The Rising cost of tuition Fees and its danger
My worries are the rising cost of education across all our institutions both federal and state and no body talking about it. There’s this saying: if you think education is expensive try ignorant. I know education can be expensive but our government shouldn’t make it more expensive for the citizen.
Stop subsiding education; so, the IMF do recommend. but, where our leaders are missing it is, when buying into the so call advice of this big nations through IMF, World Bank and other international organization is that, we always fail to check their history when they still were growing, and examine, what policy do they apply to turn their situation around and how we can apply such to our situation.
The truth is, while these bigger nations were growing up as a developing nation, they subsidize their education and try everything humanly possible to make their citizens go to school

The Fuel Subsidy Dilemma: Illusion vs. Truth #corruption
let's talk about something that's been on everyone's mind - fuel subsidies. Is it really gone, as the government claims, or is there more to the story?
If we followed what the NNPCl DG Said few months ago, shortly after the removal of subsidy when there was a second hike in the pump price of PMS. The NNPC DG had this to say: that the forces of demand and supply across the globe will determine the pump price of PMS in the country. Well, that is half-truth. That is not the real cause.
Petroleum products are traded in dollar due to the petrodollar agreement with Saudi in the 40’s
And there’s technical devaluation of our dear naira know as: the liberalization of the exchange rate across all platforms. Dollar to a naira is about 1000 naira now. What do you think will be the landing cost of petroleum product like gas PMS, kerosene and other? Oh, and by the way a barrel of crude is about a 100 dollar now.
Whether we like it or not the word subsidy is not gone long as the PMS pump price still remains the same.
The only way subsidy can be taken out, is when we have self-sufficiency in production of petroleum products. If government should allowed the end users that is, the citizen bears the burden PMS might just hit that 1000-naira mark, and diesel could skyrocket to over 1400 naira.
But hold on, the government's got a little something up its sleeve. A few months back, the president's spokesperson reassured us that PMS prices wouldn't go up again. How's that possible? Well, there's a nifty CBN arrangement to support petroleum imports, covering any fluctuations in the exchange rate
Now, whether you agree with me or not, this smells like subsidy in another form. The government only tries to reduce the burden of subsidizing fuel on itself, but let's face it, it's still there.
If we look at it closely, a barrel of crude oil costs about 100 dollars, and our exchange rate is about 1000 naira to a dollar. No foreign refinery is going to accept our currency or theirs when it comes to anything related to petroleum products. Blame it on that petrodollar arrangement between the US and Saudi Arabia.
Remember the good old days when we could ship our crude oil to foreign refineries without buying the crude and without paying for refining costs, just the carriage? Well, that ship has sailed. That’s why some folks think there’s a lot of corruption going on at NNPC and is calling for a probe. And honestly, in such an arrangement, there shouldn't be any subsidies. But NNPC, they've got a different story
With The petrodollar arrangement and the liberalization of exchange rate, importers of petroleum products such as: PMS, AGO, Kerosene and liquidity gas will pay more in naira when exchange to dollar to refinery and import back to the country.
If the pump price of PMS still remains what it is today, the government will be paying subsidy it may be in a different way probably in different way different from previous administrations.

I agreed with president Tinubu that, our major problem as a nation is not the result of lack of human or capital or natural resources but leadership. This problem is not peculiar to Nigeria alone, this spread across the African continent. As African it our responsibility to talk about this issue relating to our relating to our continent.

President Tinubu's Powerful UN Address: Ending Resource Pillage by Stronger Nations #UNGA
PRESIDENT TINUBU ADDRESSES 78TH UNITED NATIONS GENERAL ASSEMBLY; ADVOCATES UNIVERSAL SANCTION BY UN NATIONS FOR THEIR COMPANIES AND PERSONS ILLEGALLY SMUGGLING ARMS AND MINERALS INTO AND OUT OF AFRICA
President Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday in New York City, addressed world leaders at the 78th United Nations General Assembly, during which he made a firm and compelling declaration that the time is now for UN member states to show, with their actions, that they mean what they say concerning the crackdown on terror financing, economic sabotage, and illicit mineral & arms smuggling in the developing world.
"The fourth important aspect of global trust and solidarity is to secure the continent’s mineral rich areas from pilfering and conflict. Many such areas have become catacombs of misery and exploitation. The Democratic Republic of the Congo has suffered this for decades, despite the strong UN presence there. The world economy owes the DRC much, but gives her very little.
"Foreign entities that are abetted by local criminals, who aspire to be petty warlords, have drafted thousands of our people into servitude to illegally mine gold and other resources. Billions of dollars meant to improve the nation now fuel countless violent enterprises. If left unchecked, they will threaten peace and place national security at grave risk. Given the extent of this injustice and the high stakes involved, many Africans are asking whether this phenomenon is by accident or by design. Member nations must reply by working with us to deter their firms and nationals from this 21st century pillage of the continent’s riches. To keep faith with the tenets of this world body and the theme of this year’s Assembly, the poverty of nations must end. The pillage of one nation’s resources by the overreach of firms and people of stronger nations must now end," the President declared.
President Tinubu further noted that his aggressive economic development diplomatic push for new investment has been demonstrably effective in presenting Nigeria as business-ready, but the ease of doing business, according to the President, might not be the major encumbrance to large scale investment.
"The question is not whether Nigeria is open for business. The question is how much of the world is truly open to doing business with Nigeria and Africa in an equal, mutually beneficial manner. Direct investment in critical industries, opening their ports to a wider range and larger quantity of quality African exports, and meaningful debt relief are important aspects of the cooperation we desire," the President affirmed.
The President equally noted that the global fight against the effects of climate change can not be based on a "one size fits all" approach and that nations must be cooperated with in the design and implementation of their own strategies, which are tailored to their respective socio-economic strengths and weaknesses.
"African nations will fight climate change, but we must do so on our own terms. To achieve the needed popular consensus, this campaign must accord with our overall economic efforts. In Nigeria, we shall build political consensus by highlighting remedial actions which also promote the broader economic good.
"Projects such as 'The Great Green Wall' to stop desert encroachment; halting the destruction of our forests through the mass production and distribution of gas burning stoves; and the provision of employment through local water management and irrigation projects are examples of efforts that equally advance both economic and climate change objectives simultaneously. Continental efforts regarding climate change will register important victories, only if established economies were more forthcoming with public and private sector investment for Africa’s preferred projects and initiatives," the President cautioned.
President Bola Tinubu concluded by reminding the world what Africa truly represents in the global village.
"Walk with us as true friends and partners. Africa is not a problem to be avoided, nor is it to be pitied. Africa is nothing less than the key to the world’s future."
