Find things that make you want to engage not escape — according to this principle, most people own businesses that they should be getting rid of. I escaped all of it. Never had to show up… to anything. And I was depressed. A brain like mine was not built to be shelved. Use it. Fire on all cylinders. Then, through study and practice — create more cylinders and fire those too. The point of life is to make life better and enjoy the process. Accrual of resource is byproduct of investing energy into things that give you more energy. There are a million ways to a million dollars but far fewer pathways to fulfillment. All roads lead forward but you get to decide whether they are enjoyable or not. There is no “wrong” there is only right — either directly or through inversion. The past contains lessons (not mistakes) and so long as they are useful you can keep them. Warning: nothing is more dangerous than hanging on to the wrong lessons from a past season. Comparison steals and never builds, be careful comparing both up and down as both bring regression. Not everything worth doing will make you rich at first — things that last forever take a long time to create. 99% of your happiness is coming from 1% of your thoughts, activities & projects — double down, then double down, then finally double down again… what you will build when you are passionately engaged will dwarf anything you built just because you had to. Life moves in exponentials. Linear mode is the slowest mode. You will get a 1x yield or a 100,000x yield on your problems and the difference is your attitude. Time is most important to maximize when you feel like you have plenty of it. Hard things reward you for longer than easy things but they cost more and not every mind can afford them. Resilience is a muscle. You are weak when you need everything to “work out” to be happy. Status is not a valid indicator of success. Don’t get trapped there. Achievements that are meaningful don’t need to be talked about all the time. Everyone is wrong when they all agree. BUILD BECAUSE IT’S FUN. If you want to be actually successful, here’s the real playbook: - start in services, consulting, coaching, whatever, just start small and get a good service profitable - stay as long as you want and accumulate savings THEN: - use funds from that to capitalize development of a software, platform, or other “real” business, the definition of “real” being arbitrary and emotional, likely due to trauma from early childhood that precede all business acumen - lose money on it because you’ll need the bragging rights for later - get said “real” business profitable, eventually, using the funds invested from your prior profitable business that was not even real - then (this is a very important step) make fun of all the other businesses following in your footsteps but not quite as far along (because they’re not real, obviously) - the more shame and disgust you can put into these posts the better; do this by using words like “sad,” “embarrassing,” and “immature” Here’s why: these people who are just beginning are not real. They’re just fake stupid profitable businesses like you used to be, but you need to make sure they are aware of how ignorant they are compared to you NOW - finally, start throwing out all your numbers… use everything you can to validate your identity because you’re not enough without the numbers… It’s not bragging if you say you don’t care. That’s the secret: share these numbers every day but then tell everyone you don’t care. This is the recipe. Rinse, repeat & enjoy.

If you can learn — you have everything you need 💪 My life is a cumulative weighted average of the things I’ve learned and the choices I’ve made with newfound knowledge. The level you’re at matters less than the fulfillment you get from playing. I’d rather be at level 5 and happy than level 100 and scared of the dark. When you get close to death and must walk through it, you will not wish that you made more or had more — you will, if anything, wish you could go back and relive the moments you wasted worrying & fretting. Getting rich isn’t worth it if you’re not having fun. Chase a good life. Gotta have money but trading a good life for the money defeats the purpose. To be rich AND to enjoy it AND to leave stuff here better than you found it = grail.

Secret: Follow ppl on social who are actually rich… It’s called osmosis and it’s a real thing.

Perhaps the fastest way to depression is comparison. The second is sedentary lifestyle without proper exercise. The body tends to regulate itself better than the mind, though... hence the order (1)no comparison, ever (2) go for a walk

People with influence come in levels. Below a certain point, their influence is just transactional. They just have a following “for business” and can’t risk it to have the important discussions. Over a certain level- some have just made it a point to eliminate friction. I respect that too. I think some founders just want to do good work and don’t have time to open up the tsunami.
