I've been taking Mounjaro weekly injections for 15 weeks now. My A1C went from 10.6 to 5.4 in 3 months. My weight loss continues as well. I'm down to 166 lbs from about 225-250. I've been using Mounjaro tirzepatide via weekly injection for 15 weeks now. It's hard to believe I'm almost at my goal weight. I really never thought I'd see the day. Below is a daily journal of the foods I eat and what happens when. I'm still struggling with a few of the side effects of this medication. Constipation is the most frustrating one! 19 February 2024, Monday Blood sugar – 122 Week 15 update: Starting blood sugar: 474 Blood sugar high: 122 (today) Blood sugar low: 71 (Weds) Blood sugar average this week (week 15): 92.14 Blood sugar average last week (week 14): 89 Weight this week (Week 14): 166.4 lbs Weight last week (Week 13): 169.6 lbs Gain/loss this week: -3.2 lbs Starting weight 225-250 lbs (not real sure as I stopped getting on the scale past the 220 lbs milestone. Denial is a real thing y’all). Starting weight day 1 of Mounjaro (Week 1) 185 lbs. Began Mounjaro for the Type 2 diabetes primarily. Losing some lbs would be a bonus. ------------------------------------------------ 18 February 2024, Sunday Blood sugar - ?? (forgot to take) 6am – Foot pain wake up again. 9am – 4 pieces of bacon. 2pm – ½ cold cut combo sub. 6:30pm – Handful of peanuts ------------------------------------------------ 17 February 2024, Saturday Blood sugar – 89 4:30am - Woke again to foot pain. 4pm – Half a cold cut combo sub. Took the top half of the bun off. 7pm – Crackers. --------------------------------------------- 16 February 2024, Friday Blood sugar – 98 5am – Woke to foot pain. Loking forward to seeing a podiatrist on 6 March. 10am – 2 eggs. 2 pieces of bacon. 2pm – Half a ham and cheese sandwich on whole grain. ------------------------------------------------ 15 February 2024, Thursday Blood sugar – 87 4am – Woke up with pain in right foot. Other than the foot pain waking me in the early morning, I’m sleeping well. 4pm – Ceasar salad. ---------------------------------------------- 14 February 2024, Wednesday Blood sugar – 71 10:00am – Mounjaro injection. 5mg dose. 4pm- Spaghetti and 1 meatball. 6pm – Pack of peanut butter crackers. 11:30pm – Woke up feeling like I need to have a bowel movement. Stomach hurting. Sulphur burps intense. When I sat on the toilet what felt like a burp went immediately to projectile vomiting with no warning. What a mess. Spaghetti from dinner and peanut butter crackers no longer a part of my digestion. ---------------------------------------------- 13 February 2024, Tuesday Blood sugar – 101 11am – Lunch. Ham and cheese sandwich. 4:30pm – Dinner. 1 ½ slices of pizza. ------------------------------------------------ 12 February 2024, Monday Blood sugar - 77 6am - Woke up with pain in right foot/ankle. I’m not convinced that this is arthritis. Still thinking gout. Foot still bothersome but it didn’t wake me all night with pain. Doctor has X-rays of my right foot. 11:00am – Lunch. Ham steak and one egg. Half an English Muffin. 4pm – Dinner. Cool Ranch Chicken breast. About ¼ of a breast. 6pm – Peanut Butter crackers. 6. ------------------------------------------- 8 February 2024, Thursday Blood sugar – Did not test today. 2:30am – Woke up foot pain. Also nauseous. Acid from the spaghetti sauce from yesterday’s meal. 2:45am – BM. Loose. 3:30am – BM. Loose. 4:45am – BM. Loose. 5am (ish) – Able to fall asleep. 5:45am. Foot pain wake up. Done trying to sleep. Hope my doctor has a solution for me soon. I’m exhausted from the last three nights of getting less than 5 hours sleep. So tired. 4pm – Salad. Ranch dressing. 6pm – Took a Tramadol for foot pain. Hope to sleep good tonight. ------------------------------------------------------ 7 February 2024, Wednesday Blood sugar – 92 9am- Breakfast. 2 egg omelet. 