They would be according to the pattern of 4 around the throne, in this case the ark. There are also 4 around the altar as represented by the 4 Horns of the altar. In Ezk the "settle" of the altar is 4 cubits high representing the 4 names of these military leaders: 4 Spirits of the Heavens 4 Horns 4 Carpenters 4 Sore Judgements In Rev 9 they are the "voice from the four horns of the golden altar." They then release these 4 angels/captains who are considered people just like the 12 angels in New Jerusalem (bride). These would be of the highest rank only behind the 2 Witnesses and the "Mordecai." Also they are guardians like we find in 2 Ki 11:4-11 they are over 1/3 part, compass the King with his weapons from the 4 corners of the temple and altar. This year I'm understanding Yom Teruah as the "voice" (phōnē) of the trumpet and Day of Atonement / Yom Kippur as "sound" (salpizo) of the trumpet. Hopefully I don't have to explain this distinction as it's been covered many times as the "voice" or "phone" of the trumpet to the elect is again summoning to the throne. Num 29:1 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath (šaḇâṯôn), a memorial (ziḵrôn) of blowing (ṯerû‘âh) of trumpets, an holy convocation. Ye shall do no servile work therein: but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord. The expression we read in English "of blowing the trumpets unto you" is a single Hebrew word. תְּרוּעָה tĕruw`ah Teruah is the word used in Josh 6 with Jericho when they Shouted! This happened after the seventh time they marched around the walls. Num 23:21 "the Lord his God is with him, and the shout (ṯerû‘âh) of a king is among them." This is the voice of the trumpet John heard in Rev 1:10 & 4:1. We also learned of the Lion, Ox, Man and Eagle trumpets of assembly. The "salpizo" sound of the trumpets is the Day of Atonement. Lev 25:8 Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubile to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound.... and proclaim liberty throughout all the land Isa 61:1 proclaim liberty to the captives..... 2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God. It's the salpizo in Mat 6 "when you do your alms, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues, to be seen of men." The seventh trumpet is to declare Christ as King! It is interesting to note in the Book of Jubilees that nearly all the sons of Jacob married Gentile women including Judah - as not all the sons took wives from Mesopotamian (Haran). I believe God designed this very early on in the piece so that the Gentiles would be grafted in to the covenant promise both spiritually and genetically even at that early stage. Ok messiah in Hebrew is simply anointed so I focus first on the Most Holy being anointed King. The 2 Witnesses are also "anointed" ones "cut off" in the middle of the week of 7 years. Therefore when they are overcome by the beast and complete 1260 days, this is the middle of the 7 year Great Tribulation. This would also mean that verse 27 "he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week" would refer to either the Messiah or the 2 Witnesses. Or it could mean both, Messiah 3.5 yrs at His first coming and the 2 Witnesses 3.5 yrs at His 2nd? Messenger of the Covenant?
