We leave Prescott and head even further south towards Saguaro National Park. It takes a couple hours but we make it there and get our first real look at the giant cactus. It is a wild place to see for the first time. After a quick drive through the park we decide to find camp and end up staying at a site where they happen to be giving a stargazing presentation. We take the recommendations of the locals we met on yesterday's trail and head out to Lynx Lake and Goldwater Lake. Lynx Lake is first on the docket and the views do not disappoint with a pretty easy loop around the entire thing. Next up is Goldwater which proves to be a longer and more difficult trail. But so fun for Hudson because he enjoys much of the trail of leash. A much needed shower is also acquired for myself later on in the afternoon. It's our first full day in Prescott, AZ and Hudson's two year gotcha day. We spend the morning exploring the Granite Dells and end up on another hike through Prescott National Forest. It's a great day in Sedona, beautiful weather, beautiful scenery and an amazing hike. We spend the morning finding the arch on Fay Canyon trail and then continue on to get an awesome view from the end of the trail. We hiked to the cave on Soldier's Pass trail. It was hard to get into with Hudson and even more difficult to get out. Don't recommend taking a dog on this trail unless you're pretty experienced at getting in and out of tough places with your pup. We enjoyed the scenery and spent the afternoon back at camp cooking up some grilled cheese and taking in the sunset. Hudson and I make our way up Bell Rock through a lot of open rockface scrambling. We do a short but quite steep hike up Cathedral Rock to experience awesome views. I break my tripod and we spend the afternoon with cows all around us in the red rocks of Sedona. We revisit the Birthing Cave and get to enjoy it to ourselves. Then we check out long canyon before heading back to our campsite. Week 5 of fixing the camper: I sanded and painted the frame, pressure washed the roof, took the wheels off and got new tires, I fixed the propane system and got the stove working. I also tried fixing the step but ultimately gave up because it was not worth the effort. We take on the dark and gloomy skies of Sedona and head out for a hike. Not wanting to be out for too long we choose to do Thunder Mountain but aren't quick enough to avoid the rain.
