Molokini is a wonderful diving and snorkeling spot near the island of Maui. On my first trip I took the most basic, tourist-oriented tour, which was quite enjoyable. Here are a few quick shots of this trip.

During a night dive in Monterey we came across a fish that had a hook in its mouth with the line attached to the seabed and was behaving erratically. After figuring out what was wrong we cut the line and let the fish go.

In northwest Maui there is a hidden gem, a series of tide pools and hikes that offer a feast for the eyes.

French Polynesia (a.k.a. Tahiti) is known for its great diving, but the main island of Tahiti is often overshadowed by places like Bora Bora and Fakarava. This video is a collection of shots I took while diving off the main island. It is worth the trip! The dive provider was Eleuthera.

Monterey Bay is a great place to do night dives if you enjoy seeing crustaceans.

A group of us divers came across dolphins who were so acclimated to humans they wanted us to pet them. It was great!

One of the best snorkeling spots on Maui is Honolua Bay. With schools of fish and plenty of coral to explore Honolua Bay is sure to be a snorkeler's delight. It may just be the best snorkeling spot on Maui. I have visited Honolua Bay multiple times and have enjoyed it every time. Here are a few clips from my first visit in 2014.

This buck toothed, jaundice looking, coral munching ugly bastard is the yelloweye filefish. Not everything you see when snorkeling is cute, beautiful, or majestic.

I don't know if this pup was trying to be playful or just fishing for a response, but at the time I thought it was going to bite the divers head. I asked the diver after the dive why he didn't respond at all, and all he would say is "I was confused". San Diego (La Jolla Cove), 2017.

This is a collection of shots from my first visit to the Ahihi-Kinau Marine Area Reserve (a.k.a. "Dumps") in 2014. That I had a spotted eagle ray practically swim up to me still brings a smile to my face when I look back. If you like snorkeling, then I highly recommend you swing by Dumps next time you are in Maui.

This is a composite of the various sea creatures I saw on my visit to the Kapoho Tide Pools in 2013. In 2017 I had a chance to visit the tide pools a second time, but I decided to save it for another trip. The pools were destroyed by the Kilauea lava flow in 2018, so I wish I hadn't done that.
