Guess the Difficulty - MSH Arcade Runs
Let's play GUESS THE DIFFICULTY! Two runs! Two extremes of the spectrum. Can YOU guess which is which? Sixteen possible points. Let me know your score in the comments.
Both playthroughs were recorded the same day about as back to back as I could get.
No save states were used. I played through once on one setting. And then on the second run with the other setting, I would quit out immediately if I did not get the same ladder. Once the game gave me an identical ladder. So both of these are one shots, beginning to end, presented in their entirety with minimal editing to sync up the round starts and to shuffle the deck during the scoring process.

Marvel Super Heroes Arcade Run 2024 (Psylocke) [No Gems]
Beating Marvel Super Heroes on the hardest difficulty with Psylocke (alternate colors.) While you can't disable gems in single player, you can choose not to use them, which is what I did here.
MSH is probably the easiest Capcom fighting game, so beating it on the hardest setting isn't that impressive.
To select a character's alternate colors, hover the cursor over the character you want and hold up (for top row characters) or down (for bottom row characters) for a few moments before pushing the button.
And it never fails. Hit record, and you start screwing up in ways you've never screwed up before. Oh well. Not my best run, but far from my worst run. It's definitely above average, though.

Lamest Arcade Run Ever! (X-Men: COTA)
Quite possibly, the lamest non-TAS arcade run ever (to weirdly appropriate totally inappropriate music)! I play X-Men: Children of the Atom (via MAME) on the hardest difficulty, basically spamming one move for the entire run because the CPU can't deal with it.
Seriously, this is literally twenty minutes of Psyblasts. By my count, I performed this one move 685 times. That's 85.6 PsyBlasts per match, 42.8 per round; 77.4 PsyBlasts per minute, and 1.3 per sec.
I have literally given my thumb a blister on multiple occasions doing this arcade run on a controller with a d-pad.
Technical Note: it is from one continuous run; however, Windows Capture on that particular computer does not like to record more than ~12 minutes (the sound glitches for about 10 minutes and then mysteriously goes clean again). So, I stopped recording during the victory screens, edited them out entirely, and just transitioned directly into the next match. I originally intended to do more editing and highlight the monotony of the gameplay while condensing it down via split screen, montage, and other techniques, but ... honestly? I didn't feel like sifting through the footage to make that happen. I did, however, always intend to use Korobeiniki & Trepek [sic] from Tetris: Axis on the 3DS.
One of these days I'll do an unedited run. Maybe. Eventually. Whatever.

X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse (SNES). Avalon and Magneto (Psylocke)
The eleventh and twelfth missions of X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse (there's no password given inbetween or after). Each X-man takes a different route through Avalon to face Magneto. If the Master of Magnetism then defeats you, and you continue with the same mutant on another life, you go straight back to Magneto and you don't have to go through Avalon, Exodus, or that mission's respective boss again. It's not an issue here because ... Psylocke has a move that makes Magneto's main attack trivial.
But, hey, what do you expect from a chick who jump kicks friggin' ROCKETS?

When MK11 says "Eff it."
Apparently the CPU in MK11 can sweep the leg when you're five feet in the air.

X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse (SNES). Avalon and Magneto (Cyclops)
Even though you're at the mercy of Magneto's RNG, Cyclops can comfortably and reliable beat him in one go unless you get really, really, really bad back-to-back patterns with the metal plates. But that's how you know whether or not God hates you ...

X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse (SNES). Sixth (Final) Password.
The tenth mission of Mutant Apocalypse, and I finally break out my favorite mutant, Psylocke. Her incredible jump, ability to bounce off opponents, and slide kick allow Betsy to dance circles around the Danger Room's Juggernaut simulation. It's not entirely necessary because with invincibility frames and high damage on her psychic knife, she can just tank the hits and kill the unstoppable virtual Cain Marko, but this is more fun.

X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse (SNES). Fifth Password.
The ninth mission of Mutant Apocalypse, and I used Wolverine to make perfect the Omega Red Danger Room simulation. Red never drops down on one of the platforms, so you want to stand near or even under it so you can hit him when he emerges. You don't want to stand in the middle of the room between the two platforms because he can hit you and drain your life when he's just barely off screen to either extreme of the room. While he is easy with his very predictable (and reactable) attack patterns, don't be fooled. He hits like a truck and can heal himself with your life force.
