Princess Charlotte, Duchess Meghan attend Queen Elizabeth II's funeral
Members of the British Royal family were seen arriving at Queen Elizabeth II's funeral at Westminster Abbey.
The guest list for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II amounted to hundreds of people, a mix of members of the British royal family, foreign royals (many of them relatives of the queen), domestic and foreign government leaders, including President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden, British religious and military leaders, members of the royal households, and scores of ordinary people, from the National Health Service, for instance, who were invited to mark their service to the nation.
Also there are some two dozen other members of the queen’s family, including descendants of her mother’s Scottish family. All eight of her grandchildren are there and some of the older 12 great-grandchildren, including the new second and third in line in the succession, Prince George of Wales, 9, and Princess Charlotte of Wales, 7.

Ohio August 2 special / primary election: What's on the ballot
Get out and vote! It's election day in Ohio as voters are hitting the polls for the August 2 special / primary election. But what's on the ballot? What races will impact your community? Why are we having a rare August election?
You may remember, the state’s repeated map redistricting issues resulted in several races being delayed from the May 3 primary election earlier this year -- including candidates running for seats in the Ohio House, Ohio Senate and State Central Committee. These are now all part of this August election.

Dallas airport evacuated after woman fires gun
A woman was arrested after firing a handgun inside Dallas Love Field Airport. She was shot by an officer, arrested and taken to the hospital.

The woman, 37, entered the airport’s ticket counter area around 11 a.m. CDT, walked into a bathroom and came out wearing different clothing, said Dallas Police Chief Edgardo Garcia. She then opened fire, he said.
An officer shot the woman in her "lower extremities" to stop her, Garcia said. Nobody else was injured. Garcia said the woman was arrested and taken to a hospital. Her name has not been released, and it’s not clear why she fired the shots at the ceiling.

Texas officials had contradictory accounts of Uvalde school shooting
Texas officials had contradictory accounts of Uvalde school shooting | USA TODAY
Texas officials, including Governor Greg Abbott, offered contradictory narratives over two days after the school shooting in Uvalde that left 19 students and 2 teachers dead.
RELATED: Texas police commit errors in response to Uvalde school shooting https://bit.ly/3xeuOTx
With the attacker locked inside, a commanding officer decided this was no longer an active shooter situation, according to Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steve McCraw. Instead, officers treated the shooter as a barricaded subject, a judgment that may have contributed to the decision not to break into the classroom immediately. “It was the wrong decision. Period," McCraw said. "There's no excuse for that."
Seventy-nine minutes passed between the time the gunman began firing outside Robb Elementary School and the moment police shot him dead. While police failed to act, 10-year-olds and their teachers were making frantic calls to 9-1-1.
Between bouts of tears, McCraw acknowledged that the decision was not only wrong but catastrophic. Having as many as 19 officers wait in a school hallway for more officers and equipment while students and teachers called 9-1-1 from inside the classroom could have cost lives.

Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe “told to sign false confession” by UK government
Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe has told the BBC that Iran forced her to sign a false confession before allowing her to fly home to the UK. She says she did so “under duress” in Iran in the presence of a British official.
Her lawyer has written to the UK Foreign Secretary asking for an explanation of why she was “told to sign a false confession by her own government”.
The British-Iranian national was freed by Iran in March 2022, along with fellow detainee Anoosheh Ashoori, six years after being arrested on spying charges.
Mrs Zaghari-Ratcliffe says that the Iranian authorities would not let her board her plane home until she had signed the last-minute false confession.

Giant concrete dominoes fall to start UK festival
Giant concrete dominoes fall to start UK festival
More than 7,000 concrete dominoes have fallen to start the 250th Norfolk and Norwich Festival.
The dominoes stretched between Anglia Square and The Forum in Norwich, with some even going through homes and buildings.
Artist Julian Maynard Smith said the artwork, which has been replicated across cities of the world since 2009, grew out of an initial idea to connect boroughs of London.
Each concrete domino weighed about 17lbs (8kg). The 1.6-mile (2.5km) toppling lasted about 30 minutes.
