th race of the night, however. Things we learned that night. Batteries and more batteries. Need a way to recharge them in the field fast enough to keep flying. We ran out of the 5 DJI FPV drone batteries and switched over to the DJI Avata drone next. That drone couldn't even try to keep up with the race cars on it's best day. After we had exhausted the Avata batteries, we switched over to the DJI Mini 3 Pro drone. It was faster than the Avata in Sport mode, but didn't have the acceleration to keep up.
