Fernandes Ravelle Baritone Guitar with EMG pickups-My Initial Thoughts
This guitar flies on the face of my general sentiments toward active pickups and EMGs in particular. However, I've been wanting try a baritone for a while and at the price I got it I couldn't say no.
Fernandes has made guitars for years primarily for metal players and made the sustainiac system famous. However, it is unclear whether they are still even in business at this point.
This particular guitar seems to be well made and plays well. With some minor setup work, it's quite nice. The stock EMG pickups are the main weak point on the guitar (unless you happen to really like those) but can be easily changed. Even as is it is not unusable at all.
What do you think of baritone guitars? Useful? Gimmicky? Why not get a 7 or 8string? Let me know in the comments.

Does Playing Fast Make You a Better Guitarist? Ask the Pros
Links to the articles I referenced and quoted from. Please read them they are great.
https://guitar.com/features/why-playing-fast-shouldnt-matter/
https://breakthroughguitar.com/speed-doesnt-make-a-great-guitarist-this-does/
Speed can certainly be a flashy element used in guitar playing. But is it the measure of a good guitar player? Does being able to play all the arpeggios and sweep picking and alternate picking really separate the pros from the amateurs? What about other things like dynamics, rythym playing, negative space to name a few. And more importantly with the rise of social media and the persistent videos what is that doing to the mentality of people still learning to play? Maybe put another way is why are you using speed? What does it accomplish?

In this video compare the original pickups vs Lambertone Cremas vs the Epiphone classic PRO alnico pickups in the Epiphone 335, and The Fretwire humbuckers. These pickups range in price from $20-$300. Which one is your favorite? Let me know in the comments.

Epiphone Les Paul Upgrade: Lambertone Cremas +920D Jimmy Page Wiring Harness
Jimmy Page is one of my favorite guitar players of all time. He’s a huge reason why I play Les Pauls. ( well of course Slash as well). I’ve always wanted a Les Paul wired up like Page’s. Today that becomes a reality as I install a set of Lambertones Cremas and a 920D customs Jimmy Page harness into my number one guitar for the last 20 years that I’ve played in many bands with, played countless gigs, toured the nation. Lots of history, nostalgia, and connection with this guitar so there’s a lot to live up to for this new setup.
