Catch and Cook Catfish With A Telescopic Fishing Rod / Day 22 Of 30 Day Survival Challenge Texas
All you can do some days is THE NEXT THING. It's not easy to be thankful when you're 22 days away from family on Thanksgiving day. But no matter how hard it is or tired I am, I do the next thing. I rebate my fishing line and try something new. You don't give up, do you? Just keep on casting. And at some point you figure it out and you start catching catfish again. So you start the fire, you've got the catfish and you eat it. And if that's all you have strength to do. You do the next thing.

Fishing Fails At The New Location / Day 21 Of 30 Day Survival Challenge Texas
This is our first day fishing at the new location and so far, no good. I tried worms and lures, but thus far failed to catch any fish. If fishing fails to provide, we will be on a strict diet of raccoon more than likely. I was told there would be boar, rabbit and turkeys at this location. If that fails, then the last nine days is really going to stink. Fishing never seems to fail completely, but too long of a dry spell could really hurt us.

I woke to an empty camp. It's been over 10 hours since I heard him puking in the night and I haven't been able to find him. I'm going to have to hike out to where I can get a signal and see if there's any messages on his whereabouts.

Catch And Cook AGAVE Edible Plants / Day 19 Of 30 Day Survival Challenge Texas
It makes TEQUILA and you've seen agave syrup in your grocery store or in products sweetened with its nectar. It's about 1.5 times sweeter than sugar. And fortunately for us, the agave grows here in Texas. During my traipsing around, I managed to find a good number of agave plants. We are out here to catch and cook anything we can get our hands on. So we decided to harvest one of the agave, cook it to caramelize the sugars, and hopefully make it edible.

Primitive Catch and Cook Crawfish Trap /Day 17 Of 30 Day Survival Challenge Texas
After the storm swept the majority of our crawfish traps away, I decided to make my own Primitive Crawfish trap. From day one, crawfish has been a stable source of food. The first day we set the folding traps, we managed to catch a pound of crawfish within an hour. We had been cooking crawfish for dinner almost every other day until the storm hit. Unfortunately the lightly constructed folding Crawfish traps did not survive the river rising 6 feet and they were swept away in the deluge. It took me a few days to find the resourcesTo repair my crawfish catching situation. To build a primitive crawfish trap I would need sticks And vines flexible enough to form the basket of the primitive trap. But once the Primitive crawfish trap was done We would be cooking crawfish again. And I can't tell you how nice it is When the majority of our meals of ben raccoon To be able to catch and cook Crawfish For dinner.

Catch and Cook Rabbit With 50 Cal Air Rifle Dragon Claw / Day 16 Of 30 Day Survival Challenge Texas
Finally got to take a shot at something with the 50-caliber air rifle. I have been out hunting every day with the Air rifle since it came and no luck on the Turkey or dear so far. Fortunately, I have a night vision scope and while I was on my way back I spotted a rabbit in the woods. I came across the 2 fairly skittish rabbits that ran off before I had a chance to line up a shot. The third rabbit I came across I managed to sneak up on with the air rifle. Yeehaw FinallySomething different to eat. When I set out that morning my goal was not to catch and cook rabbit So this is a pleasant surprise. The 50 caliber air rifle is slightly large For stuff like hunting rabbits But it worked awesome. And the rabbit cooked up To a most delicious meal.

Rattlesnake And Possum Slingshot Hunting Catch And Cook / Day 8 Of 30 Day Survival Challenge Texas
I set out to go hunting with my slingshot expecting rabbits and found a very different sort of game. In fact i almost steeped the rattlesnake. That is not the recommended way to fine them let me tell you. Just about stoped my hart when i herd the rattlesnake at my feet start doing his thing. Slingshot hunting is hard enough but the dark makes it 4 times harder. And the way the rattlesnake was moving about made it even harder but years of practice kicked in and i didn't even think as i lined up on the rattlesnake with my slingshot and just let fly. As awesome as hunting rattlesnake is with a slingshot it is not a lot of food so i kept hunting and it payed of with a chance to take a opossum with the slingshot not even an hour later. Now we will be eating good!!! The opossum is the biggest game i have ever take while hunting with a slingshot.

Catch And Cook Water Snake / Day 7 Of 30 Day Survival Challenge Texas
"I Hate Snake" Hates a strong work i would hate to have a snake crawl on me. Or should I say Slither on me or bite me. But I think if I'm the one choosing to do the handling of them I'll be ok. And when it comes to eating I don't think there's anything I'm afraid to catch and cook. So if staying alive means catching cup water snake You better believe I'll do it.

Catch and Cooking Catfish On The Fires Coals / Day 5 Of 30 Day Survival Challenge Texas
After eating Nothing but crawfish for 4 days, something has got to give or I'm going to get really skinny really quickly. Catfish is our best option to right now to put a bunch of meat on the proverbial table. I have been working at catching one for a few days. And I think I am getting to know the way things work around here better every day. Today will be the day for sure that I catch and cook a catfish for dinner.

Slingbow Fishing Attempt With The Hammer Slingshot /Day 4 Of 30 Day Survival Challenge Texas
Health and wellness check and then I'm going to see if I can do some slingbow fishing. We were down at the river the other day and saw a good deal of gar rising. I don't have a lot of slingbow fishing experience but I kind of know my way around a slingshot so if there are as many fish rising again today we should do well with the slingbow and land us something good to eat.

How To Eat A Cactus Fruit AKA Prickly Pear/ Day 3 Of 30 Day Survival Challenge Texas
You win some and you lose some when it comes to eating cacti if you do it wrong you definitely lose. The Red cactus tuna that grows on the top of the cactus here in Texas is very juicy and full of lots of sugars and carbohydrates. Under normal circumstances I don't eat sugar. In my day-to-day life, I Eat ketogenic. Meaning I don't do carbs or sugar. But in a survival situation When calories are what counts for keeping up your energy Nothing is off the table. Including risking a few thorns and your tongue to get a tasty treat off the cactus.

Catch and Cook Turtle Soup / Day 2 Of 30 Day Survival Challenge Texas
Have you ever eaten a turtle? Well, now I can say yeah to that, and I was kind of surprised. Catching and cooking Turtle is not something I can do at my home in Maine. Fortunately, it is covered under the hunting license I bought here in Texas. Catch and cook at its finest, beggars can't be choosers in a survival situation if it's safe and if it's legal down the hatch it goes.
