Dog Training and Problem Solving

This will teach your dog to go to a rug or carpet and remain on it until you give the release command "your Through". While walking your dog there on your right side, say place and stop short of the rug or carpet. allow you dog to go the rest of the way. Once on the rug or carpet they can do whatever they want except come off until told so. If your going to leave them there for awhile, place their toys on it as well. If you make a mistake and tell them to stay or down, simply release them and place them back on the rug or carpet. You can move the rug or carpet around the house where you need it to control them. Entertaining company, cooking or eating all will control your dog when needed.

When the Dog is out at the end of the leash, say come and give a lot of praise. Never call your dog to come and correct him/her for doing something wrong. Once in front of you, lightly jerk upward with the leash placing him/her in a sit. From here place the leash in your right hand jerking back saying heel. The dog should come around you and sit at your left side in the heel position.

kneel down next to your dog. Place you hand under the collar and with a downward pressure say down getting your dog to go down in the down position. With a puppy as seen on the video you can take your three fingers and grab their forearms, pulling their feet out beneath them placing them in a down position. Do this a couple of times and they try without pulling down or grabbing their forearms. once in the down position say stay and praise a lot.