2 slices of bacon. 4:30pm – Spaghetti and meatballs (2). It was take out. Ate a little less than half the portion. Attempted to pick up my new Mounjaro prescription today. They said $998. I said nope. Has my insurance dropped my coverage? ---------------------------------------------------------- 6 February 2024, Tuesday Blood sugar – 85 Foot pain, mostly right foot, woke me up several times last night. Only got about 5 hours sleep total. 7:45am – Doctor appt. for foot pain. Is it gout? Results. Doctor took me off Lisinopril. Blood pressure medication. Could be causing aches in foot and legs. May not be gout. Waiting for the doctor to let me know. Took blood panel. New A1C = 5.4. Here's walk #1. I will be attempting to walk three days a week. I chose Monday, Wednesday, and Friday so I could have the weekend off to do as I please. I'll be starting with a short 20 minute walk this week and next. We will be building the time up as my strength improves and regains tone. Today I'm walking with my English Labrador Retriever. I've been taking Mounjaro for 11 weeks now. Going on week 12 on the 5mg dose. My blood sugar/glucose has dropped dramatically and is in the "excellent" zone. I continue to lose weight as well. Down 400.1 since the day before I started Mounjaro! Weight this week (Week 9): 173 lbs Weight last week (Week 8): 174.4 lbs Gain/loss this week: -1.4 lbs Starting weight 225 lbs. Starting weight day 1 of Mounjaro (Week 1) 185 lbs. Began Mounjaro for the Type 2 diabetes primarily. Losing some lbs would be a bonus. Sleep – Slightly better than last week. Woke in the middle of the night several nights. Stomach hurting. Woke in the morning nauseous on several days. Felt like I needed to vomit but the feeling passed pretty quickly once I got to my feet. Mood – Even though the side-effects have been more intense so far on the 5mg dose I’m finding myself happier and happier. I’m feeling good for one thing. I have my glucose under control finally! I can see in the mirror that I’m slimming down. Not just in my gut area but all over. Face, chest, neck, thighs and stomach being the most noticeable. My mood gets better as my health gets better. BMs – Still same old same old. About ½ the time loose stools, or outright diarrhea, and about half the time constipation. Miralax is still my friend. So far I have not noticed any beneficial effect from the 1000mg of Magnesium I’m taking daily. We’ll give it some more time and see how it goes. I definitely had less of an appetite this week. Almost none till yesterday, Friday. Yesterday I actually wanted to eat. I felt a bit hungry. 3:30pm- 5mg dose of Mounjaro ---------- 5 January 2024, Friday Blood sugar – 92 2pm – Lunch. 2 slices of meatloaf. 6pm – Popcorn. -------------------------- 4 January 2024, Thursday Blood sugar – 71 6:30am – BM. Down 40 over the last two weeks! Weight this week (Week 7): 174.4 lbs Weight last week (Week 6): 178.2 lbs - Gain/loss this week: -3.8 lbs Starting weight 225 lbs. Starting weight day 1 of Mounjaro (Week 1) 185 lbs Began Mounjaro for the Type 2 primarily. Losing some lbs would be a bonus. Sleep – Better than last week. Still had a few nights where I woke up early or in the middle of the night. About half those times I felt nauseous and experienced some heavier than normal sulfur burps. Mood – Been is a pretty good mood lately. Much better than a few months ago. Almost all the symptoms I had from my diabetes ae now gone. I still get a slight tingle in my left foot….but nowhere near as bad as it used to be. Seems to be less intense with each passing week. BMs – Same old same old. I used to be about ½ the time loose stools and half the time constipation. I’m more like ¾ time loose and the rest constipation. Hoping my body adjusts like it did on the 2.5mg dose. Time will tell. I definitely had less of an appetite this week.

