The purpose of this video is to help you properly assess your threats. Many will make assumptions about hacks being the main threat. The real threat as explained in this channel repeatedly is surveillance. Could hack themselves be a significant threat? Let me explain the main obstacles to hacking a phone. These are the main protections built in to all mobile phones running iOS and Android. If you take certain precautions, it will be quite difficult to hack and assumptions by many that they have been hacked will often prove to be materially false. However, it is still possible to hack a phone. First by improper user choices. Next by those having a special skillset and funds to make use of Zero days. Very few people, seriously few, will be a target for the costly attacks using zero days. So are you a target? Judge for yourself based on what I will explain. People have commented on my videos saying how come criminals have managed to escape capture? If tracking is so rampant, how come they are still at large? Google wants to stop the ability to do Browser Fingerprinting because they can't control it. They've tried to come up with alternatives to appease the advertising community. A couple of years ago we heard of FLOC (Federated Learning of Cohorts) where users are tracked into groups based on interests determined by their browsing history. In fact this was tested without preamble and users may not have known that they have been categorized and that third parties were able to obtain this data. Now Google is dumping FLOC and moving to another concept they call TOPICS. Believe it or not, they explain this new tracking concept as a way to protect your privacy. You may be completely unaware that your location data is known at all times by Apple and Google. Google has shown in court documents that it provides this data to law enforcement by looking up people found in any geographic area at a certain time. This is used selectively. For example, it was used in the Jan 6 Capitol riots. Courts have repeatedly questioned whether the use of this is an abuse of the Fourth Amendment (on unreasonable search and seizure).
