Spencer Dinwiddie had the choice of signing with a team he's familiar with in the Dallas or Lakers
Spencer Dinwiddie had the choice of signing with a team he's familiar with in the Dallas Mavericks or the Los Angeles Lakers, and the point guard opted for the latter.
For Dinwiddie, signing with the Lakers made him step out of his comfort zone and take on a new challenge.
"Let's say you're a kid and you get your ass whupped by the bully," Dinwiddie said. "Dallas would have been like your mama, like, 'It's OK, baby.' … Lakers are like your dad: 'Nah, you better go out there and fight 'til you win.' You feel me? I just felt like that was what I needed at the time."

LeBron James gets tech, Ime Udoka ejected in Lakers-Rockets spat
An oddly officiated dispute between Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James and Houston Rockets head coach Ime Udoka led to a technical foul for James and an ejection for Udoka on Saturday night.
James and Udoka got into an exchange during the fourth quarter as the Lakers led 93-77 with 8:35 remaining.
Lakers swingman Cam Reddish fouled Rockets forward Tari Eason, and walked into him seconds after the play was dead, and the two were separated after some mild jawing of the court.
In the aftermath of the play, Udoka was seen talking in James’ direction, and as the all-time great attempted to approach the Houston head coach, controversial Rockets wing Dillon Brooks intervened.

LeBron James added another record to his ever-growing NBA resume
LeBron James added another record to his ever-growing NBA resume on Monday, passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the most minutes played, postseason included, in the sport's history.
James officially passed Abdul-Jabbar in the first half of the Lakers' 138-94 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. Including his 29 minutes on Monday, James has now played 66,318 career minutes to Kareem's 66,297.
Again, that number includes the playoffs. The official record, as is the case with the all-time scoring record (which LeBron also owns after passing Kareem last season), only counts regular-season minutes.
On that list, James currently sits in third place with 54,664 minutes played including Monday night, trailing Karl Malone (54,852) and Abdul-Jabbar (57,446).