Week 7 update: Starting blood sugar: 474 Blood sugar high: 119 (Sunday) 1 below my goal for the week’s avg to be under 120 Blood sugar low: 85 (Thursday) Blood sugar average this week (week 7): 104.6 Blood sugar average last week (week 6): 122.4 Down 17.8 this week. Down 30 over the last two weeks! Weight this week (Week 7): 178.2 lbs Weight last week (Week 6): 182.2 lbs - (had gained 2 lbs from the week prior) Gain/loss this week: -4 lbs Starting weight (Week 1) 185 lbs (Starting weight on Mounjaro. I had lost 40 lbs on my own since last June). Began Mounjaro for the Type 2 primarily. Losing some lbs would be a bonus. Sleep – Not as good as the last several week. Not really waking up to use the bathroom. Just find myself awake at 4am some nights. Some nights this was with a bit of an upset stomach. Able to get back to sleep. Had a few mornings of nausea. More than when on the 2.5mg dose. Two mornings woke up with a slight headache. Once I had my first cup of coffee they went away. Mood – Even though the mild side-effects seemed to be more intense, my mood remains positive. I’m feeling great. This week’s results on my blood sugar was outstanding! I was hoping to get under 110 ASAP. Never thought it would be this week with 104.6! BMs have been less consistent this week. I’ve noticed more loose stools this week. I have been taking Miralax when I don’t have a BM for longer than a day. Maybe that’s it. I just want to make sure things keep flowing. Got a comment from someone that said her husband came down with Diverticulosis and had many feet of intestine removed. I’m being vigilant in the poop department. It seems like I have had less of an appetite this week. I’m eating even smaller portions than I ate last week, mostly. I’m also feeling fuller faster and have noticed I’m easily able to stop eating as soon as I get that feeling. That’s different. This past week was my first dose of Mounjaro at the 5mg dose. The changes to my physical body in terms of lower blood sugar has got me motivated to make the life changes I should have made years ago…..but was too lazy. My mood has been much better. A bit stressed this week. But it’s a week before Christmas. Everyone gets stressed this time of year. At least I always have. Do you get stressed around the holidays? BMs much more consistent and solid. Very happy for this update! I wonder if my body just had to get used to the 2.5mg dose of Mounjaro? Will it come back now that I’ve moved up to the 5mg dose? I’ve thought more about food this week. Have wanted more snacks between meals. Mostly I’ve managed to control those urges. Mostly. Today was my first dose of Mounjaro at the 5mg dose. 14 December 2023, Thursday Blood sugar – 88 11am – Lunch. 2 egg and cheese omelet. 3 slices of bacon. 5pm – Dinner. Sonic cheeseburger. Small tots. I know I know. 13 December 2023, Wednesday Blood sugar – 124 7am – BM. Pretty regular this week. Back to normal as far as consistency and regularity. Wondering if this will change when I up my dose to 5mg? We shall see. 5:30pm Dinner. Ribeye and baked beans (very small portion- maybe 2 tbl spoons) 7pm - popcorn ------------------------------------------------- 12 December 2023, Tuesday Blood sugar – 124 8:30am – Two egg omelet. 9:30am – BM. 5:30pm – Dinner. Salad (very light on the dressing….but what’s a salad without at least some Ranch on it?!). Cold cut sandwich. 11 December 2023, Monday Blood sugar -152 7am – BM. Broke a streak! That’s three days in a row. 12pm – Lunch. Tuna sandwich on whole wheat. 5:30pm – Dinner. Pork steak. Carrots. 10 December 2023, Sunday Blood sugar - 127 9am – BM. Most normal one in weeks. Also, this is two days in a row with a somewhat normal BM situation. I’ll take it. Small victories! It’s weird how happy I was to see normal looking turds after these past 5 or so weeks. I swear, the older I get the more easily I’m amused and satisfied by the weirdest observations. 5:30pm - Dinner. Jambalaya. Small portion. About ¼ of normal. Felt full. Amazing how little I’m eating these days. You’d think the weight would be falling off me. Nope. Oh well. Feeling much better with lower sugar levels! 9 December 2023, Saturday Blood sugar – 118 3:00am – BM. Solid and feel like I should have done more. Feeling bloated. Maybe it’s the pasta I had last night? I took it very easy on the pasta….but made up for in with an extra helping of meatballs. Lesson learned. 5:30pm – Dinner. 2 home-made tamales from our favorite taco truck. Delish. Hope it doesn’t mess up my sugar level in the morning.

