Batman: Return to Arkham City is the 2016 remaster of the original Arkham City, released in 2011. The remaster featured improved textures, lighting and effects and was ported from Unreal Engine 3 to Unreal Engine 4. In 2018 both Return to Arkham games (Arkham Asylum and Arkham City) received Xbox One X Enhancements, further upgrading their visual settings and resolution. Return to Arkham City is locked at 30fps unless you have the disc version. The disc release has an uncapped frame rate. The trick is to go offline, install the disc version and never update. The update locks the FPS to 30. Native resolution is 1080p, but upscales to a 4K output on Series X! The overall look of Return to Arkham is quite different from the original release. Fans of the series are divided over which version looks better, with a majority favoring the original game, but both versions have their strengths. Skyrim for Nintendo Switch runs , looks and plays extremely well on Nintendo's super-popular hybrid handheld console. I found it to be sort of a cross between the old Xbox 360 version and the Xbox One base console Edition--but much closer to the Xbox One. How about Skyrim Switch Edition vs Skyrim on Xbox Series X, a premium console version? On paper it's a mismatch. It isn't really a fair comparison, the idea was to get an idea of how close the Switch is able to get to the premium experience. A lot closer than I expected. Skyrim Switch Edition, in docked mode is a little stretched trying to fill a large 4K TV, but where it shines is in handheld mode. On the smaller screen, most of it's visual compromises all but vanish and it is ridiculously awesome to be able to take a bonafide version of Skyrim with you wherever you go! Fallout 3, Xbox Series X! Full Metal Wasteland! 4K/60fps. Fallout 3 looks and plays great, 16 years after it's initial release, running on the Xbox Series X in 2024! This is still the Xbox 360 version of the game, but on Series X it runs the Xbox One X Enhanced Patch at 60fps instead of the original 30fps. The Xbox One X Enhanced Patch increased the resolution from 720p to 4K, increased draw distance, texture resolution and filtering--basically allowed the game to run at it's maximum visually. On Xbox Series X and S, FPS Boost increases the framerate to 60. The Xbox Series X, without a doubt, offers the definitive and best-ever console version of this all-time great videogame. Fable 2, Xbox Series X: 4K Auto-HDR! Fable 2 is an excellent, old-school adventure RPG with a "feel-good" feel and lots of humor and charm. The epitome of a "cult classic," over the years Fable 2 has attained an almost mythical status, in part because it is one of the few major titles of the last 20 years never to be ported to PC. It was also never released for Playstation 3. Most gamers have heard of it, heard whispers of it--but, unless they owned an Xbox 360, have not actually played it. Fable 2 runs with the Xbox One X Enhanced patch, and Auto HDR on Series X. This is the original Xbox 360 game, not a remaster, but it looks so good with the enhancements, it almost could be. Mass Effect, Xbox Series X: Remembering the Original Xbox 360 Classic! 4K Mass Effect on the Xbox 360! For many of us, this was our first encounter with this amazing game. No doubt, Mass Effect Legendary Edition on Xbox Series X is incredible, and it's great to play Mass Effect at 60fps in 4K resolution. But lets remember how it was, years ago, to play this game for the first time! The excitement, the realization, in real time, that you were in on something really special. Every time I hear the opening theme to Mass Effect, it puts a lump in my throat. Such is my attachment to these characters. They will be with me as long as I can hold a controller. This is the original Xbox 360 version of Mass Effect, running on the Xbox Series X. I hope this montage, set to the Mass Effect Opening Theme, brings back as many memories for you, as it does for me. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Xbox Series X! 4K/60fps Have you played a lot of Skyrim? Ever wondered what lies to the South of Helgen? Below Falkreath hold--on the other side of the Jerall Mountains? Cyrodiil of course, the heart of the Empire. And an entire other Elder Scrolls game. Oblivion, released 6 years before Skyrim in 2006. In fact, for a lot of hardcore Elder Scrolls Fans and/or Bethesda Games Studios fans, The Elder Scrolls IV, Oblivion remains the best Scrolls game to this day (although both Morrowind and Skyrim have their ardent supporters). If you have only played Skyrim and want a little more Tamriel in your life, there is a whole other game here for you. Oblivion looks as good as an 18 year old game can on Xbox Series Consoles. This is the Original 2006 Xbox 360 version of Oblivion, but running at 60fps instead of 30fps, with increased resolution (near 4K vs 720p), draw distance, texture resolution and filtering--as well as a few other enhancements.
