A father brought his demon-possessed son to the disciples, begging them to cast out the demon. Try as they might, they could not cure the boy and so they brought him to Jesus. The father then begged Jesus to cast out the demon, saying "if you are able to do anything, help us." IF Jesus is able? We so often pose the same question to Jesus, "if you are able, do this for me." We doubt our Lord's competence to effect change in our lives, answer our pleas, or fulfill our needs. Like the father of the possessed boy, we need to turn to Jesus saying, "Jesus, I do believe. Help my unbelief!" When we do that, our Lord will do great things in our lives. He wants you to forget the real source of your strength - Jesus Christ - so that he can have power over you. Remember that, like St. Paul, you can do all things in Him who strengthens you.
