Turtle catching in crystal clear Florida springs and swimming through incredible wildlife turned into a friendly competition with my good friend, Bill Hawthorne. Bill is a turtle scientist at the Florida Springs Institute and studies wildlife in these pristine environments.

I Got Hit By Lightning
I got hit by lightning while filming in the Everglades in Florida. While filming some content for Garmin, I waded into the swamps of Florida, filled with alligators, to show off some great Garmin products. While I was talking about my GPS systems, a bolt of lightning struck the swamp I was thigh-deep in.

The Fishing Story I Swore I'd Never Tell.
This is the fishing story I swore I'd never tell. While in Alaska we were in search of the sleeper shark. A sleeper shark is a type of large, slow-moving shark found in cold, deep ocean waters. We needed to catch some bait to use trying to lure in a sleeper shark so my cameraman Johnny Harrington and I went out fishing and hooked up to what we thought was going to be the fish of a lifetime. It turns out, it was something we would have never expected.

We Found A New Species of Snake!
While at the Chaparri Ecolodge in Peru, right behind the kitchen, in the compost heap we found an incredible creature. It was a blind snake. Blind snakes are small, delicate snakes that like to live and burrow underground but, this one was different. After confirming with local experts, it was determined this was a new species of blind snake in the Helminthophis genus which is known only to that region of Peru. What a discovery!
