Firefighter Extrication Training
Knowledge of our equipment is paramount, especially when it comes to working around patients. Though we’ll never have the need to pick up an egg, it’s important to train so we can understand the very edge of where the power starts and stops, for when the time comes that it’s life or death. Many departments use their spreaders for this drill, but we used our cutters, because they actually have a point on the ends, making it harder. Once again my assistant, Neal, performs the task.

Firefighter Rescue
This is a training video. These volunteer firefighters are preparing for the upcoming harvest season in WI. While standing in the corn in the semi trailer, the operator starts to empty the corn out of the bottom, pulling the firefighter down. Once the corn gets up to his knees, he can no longer free himself. The victim needs to be isolate from additional grain burying him further. The cofferdam provides isolation, while the rescue auger removes the corn from around him until he can climb out. My assistant, Neal, volunteered to be rescued in this drill.