Fish and Chips. 7pm – Handful of Cashews. 4 December 2023, Monday Blood sugar – 138 9:30am – BM. Small. Loose. 5:30pm – Dinner. Pot Pie. 5 December 2023, Tuesday Blood sugar – 140 10am – BM. Loose. 2pm Lunch. 6” sub. Cold cuts. 6pm – Dinner. 2 hot dogs (no buns) and chili. 6 December 2023, Wednesday Blood sugar – 117 11:30am – Breakfast. 2 scrambled eggs. Slice of ham steak. 2pm – BM. 5:30pm – Dinner. Shrimp, sausage, potato, corn on the cob boil. 7pm – Bag of popcorn. I’ll regret it. Last time woke in middle of the night with stomach pains. 7 December 2023, Thursday Blood sugar – 132 7am – I was right about the popcorn I ate last night. Again, woke up in the middle of the night with stomach pains and feeling like I overate. No more popcorn at night for me. 5pm – Dinner. 8 oz steak. Shrimp and sausage. 8pm – Handful of peanuts. 8 Dec 2023, Friday - End of Week 5 and start of week 6 on Monjarao 2.5mg Week 5 update: Blood sugar high: 149 (Saturday) Blood sugar low: 117 (Wednesday) Blood sugar average this week (week 4): 134.6 Blood sugar average last week (week 3): 121.1 Up 13.5 (how disappointing) Starting blood sugar: 474 Weight this week (Week 3): 180.2 lbs Weight last week (Week 2): 180.6 lbs Starting weight (Week 1) 185 lbs Gain/loss this week: 0.4 lbs Sleep – Not as great as last week. Had a few nights where I woke up in the middle of the night. Mood – Still have a much better disposition and outlook on life. I have been concerned about my higher sugar level averages this week. It’s true, I have been snacking on nuts and popcorn more this week. It’s probably my fault. Or, it’s time to increase the dose. Will call the doctor this week and discuss. BMs still inconsistent. Maybe it’s my diet? I’ll have to have a closer look at that. I’ll be constipated for a few days….then have loose stools for a day or two. Probably due to the Miralax I’m taking to loosen the stools. Still learning my new reality. No headaches or queasiness this week. I’ve eaten more this week than the last few weeks. Not much more. A few nights where I was feeling snackish so had a bag of popcorn or a handful or two of peanuts or cashews. Still easily avoiding the sugar stuff. Still have had no interest in drinking diet soda. So weird.

