Russia-Ukrain War: US House Passed Crucial Aid Deal Worth $61b
The House of Representatives has finally approved billions of dollars in new US military aid for Ukraine to help combat Russia's invasion.
The much-delayed measure had vocal opponents in Congress and it took a fragile bipartisan deal to get the $61bn (£49bn) package through.
Republicans said more than a third would be dedicated to replenishing weapons and ammunition.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described the US support as "vital".
The aid would keep the war from expanding and save thousands of lives, he added.
It is unclear when the aid will arrive, but reports suggest it could be within days. The package will now go to the Senate, which is expected to pass it before President Joe Biden signs it into law.

US Confirm Israeli Air Strikes on Iran Base Near ‘Nuclear Energy Mountain’
JERUSALEM, Israel – Israel has reportedly struck targets in Iran in response to last weekend's unprecedented missile and drone attack against the Jewish state.
The Iranian Tasnim news agency reported the assault took place in the southeastern part of the city of Isfahan, near its "nuclear energy mountain."
Isfahan is the site of one of Iran's major nuclear sites that enriches uranium for the country's nuclear program.
According to The Jerusalem Post reporting on X, the attack in Isfahan was carried out with "long-range missiles launched from aircraft, not drones or land-to-air missiles."

But Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani said Doha had been exploited and abused and was being undermined by those trying to score political points.
He also said the current peace talks were in a "delicate phase".

Can the United States Afford to Pay its Loans? | Vantage with Palki Sharma

The IMF attributes this risk to the US's higher government spending and elevated interest rates. Additionally, a recent Congressional Budget Office analysis forecasts that American spending on interest payments will reach $870 billion this year, surpassing the $822 billion allocated for defence in 2024. Why West Asian Powers are Losing Patience with Israel
Why West Asian Powers are Losing Patience with Israel | Vantage with Palki Sharma
Arab Gulf states played a key role in foiling Iran's unprecedented drone and missile attack on Israel last weekend. While Jordan shot down Iranian missiles, Saudi Arabia and the UAE are reported to have shared intelligence with Israel and the US. However, reports also suggest that Riyadh and Abu Dhabi refused to open their airspace for Israel and US fighters during the attack. West Asian powers have negotiated with Hamas and foiled Iranian attacks in the hope of containing tensions in the region. But will Israel's continued aggression in Gaza force a rethink? Palki Sharma tells you why West Asia's Arab powers are indirectly helping Israel and why Netanyahu's response could put them off.

What do Arab Nations think about the Israel-Iran Tension?
As Israel considers its response to Iran's attack and continues to fight its war against Hamas in Gaza, there are fears over where these regional tensions could head. The international community is observing with great interest how Arab nations in the region now react. It's a complex part of the world with many rivals, both political and religious, vying for influence. Israel's neighbor Jordan and regional heavyweight Saudi Arabia both appeared to help defend Israel from Iran's missiles - to the surprise of many. Both countries are involved in a complicated balancing act, making it difficult to predict their future actions.

What are the desired effects of EU Sanctions how could they impact Iran?
The EU will widen sanctions against Iran following the country's weekend attack on Israel, European Council President Charles Michel told reporters in the early hours of Thursday morning after the first day of a two-day summit of EU leaders in Brussels.
"The idea is to target the companies that are needed for the drones, for the missiles," he said. The finer details are yet to be worked out, he added.
The EU will take "further restrictive measures against Iran, notably in relation to unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and missiles," the European Council said in a statement.
The statement also called “on Iran and its proxies to cease all attacks" and urged all sides to exercise “utmost restraint and to refrain from any action that may increase tensions in the region.”
EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell has tasked his staff with drawing up new measures and expanding sanctions. The EU has already targeted those responsible for making drones that Iran has sold to Russia for use in its war against Ukraine.
The idea is to expand that list to include missiles, although there is no evidence that Iran has sold missiles to Russia. Borrell said that proxy forces backed by Iran in Lebanon, Iraq and Syria could also be targeted with sanctions.

EU Foreign policy Chief Warned that Middle East on ‘Edge of War’
The EU foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, has warned that the Middle East is on the edge of 'a regional war', as concerns grow about escalating tensions between Iran and Israel. Iran carried out a retaliatory fusillade on Israel over the weekend, after a senior Iranian commander was killed in a bombing on its consular building in Damascus. Israel has vowed to strike Iran again despite diplomatic pressure to avoid doing so. Speaking at a meeting of G7 foreign ministers, Borrell said: 'We cannot go step by step, answering every time higher to a regional war. I don't want to exaggerate but we are on the edge of a war, a regional war in the Middle East, which will be sending shockwaves to the rest of the world, and in particular to Europe'
