New Greenhouse Build: Episode 3
I hope everyone is enjoying this series. By the end of the summer I will have the plastic needed to complete the entire build and will be able to extend my growing season.
The video cuts out at the end while I'm discussing next steps because my battery died.

Greenhouse Build-Up Episode 2
My mom is in town and decided that she wanted to help do some of the build up. She will be in the next couple video's, as we work together to get the posts bent and set up.

Greenhouse Build-Up Episode 1
I have to apologize for date/time, and monochrome color. I had accidentally messed with the settings on my new camera and it wasn't until after I filmed that I figured some stuff out with it.
I have begun a new greenhouse build up, since my last one failed so miserably. This series will show many of the steps I'm going through to build the structure, and install various options as I build them. This greenhouse is the start to my Aquaponics/Farm business Ringtail Farms and Aquaponics LLC. I hope to start selling produce, year round, to neighbors, friends, family, and the community at affordable/competitive prices that local grocers sell theirs, this way I can provide a healthy, home grown meal to my community.

Desert Verde Farm Tour Highlights, Santa Fe, NM 9-16-2023
Hi Everyone!
It's been a while since I posted my last video, life has taken over and maintaining my YouTube Channel has fallen a little.
The week after I toured and filmed this at Desert Verde Farm I caught Covid and it was a little bit of a recovery.
That said, I had a blast at the Aquaponics Conference in Albuquerque this year and I hope to attend future conferences as well.
I hope you enjoy my video of New Mexico's only Commercial Aquaponics facility, Desert Verde Farm in Santa Fe, NM.

Desert Puddle Life
A look into the life of some of our desert crustaceans. Yes, we have "shrimp" that call the desert landscape "home."
In this video I show you some Triops and Clam Shrimp that breed in our storm water retention impoundment at my office.
For more information, if you're interested, I've included the wikipedia pages for both animals.
These are some of the really interesting crustacean species that can be found in New Mexico.

Nothing says friendship like gardening together. I've watched this mantis grow from a little baby.
I love finding this mantis crawling around the Aquaponics system. She's definitely a welcomed guest.

Greenhouse and Aquaponics Update August 2023
Hey everyone,
I apologize for failure to keep this going with regular updates. Here's your August Update on the Greenhouse/Aquaponics system.
I will be building a new greenhouse this coming fall that will have much more room in it and be more structurally sound, because I'm done with this flimsy waste of money I bought.
If you have any pointers on a good DIY greenhouse, don't hesitate to add input, because I'm appreciative of any advice you have.

Aquaponics Update 6/27/23
It's a bit late. I've been having a hard time getting myself to finishing videos that I film and I apologize. Here's a quick update on what's growing in my system.
Since I filmed all of the xxl swiss chard has been removed and I have started a bunch of cabbage seed for this coming fall harvest. I am hoping to learn how to lacto-ferment with it this fall and start having that type of healthy preserved food on hand for now on.
I appreciate every one of you guys and gals who watch my videos.

General Update!
Little update on my aquaponics, as well as a short view of the chicken coop we are putting in and some stuff I'm growing around it.
Oh, I think I'm figuring out the volume issue when filming with my phone. So hopefully your eardrums are not as hurt by this video.

Front Flower Bed!
We did the front flower bed with some flowers I got my wife.
We are a good pair, because planting and growing stuff is something that brings me peace and joy, and being able to go look at flowers, watch bees and butterflies visit them, and just having flowers brings her peace and joy.

Saga of a "Cheap" Greenhouse
I apologize for the long wait. I was excited about the greenhouse, then it broke, then I fixed it and it broke again, then I fixed it again. Well here is the long video of our greenhouse build, rebuild, and final outcome.
It's the end of the semester and I have one final project, and one final exam left on the docket for it. I hope to take a week off soon and go see some of the local areas to document.
Please learn from my mistakes and save up for a much better build.

Harvesting Willow Bark for Tincture
First off I would like to apologize for the poor audio quality on this one.
Secondly, don't handle a knife the way I did. I ended up cutting myself because I wasn't thinking. Safety First folks, and I have a habit of not paying attention, which isn't safe.
Also, I spoke with my Mother-In-Law and when I bring all this Willow over to her, she will be doing a video for my channel on how to make the tincture! I also hope to do a little walk through of her artwork while I'm over there. She does some really cool stuff!

Fun at White Sands National Park, New Mexico
This past weekend, it was windy, it was wet, and we still went out to White Sands National Park to show the kids the Gypsum Dunes. It's a beautiful piece of New Mexico Desert between Las Cruces and Alamogordo.
If you're ever out this way, definitely go check it out.
I hope to have some better footage of the park this summer when I take the kids to look at the variations of earless lizard that inhabit the parks dunes.
The song used is from the YouTube Audio Library, and is Arkansas Traveler by Nat Keefe & Hot Buttered Rum
January 20, 2023
I made this after having a conversation with Chuck over at @togetherwegrow8340. It's been floating around Facebook and Instagram for a while. Not sure why I didn't put it here.
I may have killed all my plants!!!
So.. I didn't cover my aquaponics last night. Had a 10 hour work day at the office and forgot to go pick up plastic to cover it. As you can see from the thumbnail, temps got low enough to freeze just about everything in the system. The rock is even solid right now. So, now it's a waiting game and hope that the kale and other cold hardy greens survived.
If they don't, I won't fret, I will chock it all up to a learning experience and continue to press on. I am getting a greenhouse within the next couple months to put up around my system which will help keep everything from freezing over completely. My hope is that I can bring the water temperature up high enough for the roots of the plants to be comfortable throughout the year.
Also, the big reason I didn't go with something like Tilapia, instead going with Koi, is because they can handle low temperatures like this a lot better. Though, they are outgrowing the system.

Ootheca and System update
Earlier this summer I transferred a praying mantis to my system from a spot in the yard. She grew up and I'm excited to announce the discovery of her ootheca (egg casing) on my system. I can't wait to see the babies this coming summer.

Thanksgiving 2022, Memory Lane
I show you all a little piece of my past while visiting my grandparents place in Louisiana and collecting bald cypress seeds to try to sprout in the future.
This property was cleared and farmed by my grandfather for decades before he finally stopped growing crops on a large scale over the past few years. It was great seeing them this year and being able to walk around the property again.
