This video of a dog riding, devil may care, atop a rickshaw in India definitely falls into the “kids, don’t try this at home!” category. It also makes for a surprisingly captivating fifteen seconds of footage. It’s unclear whether this dog has been specially trained to ride on top of a rickshaw, feeling the breeze in his face and watching the world go by, but from the intrepid confidence on full display, we’re guessing that this is isn’t his first go-round in car surfing. We have to wonder: Who first came up with this idea? Was it the enterprising rickshaw driver, or did the dog himself climb up there one day, chuffed up and confident that he could pull this off with no problem? Was it a “hold my beer” moment of inspiration? Or maybe this is simply a time conscious dog on the go, with important places to be and things to do, and he’s simply looking for the most efficient route from Point A to Point B. We can’t be entirely sure—but the one thing we can *definitely* be sure of is that this brave hearted dog is an undoubted inspiration to all of us who’ve wanted to try something new, different, and potentially dangerous, but let fear of the unknown hold us back. It never pays to be restrained from doing the things we want by the things we’re afraid might happen, and clearly this dog is living his best life. And getting a bird’s eye (dog’s eye?) view of street life in India that most of us will never get to see. All we can say is that we hope his human driver gets extra tips for the canine entertainment he offers, and that he shares them with his doggie companion and fellow traveler.
