Hey 64th Gear Jammers, this is Logan and you’re watching Toy Talk. Today I’m here to talk about what a collector is and some types of collectors that are out there. I’m a long time farm toy and toy truck collector and my collection and businesses have been featured in both Toy Trucker ‘N Contractor and Toy Farmer magazines.
According to Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary a collector is a “person who makes a collection.” Real specific right? So let me dig deeper and get the definition of a collection. Webster’s Dictionary defines a collection as “something collected – especially an accumulation of objects gathered for study, comparison, or exhibition, or as a hobby.”
You probably are a collector whether you know it or not.
What do you collect? Let me know in the comments below.
There are many kinds of collectors.
But most important, there is the person who focuses on one or two things. For example, the doll collector. The doll collector may focus on brand name dolls exclusively, such as Barbie, or she may collect dolls in general. The dolls bring the collector joy in finding them, seeing them and showing them off.
Farm toy collectors are generally very brand specific, such as John Deere, Allis-Chalmers, or Case. These collectors only collect their brand and ignore the rest making for a focused collection that is sure to be envied. Scale is not usually important to the brand collector as long as the brand is right.
Still another type of farm toy collector is manufacturer specific. He collects either Ertl, SpecCast, Universal Hobbies, or any other maker. These collectors are very loyal and keep adding pieces to their collections often buying everything that a manufacturer makes.
Truck collectors, are often brand specific. Peterbilt collectors and Kenworth collectors are probably the most dominate group.
A truck collector might collect real trucks or toy trucks. Toy truck collectors are typically more scale specific. The most common scale is 1:64th, but 1:50th and 1:34th have a strong collector base. And let’s not forget 1:14th scale radio controlled trucks have a rabid collector group.
Toy truck makers are another criterion that collectors really take into consideration when adding to their collection. 1:50th and 1:34th scale trucks are dominated by First Gear. Diecast Promotions was the most prominent maker of 1:64th trucks. But several other manufacturers are carving out their niche in the 1:64th scale market such as Advantage Diecast and Neo Scale Models.
Materials used to make toy trucks are yet another factor that collectors think about. Diecast metal is the main material, but tin trucks, plastic trucks and model kits have a solid base. Resin hybrids are the coming toy truck models to collect. Advantage Diecast and Neo Scale Models are pioneering this method and are releasing trucks that collectors want to have but are not going to be made in 100 percent diecast. These releases will be coveted on the secondary market due to the very limited nature of the models.

So far, I have mentioned three kinds of collectors. Doll, farm, and truck collectors. I have mentioned some of the kinds of criteria they use in developing their “dream” collections.
My truck collection is made up of all brands and scales. All kinds of trucks are represented. I focus on 1/64th scale and have several models in that scale. But I still got the ho hum feelings from people who viewed my collection.
Not until I added UNIQUE 1/64th model trucks to my collection did that feeling go away. You can change the ho hum feeling you get from viewers of your truck collection by doing the same thing I did.
I added an exquisitely detailed Chevrolet Bison and Titan 90 as well as a Chevrolet C-65 flatbed to my collection.
Advantage Die Cast is offering you the opportunity to purchase any one or all three of these fantastic model trucks for a limited time. Limited in the sense only a few trucks of each kind are left. And they will never be made again.
If you want your collection to stand out from all the other collections out there, why don’t you click the links below to get one or all three of these trucks. By the way, at the links below you will get many bonuses that are not available anywhere else.

Diecast Truck Collecting Hobby or Investment

If you’re like me, you have a nice collection of toy trucks. You’ve spent some money over the years and bought toy trucks from lots of makers. Seeing them on your diorama or shelves gives you great joy. One of the best feelings in the world and you want to show off to your friends then this happens. Your friends say that’s nice.
The low you feel when your friends aren’t all ecstatic at seeing your collection. That’s your mind begging you to find something more. To find something that will jump out and scream look at me to your friends. To set your collection apart from everyone else. The choice is yours, find something that your friends will notice and jump at the chance to see or buy another truck that your friends already have.
I’m here to tell you today that it doesn’t have to be this way. When you look at your shelves you don’t have to just see a row of Peterbilt 379s, the same ones all your friends have. You can put a shining beacon that your friends are missing on your shelf. A truck that only a very select few have.
I’m talking about the Chevrolet Bison by Advantage Diecast. This beautiful truck comes as a black sleeper cab with long frame for cruising the highways in style.
Advantage Diecast has raised the bar on limited run detail. With only 500 made, this model only fits in the elite collections. Compatible with trailers by the major 64th scale truck makers, you can pick and choose a trailer to suit your personal style to really set off your collection.
If you want to step up and have a collection that gets noticed, I have two things for you. First grab my free book on Tips for Valuing Your Truck Collection. It will give you the foundation you need to make sure your collection is not only enjoyable but also a growing asset at your disposal.
