CRT pickups October 2023
I'm still trying to save lots of CRTs, vintage computers end electronics. This lot had some nuggets of gold however condition was pretty shabby. A selection direct view, rear projection and front CRTs are in this mix.

LG RT29FD16RX 29" Component CRT TV
A 68cm/29" pure flat CRT TV by LG released in the year 2005. By now component inputs were very common. LG offered many non 100hz sets with component capability, while SCART is fairly uncommon for Australian LG tvs, component was fortunately ubiquitous.

Access Service Menu ONLY with this remote!
The "Factory SVC Remocon" is a special remote control intended for LG and possibly other brands of televisions. Although the remote is sold on todays market for flat panel TVs, it still works on older CRT TVs!
Some televisions will only allow access to the service menu via this remote or others like it. The model number of this unit is MKJ39170828. Your television's service manual will indicate whether a factory service remote is required for service menu access.
In this video I demonstrate the remote on a late LG CRT tv from 2006 to not only enter the service menu but also control the TV like the normal remote.

Rear Projection tube BURN-IN
Some examples of 4:3 & 16:9 burn-in on rear projection CRTs. Note the outer area that is most white is virgin phosphor that has not worn. The darker inner parts is where the electron beam has struck the phosphors on the insides of the tube to create a picture causing even burn-in over time wearing the phosphors out resulting in a dimmer picture. Tubes for rear and front projectors are driven brighter and get hotter as a result. These tubes are liquid cooled to stop the glass from cracking. The coolant chambers have been removed to give an unhindered look directly at the tube faces.
