So how do I force Jarod to help me on the homestead?
I don't.
We both think it's wise to be prepared, but in different ways. He's more of a "food storage" guy and I'm more of a "raise our own animals" gal.
Jarod is very supportive of my raising plants and animals, but it's not his passion and I don't think it needs to be.
Plus, he works VERY hard every day to educate our children and keep up with countless projects and tasks of his own.
In our home, I take on animals and projects with the understanding that I have a fixed amount of time that I have and ask very little of Jarod. If there's a problem caused by an animal or relating to an animal, I need to figure out the solution, not dump my problems on my caring, hard-working, sacrificial husband. In the same way, he asks for my help when he needs it (which is seldom) and doesn't dump his work load on to me. We're a team. We love each other and appreciate each other's time and unique interests.
Could I get more done and have more animals if Jarod was involved? Sure! But he is the head of our family, representing how Christ is head of the church (his bride). I respect him and his time and only ask for his help once in a great while.
Our marriage is infinitely more important and valuable than all the "homestead things" in the world.
Are you frustrated that your husband isn't helping? Consider releasing him from that weight and ask how you can love and serve him. And perhaps... you weren't meant to do "all the things."

Dr. Leo's Layen's frame holder: an easy build for your natural beekeeping supplies!
Yet another woodworking project for keeping bees is in the books! Thankfully, this one didn't take long and was very simple.
Frames are organized- yay!

Time to SPLIT (my Layens hives)
The first split of my natural beekeeping journey is in the books!
This is my second year of natural beekeeping and I followed the directions from George de Layens in "Keeping Bees in Horizontal Hives" and conducted the 2-to-3 split he lays out.
Be sure to like/subscribe and hit the notification bell so you can see my next video on how my in-hive splits went!

How to secure foundation onto bee frames!
Like pretty much every endeavor on the journey of beekeeping, even something as seemingly simple as securing foundation to my Layens frames seemed daunting. But no longer! I did it, and you can do it too! Just don't use a blow dryer cord...

Build Perfect Layens Frames or Die Trying!
I guess it really is like eating an elephant! Taking on new, daunting projects seems impossible, but with the right guidance, they become a reality!
My friend Monty, the @SuburbanSodbuster , shared his time and expertise, helping me cut the wood for 60 Layens frames (used in horizontal hives with natural beekeeping).
He taught me to fish, so to speak, so I can make frames of my own for my expanding apiary, and I am so grateful!

I don't pay for my chickens. My chickens pay for me.
It's true! I spend about $18/month on feed for my 25-odd chickens, but easily earn that back plus some because of the eggs they provide us. What we would have spent in eggs gets transferred from the "Food" fund in our budget back to the "Homestead" fund!

I'll be living LARGE with these massive rabbit tractors! $$$
These rabbit tractors are 6' wide and 18' long... tha'ts over 100 sq ft! That means PLENTY of room to house rabbits and chickens, for our family and to sell! I'm thrilled about this huge potential to save and earn money on the homestead.

Can she bring this trailer back to LIFE?
I'm slowly moving toward multi-species grazing-- a cow/calf, a couple KuneKune pigs, and some hair sheep.
Can it be done with an online Spanish business, 4 young kids, a husband, 12 rabbits, 5 bee colonies, and 25 chickens?
I'm not sure... I'm approaching it with an open heart and. And even if it doesn't work out, the horse trailer needed a clean!