We managed to get a few snow removal contracts this year. We’ll be enforcing a zero-tolerance ice policy with them. If the temp drops below freezing and there has been or will be any chance of precipitation….we go ahead and apply salt every 12 hours until it’s over. So we bought a SnowEx V-Maxx 8500 salt spreader and a SnowEx HDV snow plow from a guy in Kansas. We sold the Bad Boy and used that money to buy these. We show them to you in today’s vlog. Does your body ever adjust and get back to normal on Mounjaro. Is this something I’m just going to have to get used to while on this stuff?No headaches or queasiness this week.I’m eating far less. When I do reach for a snack it’s an apple, peanuts, and once this week, a bag of pop-corn. Weirdly, I’ve not drank a diet coke since I started on this stuff. I used to get a thirst that only a diet coke could quench. Don’t even think about it now. Coffee in the morning. Water and water mixed with an sugar-free electrolyte is my go-to now.I do get a bloated feeling quite often now. Here's this week's log for those interested: 18 November 2023, Saturday Blood sugar – 123 5:30am – BM. Not solid but plenty of it. 8:00am – Coffee! Not feeling hungry. Skipping breakfast. 10:50am – BM. More solid than this morning. Good amount. Bloated feeling is lessened…but still feel like there’s more. 1:50pm – Lunch. Sandwich on whole wheat. 5:15pm – Ate a handful of cashews. 6:30pm – Dinner. BLT minus the T on whole wheat. 19 November 2023, Sunday Blood Sugar – Forgot to take today. 3:30pm – Lunch/Dinner. 2 egg cheese omelet. 2 slices of SPAM. Not at all hungry today. Ate anyway as wife insisted I eat “at least something”. 20 November 2023, Monday Blood sugar – 95 11:00am BM 2:00pm – Lunch. Half a sandwich. Not hungry really. Felt stuffed after half. Couldn’t eat any more. 2:30pm – BM (diarrhea). 21 November 2023, Tuesday Blood sugar - 119 4:45am – Breakfast. 2 eggs 2 slices of bacon. 5:00am – BM (diarrhea). 6pm – Dinner. Hamburger. 7:30pm – Popcorn. 22 November 2023, Wednesday Blood sugar – 115 2pm – Lunch. 2 eggs scrambled. 3 pieces of bacon. 6pm – Dinner. Hamburger patty with slice of American cheese. 8pm – Two handfuls of nuts. 23 November 2023, Thursday Blood sugar – 111 2pm – Thanksgiving dinner. Quarter portioned all foods. Ate less than ¼ of what was on the plate. Not hungry at all. 7pm – Small slice of Pumpkin pie. I know my blood sugar is going to be mad tomorrow morning…..but a guy has to live ya know!? 24 November 2023, Friday - End of Week 3 and start of week 4 on Monjarao 2.5mg Blood sugar – 164 (That slice of pumpkin pie last night. Totally worth it!) Week 3 update: Blood sugar high: 164 (Thanksgiving Pumpkin pie slice?) Blood sugar low: 95 Blood sugar average this week (week 3): 123.2 Blood sugar average last week (week 2): 146.28 Blood sugar average: -23.08 from last week Starting blood sugar: 474 Weight this week (Week 3): 178.8 Weight last week (Week 2): 183.6 lbs Gain/loss: -4.8 lbs. Wow. Sleep – Another restful week! Stopped drinking fluids about 2 hours prior to bed. A few nights I was actually able to sleep all night without having to get up for the restroom. Most nights I’m still getting up once a night. Much improved from 2-3 a night before starting treatment on my diabetes. Mood – Mood is again much improved. Stress is almost non-existent. Is it the better sleep I’m getting? Is it blood sugar related? Whatever it is…I hope it stays this way! Had some diarrhea this week. Few days in a row. Also have had constipation. No BM in last 2 days. No headaches or queasiness this week. Thanksgiving. I thought this would be a tough day on both my blood sugar and eating. I love to eat and I’ve always been able to make the excuse on why it was ok to eat as I like on holidays like this one. This time it was different. I could smell this fixins getting cooked all day and looked forward to dinner. When we sat down I realized that, although everything smelt great….I wasn’t really hungry. I put a small amount of most offerings on my plate. ¼ of what I’ve dished myself in the past. I was only able to eat about ¼ of that small plate before feeling too full to finish. Crazy! I normally will have 2 heaping helpings on Thanksgiving. I left the table feeling full! Later I had a slice of Pumpkin pie. Had too. A guy’s gotta live. It was delicious but I paid for it this morning with my highest blood sugar all week! 164.
