Engine Disassembly the Right Way - Part 1: Preparation and Identification You have seen us machine engines, build them, and break them in. The one thing we have not shown you is how to tear them down. The disassembly process isn't just getting some tools out and taking it apart. It is a process that starts with identifying what engine you are working with and how you need to prepare. The engine I will be using to show the process is a Pontiac 400 V8 I got from Steve and Mary, family friends for decades.
