Dr Show 1 – This show is addressed to physicians, researchers, nutritionists, etc. Carbohydrate-restricted diets – “carbohydrate intolerant” people. Possible side effects – lower blood pressure, salt intake important, postural/orthostatic hypotension and light-headedness, rapid weight loss, reduced blood glucose that diabetics need to monitor, transient hypercholesterolemia. Side-effects means the program is WORKING! A1c measures glycation as well as how much sugar in the blood. AGEs (tangles) and toes/feet/retina damaged by high sugars. Cross-linking. Lower hunger is okay! Let’s work together!

Show Number 6 – People who are overweight are, ironically, hungry at the cellular level. Diana covers low-fat ideas, which were erroneous, while saturated fat is helpful (unless you also eat a bunch of carbs at the same time). The Liberation Diet – brain about 50% saturated fat and heart demands saturated fat (and doesn’t get cancer). Yay sat-fat! ;-) Volek-Phinney book. Our internal fat = ½ EVOO and ½ butter. BTW, Diana’s Mom named I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter (which we DON’T recommend). Drs. Siegel & Somati on school’s getting a bit better for kids. Avocados are pretty good. On-Menu - Foods to Eat - Foods Not to Eat
This video discusses the foods we recommend you consider and the ones we suggest you eliminate or greatly reduce. The Volek/Phinney book The Art & Science of Low-Carb Performance has nice list that matches pretty much with our approach. The vegetable list on page 58 notes some good ones! The fats/oils chapter includes canola oil, which we DO NOT recommend. This book is THE go-to little book for best results by combining very low carb (under 50 grams per day) with resistance training (weights). Changes in body composition (less fat, more muscle) can be best achieved, IMO, using this combination. I have!

In this show, we discuss the definition of a panacea, vis a vis our diet approach. Banting is mentioned. Cholesterol became erroneously blamed for artery plaque. Diana articulates the fat vs carbs debates and ramifications. Is fiber a possible culprit? Blood pressure and triglycerides drop quickly, here on Day 3, as is IDE – insulin-degrading enzyme attacks glycations in our bloodstreams and in our brains, reducing tangles that are implicated in dementias such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. We are as thin as our insulin! Less insulin, less weight, less TAG, less blood pressure, less tangles.

In this first of our 130 15-minute shows, we welcome viewers who will, hopefully, become participants in our weight-loss and wellness approach. We introduce the low-carb books and heroes we'll be mentioning. Similar to keto or paleo in many respects, carbohydrate-restriction has been around for generations, if not "forever". We focus on how all chronic diseases are likely caused by and are further impacted by our eating sugars, starches and polyunsaturated fats. The Standard American Diet is indeed SAD, but healthy eating patterns can be achieved with a plan like the one we provide.
