Making more DIY handbag scarves in a new print this Sunday afternoon 👜 DIY handbag scarf (otherwise known as a "bandeau" or "twilly"). Luxury brands charge upwards of $200 for their versions, typically made out of silk. Mine are going to be made out of rayon, a drapey lightweight woven fabric. You can use similar fabrics for yours in any fun print, but I like rayon because it's fairly durable and can be hand washed. Yes, this is for real. TLDR: Unknowingly, I have been slowly destroying this YouTube channel and need to make drastic changes to save it. While we did recently cross the 100,000 subscriber milestone, viewership has been struggling for some time and I couldn't figure out why. I enlisted the help of a longtime YouTube employee who worked in Content Strategy, and he immediately pinpointed a few major issues: 1) Live stream format is driving away viewers 2) Content / format is all over the place, lacking cohesiveness and consistency 3) Too much time spent on other platforms (ie: website, Patreon, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook) with little return on investment I absolutely love my life as a full-time content creator, but realize that the Sewing Report needs to grow at a much faster pace than it currently is in order for this to be sustainable. I'm fully committed to doing whatever it takes to continue my journey on YouTube. Forgot to mention this in the video, but I have shut down my Patreon page as I have to be more laser focused primarily on YouTube. I greatly appreciate the small but mighty support over there! Let's set up and use the Brother PE900 embroidery machine for the 1st time. Recently I bought a new pair of sweatpants that arrived with a hole in the pocket, so I fixed it myself at the sewing machine. This quick & easy repair method works for a hole or gap at the seam of a pair of pants, skirt, or dress. It will *not* work for a tear or hole in the middle of the fabric. Demonstrated on a Juki DDL-8700 industrial sewing machine using Glide 40 weight trilobal thread (available in my Etsy shop). After my rather bizarre interactions with the PR firm representing the LOKLiK Crafter product launch, I looked into who actually owns and runs this organization and sister company HTVRONT. What I learned isn't necessarily surprising, but was a major factor into my decision to get a refund on my Indiegogo participation. I will not be featuring this product on the Sewing Report or allowing company representatives any airtime on this platform. Plus, I have an update email from "Kimberly"! Who is behind the LOKLiK Crafter and HTVRONT? On the HTVRONT website, it says the parent company is "Siki Eagle Sarl" based in France, and from what I can tell it owns quite a few companies underneath producing a wide variety of different products in Asia. Just from Google searching, it appears Siki Eagle Sarl operates at least 27 random e-commerce websites marketing to different demographics. Really excited for this DIY project - turning "free" cosmetic bags into luxury designer purses!
